North Carolina Is Coming Up for Air

August 14, 2016 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Y’all, just when you thought North Carolina was hopeless, along comes the transforming power of Donald Trump.

With Hillary Clinton pouring resources into North Carolina for her presidential campaign, and more likely Democratic voters registering in the state, Democrats say North Carolina is becoming a real Senate battleground.

The incumbent Republican senator, Richard Burr, is being challenged by Democratic former state representative Deborah Ross.

UnknownClinton is ahead by 9 points in North Carolina, a state that has gone off the deep end every election since 1976, with the exception of 2008 when Obama carried it, but very narrowly.

Latest polling numbers show Ross up by 2 points.  Last month, she was behind by 7 points.  Then Burr started campaigning with Trump. Honey, he might as well have wrapped a fifty pound sinker around his ankle.

Now, with the Clinton campaign pouring money into North Carolina, Ross will pick up even more Democratic base turnout.

Ross (typo corrected)  is the former director of the North Carolina ACLU, a fact that giving Burr heart congestion and irritable bowel syndrome.

Indeed, there is not.

  1. WashPost article says that analysts are considering moving VA’s status from Battleground to Blue. “There isn’t a demographic in Loudon County that Trump hasn’t offended.”

Ross was with the ACLU, not Burr, darlin’. Burr wouldn’t know the Constitution if it bit him on his southerly end.

Burr is, if you recall, the US Senator who told his wife to withdraw as much money as she could from their bank accounts at the end of 1999, because the Millenium was going to fry all the bank computers on the planet…..but he was careful NOT to let his constituents know the same (ultimately useless) information.

I’ve met Ross – smart, and a lovely human being, too. Heck of a combination.

Yeah, I moved from SC to the Chapel Hill area of NC. The “Research Triangle (Chapel Hill, Durham, Raleigh) as well as Asheville are the Blue areas of NC. I’ve never regretted the move and absolutely love it here. We’re fighting hard for Ross, as well as Attorney General Roy Cooper to oust that asshat Governor McCrory. It may be an uphill battle but as long as Trump keeps making those outrageous, untruthful lies/statements, maybe we’ll have a chance. AND hopefully get the HB2 bill thrown out. When I see entertainers scheduled to appear here, I write them and respectfully request them to cancel their appearances until the state comes to its senses.

well, looks like we finally found something trump is good for. he brings down the local repubs in the polls and hopefully in the elections. ok, ok so I am sitting and chuckling at that thought.

  9. What with Drumpf’s spokespersons rewriting history and the can’tidate fighting with President Obama (founder of Isis) and the unfair media and the cheaters in Pennsylvania (in the PA court case which defeated the Repug Voter ID proposal, not one instance of in-person voter fraud could be cited) looks like Drumpf is too busy to campaign on the issues so no surprise that red states are turning purple at least.

Rastybob is SO right. Complacency is the killer here. WE NEED TO WIN BIG!!! We need to shake the very foundations of conservatism in this country. On other sites I go to I see “I hope”, “I wish”, “It would be nice”… well, wishin’ and hopin’ isn’t going to get us there. DOING it will. Not voting is not an option! We have been complacent… or just plain lazy if you ask me… and look where that’s gotten us. Conservatism MUST die. And it’s time to put it in the grave. Unless of course you want to spend your time and dollars fighting for your rights in the courts for the next four (eight?!) years. The choice is yours. I’ve made mine. I’m fightin’. They’re going down!

i MIGHT even send $ to Ross. I still get mad at the Koch bfros. for their taking over NC.

  12. I send $ to Angie Craig. She’s running for snacilbupeR John Kline’s seat against Jason Lewis, an ignert snacilbupeR Scumpfian slime ball wingnut talk radio vermin. (No. I don’t like him.) It’s a close race in my purple MN district. If you’re interested, here is her website:

  14. Wow! I just may rethink my abhorrence of NC! My late husband wanted to retire to Asheville but the Lord took him home before he could do so. Frankly, if he had lived long enough to move to anywhere in NC, I think the total nastiness manifested by the NC leg would have inspired apoplexy that he would not have survived.
