Oh Dear

Do you want to know what really scares me?

U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney said she would do “whatever it takes” to make sure former President Donald Trump is not the GOP presidential nominee during the 2024 elections.

Do you know who her father is?  He shoots people in the damn face and then makes them apologize for it. Like, you know, I’m so sorry my face got in the way of your great shot. Hell, according to my Uncle Frankie, her daddy got the Saudis to crash airplanes into tall buildings so Halliburton could make a gatrillion dollars off a war that wasn’t even in Saudi. He stole a man’s heart and the damn thing is still beating. He left office in 2009 and hasn’t been seen in daylight since then. Havana syndrome? That’s his old heart in a garbage can somewhere beating, beating, beating.

Look, I do not like Liz Cheney but I do not taunt her. Oh no. I think she is as pure evil as her daddy and if not, she’s at least got his phone number.

When Liz Cheney says she’ll do whatever it takes, that means she has backup plans that would make Stephen King shake.

  1. You must admit she has guts……..but, never would I vote for her.

I’m not about to vote for her, either–but if she keeps Donald Trump for being elected again, I’ll be grateful. I can’t quite picture Liz Cheney as the savior of American democracy; but, like she said, “whatever it takes.”

  3. thatotherjean says:

Oops. Pushed the wrong button. My last sentence was supposed to read, “If she helps Ron DeSantis get elected, though, all that gratitude I’m feeling is cancelled.”

    3
  4. I’m with you, Juanita: I like the way she’s so devoted to the American Ideal, but I wouldn’t cross her for a million bucks.

  5. “whatever it takes”

I would not want either/any Cheney to invite me to an undisclosed location.

She had a conscience on the insurrection but she’s also looking for her opening for a run some day. Im not really sure what she stands for. And I agree with thatotherjean, if she supports desantis, she has lost her conscience. Add mike pence, too.

  7. Rick @ 5,
I wouldn’t either. But if the invite was for TFG, I’d say please proceed with haste.

  8. Sam in Mellen says:

Maybe she plans to take someone hunting who was involved in TFG’s administration.

IMO, it’s a little early to judge her. I’m reminded of the guy who composed “Amazing Grace”.

Not to be TOO into the movie tropes, she strikes me as positioning herself to be a “rebound” romance for the Republicans. And that hardly ever works out well.

There is no doubt she can write a book that would be at least as popular as a number of the Trump Sad!-ministration minions. She likely can be on the lecture circuit for a couple of years. There are bound to be corporate board opportunities. But I just can’t figure how she could cobble together enough of the Republican Party and other conservatives of her sort to get to a Presidential or Vice-Presidential nomination.

  11. Steve @ 6,
I will tell you exactly what Liz Cheney stands for. She stands for an obsolete ideology (“Conservatism” @ ~~1988-2005) that no longer has any traction; but she does not know, and probably will never realize, that it is obsolete. It is all headbreaking now; and it was all headbreaking in 1980. One line goes McCarthy –> Reagan — > Trump; the other goes Nixon –> Bush (I & II) –> noplace.

  12. Liz tried to take out Wyoming U.S senator Mike Enzi in a nasty way when she wanted his seat. She was literally free carpetbagging at that point as her pumps still had Virginia dew on them. But that was still when Wyoming was red—not bloody.
Scary woman. I’d never vote for her but she’d win in any knife fight.

    12
  13. She has voted with the Republican party without fail, during her time in Congress, except regarding January 6th. She has voted against the American people far too many times to count. I don’t trust her and I don’t count her as a convenient ally.

    13
  14. If only she could entice TFFG into a hunting trip on the Armstrong Ranch down by lovely Sarita, TX…

angela @12, Liz is a skilled ‘eunuchtician’, with a set of burdizzo/tongs and the sharpest fillet knife around; just turn her loose on every Rethug around [she’d need a magnifying glass too].

OT– Hurricane Ian is exploding south of western Cuba, growing and RI like crazy, ~Cat 3 already; may go to Cat 5 west of the Dry Tortugas/Keys.
Ian still looks like he’s going into Tampa Bay [after various predictive tracks had meandered westward the last week it’s slid back more easterly]. Ramped up 20kts in 2 hours this afternoon, now at ~115mph sustained winds, ~140m from Cuba landfall.

Liz is Daddy’s girl. Got all of his Evil, just wrapped up in a slightly less disgusting package. She seems to be a voice of Rethuglican reason on the Jan6 committee, but I fell for Dick’s Military base downsizing scam which turned into a Halliburton profit stream. Good rule of thumb, “Never trust a Cheney!”

    15
  16. Sandridge @ 13,

De Satan should be lining up passenger jets today to take Tampa Bay Floridians to Martha’s Vineyard for the rest of the week. it’s the least he could do.

    16
  17. Sandridge,

    Had to Google “burdizzo.” Yow.

    17
  18. She’s her daddy’s girl, alll right. I wouldn’t be caught dead anywhere near her dad, whether he is armed or not. Same for her. I like her spunk dealing with the congresscritters et al who just can’t stop kissing Orange Jesus on the butt. However, thats as far as it goes. And, yes, the Republican party of yore is no longer any where around. That also means Romney doesn’t have a home.

    18
  19. And another thing! Doesn’t she look more and more like her daddy every day? Darth Vader in a dress!

    19
  20. IIRC, Halliburton almost went under due the the lack of common practice. There was a huge asbestos liability. Either Halliburton did no due diligence or Cheney thought he could get passed it. Dumb move. Cheney had to find a solution because he had some deferred compensation agreement. AFAIA concerned he’s not very bright. Greedy sure. Anybody that heads a business or does any M&A should have known they were gonna get hit in the face with a pie. Surely somebody told him to check if the company Halliburton was acquiring had any liability. Maybe he was bailing out a friend. But it ended up with plenty of people being killed. Liz’s momma should have stopped that s….

  21. Harry Eagar says:

It would certainly be ironic of she became the first woman president. Might happen, too.

  22. At a time when anybody says anything negative about Dump, they are targeted by the Maga mob, I have to admire her courage in leading the charge on the Jan. 6 Committee. When there are darn few rethugs willing to speak up about the corruption in the Dump Admin., I welcome her voice in the search for truth.
