They say there are caravans of troops passing through.  So, I guess Trump got his military parade after all.

More unnecessary expense added to the deficit. The allegedly “fiscal conservative” snacilbupeR in Congress need to take account of the actual costs of Dotard45’s imaginary border war. It would be too much to expect them to take account of the moral and legal consequences of that imbecile’s maladministration ‘policies’ on immigration up to and including kidnapping and imprisoning children. Let’s hope it doesn’t require “shots fired” to open their eyes.

Vote 2018 like it’s our last hope. It very well could be. Beto! Beto! Beto! We’re counting on you, Texas! And you, AZ, MO, ND and NV. Florida?

So the Jade Helm scare was just one president early?

Along with all the other stuff….all those men will have to miss the holidays to bolster the King of BS political garbage. I hope they all realize that as they are standing around waiting for people to walk a thousand miles..

Jade Helm same thing. The reward for idiots.

Sending troops against this group of ragged, desperate people will blow up in his face, just like Hoover and the “Bonus Army” in 1932.

  5. I thought it was illegal to deploy regular Army troops within the US, I thought that was the National Guard’s job. Of course, that worked so well a few years ago at Kent State.

BillR, this unfortunately is not the first time troops have been deployed to the border with disastrous consequences. 1997. http://www.ndsn.org/july97/goats.html

  7. Here’s a link and partial text to the actual DoD Memo (below) outlining the military units involved and their deployment.
It looks to me like very few will actually be stationed in the Valley near the actual border (my former home area).

The only Valley location listed is the Harlingen NOSC.
Local San Antonio TV media has been reporting that these troops have been coming into Ft. Sam Houston and Lackland. Key words are “operating area”.
I think that they will just be getting a little ‘vacation’ billeting hereabouts on the San Antonio and Corpus Christi bases for a few weeks.
The Harlingen NOSC used to just be a Reserve unit (weekend warriors, all branches) meeting and training office; IIRC, it was in a downtown Harlingen building.
And as El Jefe wrote, it’s all just an elaborate and very expensive Trumpian PR move to try and gin up his MAGAoty base voters. Better those feeble-minded old chitheads just got ginned up on some Wild Turkey.

From an article in today’s Valley Morning Star (Harlingen):

    https://www.valleymorningstar.com/news/local_news/dod-internal-memo/pdf_2d443ad1-1a2f-5def-8c34-d2f6ee626517.html

    “Operation FAITHFUL PATRIOT
The following military units have been identified to deploy to the southwest border in support of
CBP. The total number of troops deployed will change each day as military forces flow into the
operating area, but initial estimates indicate the DOD will have identified approximately 7,000 troops supporting Operation FAITHFUL PATRIOT across California, Arizona and Texas.”

    Most will be based at:
“Base Support Installations near points of entry. BSIs are DOD federal installations located near the operation area and serve as primary logistics hubs, typically during a Defense Support to Civil Authorities response. Bases may be added or subtracted as operational planning continues.
    • Arizona: Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Fort Huachuca
    • California: Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton,
Naval Air Facility El Centro, Naval Base Coronado Naval Base San Diego, Naval Base
    Point Loma
    • Texas: Fort Bliss, Lackland Air Force Base, Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, Naval
Operations Support Center Harlingen, Naval Air Station Kingsville, “.
