No, No, We Mean It This Time. THIS is Custer’s Last Stand. We Were Just Joking the Other Time.

August 25, 2012 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

A member of the GOP Executive Committee sent an email to New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez’s staff informing them that Governor Martinez’s meeting with a group of American Indians “dishonored” Gen. George Armstrong Custer, the 19th century commander who killed scores of American Indians.

Republican National Committee leader Pat Rogers had himself a snot nosed walleyed hissy fit because the Governor of a state met with actual American Indians.  I’d hate to think what he’d have done if she met with some Germans.

“The state is going to hell,” Rogers, who is a member of the GOP executive committee and is currently in Tampa for the RNC convention …..

There’s a cool coincidence because so are you, Pat Rogers.

Thanks to Ralph for the heads up.

  1. Uh, is his objection that when the illegals fought the natives, the illegals usually won except for that last little incident that Custer (representing the illegals) was beaten by the Native born Americans?

  2. Sam in Kyle says:

Custer made a stupid move that got him surrounded by Sioux and ended up getting killed (along with his force) as a result of arrogance and stupidity. He’s the George W. Bush of cavalry commanders. What disrespect?

  3. You would think that after nearly 150 years people would know that “General” Custer (the “general” was a Civil War brevet rank – his actual rank was Lt. Colonel) was a first order idiot who when ever he went into the field against the natives, lost men. First Lt. Kidder and company in 1867, then Major Elliot down in Oklahoma and finally at the Little Big Horn. I am reminded of a song:

    Custer split his men,
Well, he won’t do that again!
And the general he don’t ride well anymore.
    With victories he was swimmin’
He killed children, dogs and women.
But the general he don’t ride well anymore.

Sounds like a typical GOP “hero” to me! And he had a strong desire to CinC!???

  4. I read on another website that the governor’s meeting was required by state law. Federalism, anybody? Isn’t that what they want? For states to make their own decisions?

  5. Soooooo….
Didn’t Romney dishonor George Washington, who fought as a General in the Revolutionary War, when the Romneys went to England to watch the Olympics?

    5
  6. What century do these people live in?

How the heck can you “dishonor” Custer any more than he “dishonored” himself??

  7. daChipster says:

The camel’s been in traction for some time, but if he weren’t, this would have been the last straw that put him there: these people have lost their damn minds!

    I like what Cheryl said.

  9. I am on a roll today.

  10. They aren’t a party of racist at all. Really they aren’t!

    10
  11. Wrong state, wrong tribe. Maybe he’s discovered that it’s hard to argue with with his logic, if he doesn’t use any?

    11
  12. Another Ellen in Texas says:

This from an idiot who’s understanding of Native Americans begins with John Wayne and ends with the Errol Flynn movie “They Died With Their Boots On”.

    12
  13. And what’s REALLY hilarious is, according to my sources, Custer was a……DEMOCRAT!

    13
  14. The Battle of Little Big Horn fought on June 25 and 26, 1876 near the Little Bighorn River in eastern Montana Territory, between US Army and Lakota, Northern Cheyenne and Arapaho people.

Well, from Mescalero NM to The Little Big Horn is 1040 miles. Don’t see any members of the Lakota, Northern Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes located in New Mexico.

As Rick said above “Wrong State, Wrong Tribe”.

But we are dealing with the Anti Science, History, and other subject party.

Or, I guess “An Indian, is An Indian”

I wonder if the members of the Tribes who met with Gov. Martinez asked to see her Birth Certificate!

  15. english teacher says:

The talk about federalism is like the talk about small government. As long as something fits into their ideology, states’ rights and small government are great. As soon as it contradicts one of the wacky agenda items, then it’s big, centralized government.

  16. Just when you think Republican “speak” can’t get more stupid, another one opens his mouth and proves us wrong.

Apparently Pat Rogers knows nothing about American Indians, New Mexico or how the U.S. Military utilized the great services of American Indian Code Talkers during both World Wars.

    16
  17. Mah Fellow Murkuhn says:

The governor of New Mexico has been attending this meeting for decades. It’s required by state law, and it’s not a new law. Any lawyer licensed in New Mexico should know that.

    17
  18. Lorraine in Spring says:

Why is it so many people can’t let go of the past?

Seriously, do they want to refight every war looking for a different outcome?

People who live in the past never fulfill their present and are unable to see their future. How sad for them, their children and America.

    18
  19. Apparently the “conveniently Hispanic” Guv Ole Susana of New Mexico is UNAWARE there are:

SIXTEEN (16) DIFFERENT TRIBES of Native Americans a/k/a Indians in her state. They should have an uprising.

By “conveniently Hispanic” I mean there are many, particularly politicians and news reporters who claim “hispanic” names when they want to even if they have to “adopt” a relative’s name ala Erica Castillo, when in Albuquerque, moved to Big D and became Erica Jones or something – her step-dad is Hispanic – to me, that is also called PANDERING~I lived in NM 15 yrs, I know these things~

The utter insanity with the Native Americans is just ‘one more thang’ about why the GOP is the Stupid Party.

    19
  20. You know, I am just going to have to give up thinking “that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard because some inane Repub. always tops it!

    20
  21. I was going to give Rogers an Indian name, but I couldn’t decide between Chief Running Mouth and Old Forked Tongue.
