Oh Captain, My Captain

February 03, 2014 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Capn’ Pete Olson, my personal congressvarmint, sent out a statement after President Obama’s State of the Union address.

Now you gotta remember that Capn’ Pete is a better Christian than you are.  He’s the super deluxe brand.  He puts the saint in sanctimony.

The subject line in his email is:  “Subject: The President is Full of it”

And his closing is this do-whopper.   Click the little one to get the big one.

Full of IT.  And what would that IT be, Mr. Holier Than Thou?

Look, I talk like that all the time but I don’t claim to Super Deluxe Brand Christian status.  I’m one of those who has backsliding blisters on my butt.

Thanks to Jane for the heads up.

  1. Petey…… probably exhausted his vocabulary….. with “it.”

  2. Lorraine in Spring says:

At least he acknowledged President Obama as The President.

“Promote Our Energy Sector”? What? Did old Pete forget about the decades of taxpayer subsidies sent to Big Oil in Texas?

    Greedy, lying, idiot.

    Respectfully,
    Me

  3. Capn’, you too can lose your stripes. Hell, look what happened to Capn’ Queeg in the Caine Mutiny! And you think thats fiction!

  4. Ralph Wiggam says:

He says “Very Respectfully” but he is confused about what that means.

It doesn’t mean telling someone that they are FULL of it.

  5. Don A in Pennsyltucky says:

I wonder which energy sector he’s referring to. It’s not like anyone needs to promote oil and gas and I don’t think Pete is all that worried about the (non-existant) War on Coal. Someone needs to give him a dose of reality packaged up by the Fleet people. It shouldn’t be a news flash but at the current rate of usage the known reserves of fossil fuels worldwide will be used up in about 400 years. If all the people in the world were to up their consumption to match that of the USA, it’s more like 100 years. Unless your head is buried somewhere that the sun doesn’t shine you need to be thinking about something like solar energy (wind is already blowing hard where PeteO is concerned and he’s far removed from those west Texas wind farms).

Yeah yeah hurray to Don A! and I couldn’t help but think that maybe IT refers to ENERGY! You think? Our President is trying to get us using more renewable energy even if he got his arm twisted behind his back on the TPP. Please call your legislators, er, the guys who oughta be making good laws but I guess that is not a good choice of words, and say NO FAST TRACK ON TPP, and also remember the ALEC or whatever bill making the rounds that wants the 17th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution repealed so the folks who have the money and smarts can keep the rest of us from voting for some of the would-be legislators who could be appointed instead of elected. Think of all the money it could save or redistribute more sensibly. Oh, and Minnesota is signing up seniors for the military in lieu of graduation, efficient use of resources, right? and Kansas is trying to make it illegal to have citywide broadband. Okay I am going to go do something not involving Windows 8. Aargh.

  7. Thanks, Ralph and Don A. Nicely stated.

  8. Elizabeth says:

    Dear Petey boy,

With all due respect, the energy sector does not need more promotion. Those in it are doing more promoting than work already.

The noun you’re looking for–when you say the President is “full of it”–is _brains_. Something you are sadly unacquainted with.

  9. What Olson is full of is himself. Take that any way you wish. Including that way.

  10. Petey is my Congresscritter as well (hey! We must be neighbors!) I did not receive that particular bit of nuttery, but I do often get annoying postcards from his office, as well as fake “townhall” phone calls. One time I called his office after a particularly annoying mailing about the Evils of Obamacare (which I quite like) and unloaded on the unfortunate staffer about how Petey does not represent me, his constituent, and how he is basically a sack of….well, you know. I guess we should be grateful we don’t have Tom DeLay anymore, right? Such low expectations we have……

  11. Marge Wood says:

I just now saw one of those buttinsky ads from Cornyn stating that Texans want to be able to bear arms and Cornyn got an A from the NRA.

  12. RepubAnon says:

Time for the Austin Lounge Lizards classic: Jesus loves me, but he can’t stand you!

“Jesus loves me, this I know. And he’s told me = where you’re going to go. There’s lots of room for your kind, down below…whoa, whoa.”

I am breathless at the sheer amount of disrespect that PRESIDENT OBAMA receives from some people. Those same people have collectively lost their ever-loving minds because they cannot abide the fact that a black man is president, and therefore “rules” the U.S. (in their minds).
