New Footage

February 10, 2021 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Okay, kiddos, the House Managers have announced they have new footage from January 6th that they intend on showing today.

I am going to get my second vaccine today so I may miss it dammit.  I don’t know how I’m going to react to the vaccine – my friend Pam felt so bad that she called me on the phone just to have somebody to cuss at. My friend Tammy Lou got a hankering for hot dogs and sent her Bubba up to Sonic for like, I dunno, a half dozen of their foot longs with extra onions.

They say the Democrats have 18 hours to present their case and if yesterday is any indication, you may get to see some stunning lawyering. Following that there will be 18 hours of some guy on uppers screaming out things written in a notebook he dropped on the way in the door and didn’t get the pages put back in order. Honey, he’s got it floored in neutral.

Check in when you can.

  1. Good luck with the vaccine, JJ. A tad jealous here- in a state bragging about being #4 nationwide in the rollout, I’ve got a one-week promise for a call back to maybe set something up later.

Really looking forward to cartoons this week. There’ve been some gems.

Pretty consistent reports have been that the second dose gives headaches, body aches, and a general miserable feeling for a couple of days — almost like a short, bad cold. As a precaution, plan on being under the weather for a bit.

  3. Karen in New Mexico says:

I was fine after my second dose except for a very mild sore arm. But if you do get sick, just think about how your immune system is kicking in. You will be OK in a day.

  4. I got my 2nd shot last Wed. at the VA and had no reaction with either dose. None of the people I know personally have had a bad time from the shots. Old Vets, medical workers, or cops. Not to say I haven’t heard about strong reactions, but of the dozen or so I know: nada.

  5. Best wishes Miz JJ. My teacher friend in VA got her second shot Tuesday. She had chills and aches yesterday morning but by the end of the day she was feeling much better.

My youngest works in emergency services and has helped coordinate drive-through clinics. He said the general reporting is that the second shot has more aftereffects, though he has not heard of any serious problems in his area.

I go for my first one Thursday. YAY!!!!!

  6. An informal survey of my old farts Kiwanis club suggests the Moderna vax is more likely to be correlated to more severe reactions. I had Pfizer and no reaction at all except mild sore arm from the first shot.

Here in Oregon, they just opened up vaccines to those 85+. The appointments were wiped out in like 30 minutes. They only have about 1/10th of the supply needed for this rollout, and then they open up next week for those 75+. And then the next week I qualify, but at this rate, I may not get one till, I dunno, June.
JJ, good luck on your second. Hope your reaction is to just want a big thick steak and a glass of wine.
And speaking of the impeachment, which I can’t watch due to babysitting, I read where the cruzer made a really smart comment in defense of Trumpf. Says the constitution allows for idiots to be elected. He should know.

  8. I’m just so glad you are getting the second dose. We can tough out whatever it throws at us. We’re still looking for an appointment.

  9. Morning J.J. Here’s to hoping that a craving for extra long chili cheese coneys is the extent of your side effects.
Mayo with jalapenos and onions for me.
Come to think of it, Sonic’s already open…..

  10. Buttermilk Sky says:

Get your shot and be well. The video will be around forever.

Rep. Raskin just finished, and Rep. Noguse is up. An impressive young man. I don’t know anything about him but mean to find out.

I’m also in Virginia, and we’re set up to get our second Fauci Ouchie on Feb 18. I’m much more concerned about possible weather problems than side effects.

Of course, my kids are freaking out because they believe all the QAnon crap like it will make me infertile and mutate my DNA. First of all, I’m 67, so that ship sailed some time ago, but Dear Hubby is all for the mutation if it’s a complete cellular regeneration like Dr. Who…

  12. Closet Optimist says:

Plan for a day resting in the recliner. At least, that was my experience with the 2nd dose of Moderna. About 24 hours of achiness (more than usual), lethargy, low grade fever. My fever went up at night (101) but when I woke up at 4am it was gone. I’ll take a day of feeling crappy if it means I won’t die from Covid! (Also, when I think about it, back in the day I had hangovers that felt worse and lasted longer.)

    12
  13. The people that are getting mildly ill after the second dose are younger folk. That’s because old people take longer to build immunity based on the vaccine, and they need a larger quantity of the vaccine. The quantity is the same for all. So younger people actually get more vaccine than they need, and that can lead to an unpleasant day. Generally, old folks are fine. So the final tally is: advantage to being old: 1; disadvantages: right…

Enjoy reading up on Rep. Neguse. He’s a star.
    I recommend https://www.denverpost.com/2018/12/09/joe-neguse-up-and-coming-democratic-leader/

That article begins with a scene from 2008, when the then Speaker of the House,
“Andrew Romanoff introduced Joe Neguse, a friend and former employee, to a room full of Democratic voters in 2008 by saying: One day we will all be working for Joe.”

  15. Glad you’re being vaccinated. You can catch up on the footage. One piece shows officer Goodman saving Mitt Romney. Has het got his gold medal yet?

    15
  16. My 65 yo sis got her second Moderna and felt bad for about 36 hrs, ache-y, fever, headache. My 26 yo niece also got her second Moderna and didn’t feel too bad, for about 24 hrs. They both work in hospitals in Colorado. Steve in Beaverton: yes, slow here in Oregon. We signed up for the 1.B. group 5 (65+) and the earliest date is end of this month. But I’m sure it will be weeks or months later. Maybe by then we’ll get the one dose J&J?

    Hope you feel ok, Susan!

    16
  17. Good for you, Susan! My Pfizer shot didn’t hurt a bit and I had no after effects. I am still proudly wearing the band-aid and may eventually put both of them in a scrap book for the family to enjoy after i am long gone. Hopefully, by then they will not have tow owrry about any kind of a virus!

  18. Funny thing we had 3 snows those week. Was afraid I would not make it for the second vaccine. Cleared up, we stopped at Skyline Hotdogs, Cincinnati’s finest, had coneys with cheese.

Then everything tasted metallic. But the hotdogs were great!
