- Coco Gauff, a 15 year-old tennis phenom from Delray Florida earned a slot in the first round of Wimbledon by winning in the qualification round. That accomplishment was pretty darn good, but she burst onto the tennis scene by beating…wait for it…Venus Williams in her first round match. AND, she beat Venus in straight sets. In the second round she beat veteran Magdalena Rybarikova, also in straight sets. Today, in the third round against Polona Hercog, fighting off two match points in the second set, coming back to win not only that set, but also the third for the win. Between Ms. Gauff and the USWNT playing for 3rd World’s Cup US women are doing us proud in Europe.
