No, I Didn’t

No, I didn’t fire the staff in a fit of anger.  I’m not Governor Greg Abbott. It just appears that everybody has gone on vacation at the same time.  I’ll stop by when I can to at least give you something to talk about.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott decided to do away with the state legislature because Democrats walked out to avoid passage of a horrible voting bill.

Gov. Greg Abbott followed through Friday on a threat to veto a section of the state budget that funds the Texas Legislature, its staffers and legislative agencies.

Dude, that’s some pettiness. So, here we’ve got a guy who starts doing wheelies over the thought of fixing the Texas electrical grid but truly believes he can raise enough donated money to build a wall on the Texas border.

And he hates dogs.

And after promising rural broadband, has a brain fart and vetos it.

Remember now – everything that comes out the legislature is a Republican bill because they own both houses of the Lege.  And then the Governor vetos it.

Hell yeah, Texas.

Be social and share!

And people keep voting for Republicans. I expect Fox News and the AM talk radio circuit will blame their scapegoat of the week for why Republicans are destroying Texas.

Trying to imagine what this country will turn into in the next few years. Both abbutt and desantis want to be president and are doing everything they can to appeal to the trumpf cult. Not that they will get elected, but state legislatures are doing everything they can to shut dem voters out. Then to top things off, the orange one has many repugnanticans wanting to get him into congress to become speaker of the house.
Is this the new twilight zone?

DeSantis and the bill’s sponsor, state Sen. Ray Rodrigues (R-Estero), suggested funding could be cut as punishment for colleges and universities found to be “indoctrinating” students under the measure, which goes into effect July 1.

“That’s not worth tax dollars and that’s not something that we’re going to be supporting moving forward,” DeSantis said.

And don’t forget he didn’t want teens to be educated about dating etiquette. I bet if the bill had been called the Clayton Williams Memorial Bill, he would have signed it!

  6. Greetings from Connecticut! If the staff of the Texas legislature is not being paid, who will run the special session your governor needs to call to pass the voter suppression legislation? I understand that the legislators aren’t paid much and might not care, but are they smart/motivated enough to do without support staff?

Lots of bluff and bluster but in the end, Texas will not be allowed to pursue its own foreign policy against Mexico.

What does it say about the gov’s priorities when he takes money away from a broken prison system to attempt to build an unnecessary wall.

  11. Steve from Beaverton says:

Sam, in my humble opinion what it says about abbutt’s priorities is he’s doing what the cult base will respond to so he can try to be the next narcissist in chief. He’s already proven that what the state really needs, he could give a shit less about. But what do I know since I fled texas 6 years ago.

Dunno why the rethuglicans are making so much noise about ballot fraud in Arizona, when the real ballot fraud is in Alaska.

    Six felony charges.

    Where is the rethuglican outrage?

Oh yeah . . . it was a rethuglican who dunnit.

Max K … “If the staff of the Texas legislature is not being paid, who will run the special session??

That is an easy one … the Abbott veto’s cut doesn’t take place until the start of the new fiscal year on Sept. 1, so they can hold the session anytime between now and then.
