Mike Huckabee: Have No Shame, Will Pander
Mike Huckabee claims to be a man of God.
He’s not.
I told you a couple of weeks ago about him glorifying the use of violence against violence.
And now, faced with the fact that little children have been victims of violence, Mike says it’s because we took God out of the school and apparently God is pissed about it.
We ask why there’s violence in our schools, but we’ve systematically removed God from our schools. Should we be so surprised that schools have become a place of carnage? Because we’ve made it a place where we don’t want to talk about eternity, life, what responsibility means, accountability.
So I guess there was a shooting in a church because we took algebra out of the scripture.
Mike Huckabee worships a mean, vindictive spiteful God. It’s certainly not my God. You cannot take God out of schools. God is everywhere. God is far more powerful than Huckabee’s little wimpy mean bully God.
I know the NRA is already preparing press releases that we should let teachers have guns to keep this from happening. Well, those kindergarteners’ teacher did have a gun, several in fact, and her son used the teacher’s guns to kill her classroom. So, NRA, just shuddup.
And Mike Huckabee, there is a real special place in hell for those who call Lord, Lord, in vain.
Not much daylight between Huckabee Baptists and Westboro Baptists.
1How disgusting. I wonder if he spewed that swill before or after he expressed condolences. Or if he was so intent on his dogma that he forgot about condolences at all.
2Huck is a Hater in disguise – he has a pleasant voice, his words are full of Hate.
3I noticed Texas Representative Debbie Riddle said something very similar. As long as we keep electing idiots like this to public office, I don’t think a lot will get done to finding solutions to problems like this.
4Yes, you can bet that’s what the NRA is up to. Now on their homepage is some rot from probably a David Koch funded study, about crime decreasing in Florida, which happens to be a concealed-carry state (forget about Trayvon Martin, as they have). Well, crime has decreased everywhere, and Wayne LaPierre admits that it is inconclusive research, but the flock is out filling comments sections with stuff about how “gun free zones” are magnets for these types of disasters, and calling for arming teachers. Sigh.
5Huckabee is data deprived. Western Europe is much more secular than the US and has more massacre prevention measures. They also have far fewer of these horrendous incidents.
6Amen, sister J.J.
7A mean, nasty and vindictive man.
And they tell us we are terrible to bring up gun control after tragedies like this.
8Even more unfortunate than the stupidity this man spews, is the stupidity of the people that listen to him and fall down on their knees to worship his every sadistic, hateful word.
9Great comments, as usual, Mz JJ.
In my old age, I like to think of The Loving God of Juanita Jean’s acquaintance as the “BIG G” God juxtaposed against nasty ol’ Huckabee’s hateful god with a little “g” who allows the killing of innocents all in the name of Huckabee’s religious fundamentalism.
10Huckabee’s god and my God are NOT one and the same! My God is a just and merciful God and I do believe that Jesus wept yesterday and, mostly likely, my God wept as well as He and his beloved Son, Jesus, gathered all those little souls into their arms!
As a Facebook friend said: Huckabee is a braying ass! And I say, Yes he is!!
11It’s just wrong to “politicize” an event like this but it’s totally okay to go for stupid-ass moralizing. Ya can’t ask why this guy had military weapons or if they should be so freely available (that would be victimizing the families) but go ahead and tell the families that their children would be alive if only they prayed.
12My God is too kind for this but I hope the vindictive one he worships puts a big ugly wart on the end of his nose
13Huckabee’s god is a Calvanistic god, where eternal damnation is threatened if you don’t do what the church tells you to do. My God is a loving God that forgives sins and saves everyone. Ben Franklin had the same God and observed that Beer is proof that God loves you and wants you to have a good life. There is no hell with a God who loves you.
14Another bone-chilling comment I have seen, “God has a plan for all of us.”
What kind of god plans for children to be shot to death?
15The Gun Owners of America beat the NRA to the punch. Larry Pratt, executive director said yesterday:
16“Gun control supporters have the blood of little children on their hands. The only thing accomplished by gun free zones is to insure that mass murderers can slay more before they are finally confronted by someone with a gun.”
http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2012/12/14/1341111/gun-advocacy-group-responds-gun-control-supporters-have-the-blood-of-little-children-on-their-hands/
I’m out to lunch with Star and she’d only read as far as “taking God out of the schools.” My immediate reaction was “You can’t keep God out of schools. He’s too powerful for that. He goes where he wants and he was there that day.” We were both tickled when we got further down and saw you’d said roughly the same thing.
Again, the violence is caused by violent people, often with mental instability. The tools they use to wreak that violence are irrelevant. He could have just have easily used a bomb.
17Don’t understand why this “so-called” man of god can’t have a bit more “God” (big G as compared to the little g) in his heart. Like Obama said, “Our hearts are broken today…”. Yes, Mr. President, they are indeed. They are indeed.
18If the kids died because God is not in the schools, how come the church has all those child molesting pedophiles?
19NRA, Huck et al: STFU
If Huckabee’s god will let someone take me out if I don’t pray for safety every day, then he’s not much of a god, now is he? If I have to keep reminding god that I exist every day, I will take my chances without him.
Another thing with these nutcase mass shootings: These guys are starting to wear body armor and as we saw in the one in Colorado use tear gas. Would having a gun be much help then?
20MH lost a bunch of weight recently. Unfortunately for him and even more so for us, his braincells were in the package. I wish you all a Merry Christmas with a special affectionate greeting to Juanita.
21I got e-mail this morning from the religious nuts in the family. And, so….. what I did…… was respond…..
It’s the damned guns.
I have family members who, for some unfathomable reason, feel the need to own automatic weapons.
I’m old, I’m cantankerous, and I’m to the “I don’t give a sh** if it hurts your feelings point”…
So, I decided “gun control” should start at home. And I wrote folks, (family members) on FB, and said…… get rid of these guns, that are not good for anything, but killing a lot of people, in a short amount of time as possible…or I don’t know you any more.
I mean it.
Enough!
22The core problem is vested in the right wing and has been seen on many issues. They are convinced that they should get their own way 100%. If they don’t. then they consider themselves to be victims. They will not compromise or accept that people with differing views have a right to get part of what they want.
23It will not matter, unfortunately, how many prayers we offer up, to Whomever.
They are not going to bring those sweet children back.
24What was his reasoning behind the killing of the little Amish children, in their school a couple of years ago? I’m old, and I forget.
25I think the best proof of the nonexistence of a deity is the fact that Huckabee wasn’t immediately hit by a bolt of lightning or swallowed up in a sinkhole.
What a vile thing to say while parents, teachers, family, and the community are still in shock and mourning.
26Karma has great plans for Huckabee. I am just sure of it. With any lock, we can all watch!
27lock, that is.
28If Mike Huckabee thinks these shootings are the result of too little religion in the classroom, the only way his argument can work is if Huckabee removes Jesus from his own religious beliefs. Today Huckabee decides to go all vengeance and Old Testament just to prove some twisted point he is trying to make. Jesus would never say what Huckabee said. Jesus never struck down anyone with wrath because there wasn’t enough religion somewhere. The closest comparison (and it’s not even close), was when Jesus tipped over a few tables when the money changers were brought INTO the temple. And you can bet there are a lot of money changers involved in Huckabee’s religious vocation.
29I’d love for the Huckster to meet a Muslim student I had in class a few semesters ago. I made some comment about something I believed and something that concerned me, and she asked sweetly, “Isn’t your god big enough for that?”
As soon as I heard about this shooting, I thought of her. My sweet Nana taught me that her god was big enough to take care of the birds and the flowers–and me. And that Jesus said our father is preparing a place for us in heaven.
The reason these clowns give for owning guns is “protection,” when in fact their only reason to own them is to injure or kill people they’re afraid of.
I guess their god isn’t big enough for that.
30I had a Facebook post from someone who is no longer my “friend” reminding me that the whole gun control vs mental health funding issue was not valid because guns were guaranteed by the Constitution but healthcare was not. Hard to argue with someone that warped.
31Mike Huckabee is a liar. He uses the term “god” whne he actually means “religion”. His religion and not yours.
32@Sam in Kyle, Section 8(1) of the Constitution says the Congress can provide for the “General welfare” of the United States. I believe the SCOTUS has ruled the healthcare bill was constitutional.
The first song I learned at a very early age was, “Jesus Loves the Little Children.” I don’t believe that love is predicated on the actions of the parents. Huckabee does not know anything about the parents of the children who were murdered, just as he really don’t know anything about God. If he did, he wouldn’t be saying such ugly, ridiculous things.
Now I understand that the shooter’s mother was an avid gun collector and took her sons to the shooting range. Since she knew of her son’s mental instability, she was an idiot to have had guns around, available to her son. She has certainly reaped what she sowed.
33@Sam, yeah, that’s why I got off Facebook last night…AFTER I unfriended a bunch of idiots. They can have all the screwed up opinions they want but that doesn’t mean I have to let it pollute my newsfeed.
34SandyP: You do know you can hide them from your feed, right? I do that quite often. You can also bring them back when they behave. Just askin’.
35I wonder if these so-called Christians will ever realize it is people like them trying to cram this stuff down our throats that have turned the rest of us against everything they “claim” to believe in. The hypocrisy and judgment surrounding them is so strong that nobody wants something that stinks like that. I spent many years of my life going to various churches (found one once I loved until the pastor and his wife retired and were replaced with a pretentious asshole). Now I distance myself from all of that…but not from my spiritual beliefs. Funny thing how God is quite able to take care of His own without the bullshit. The Mike Huckabees of the world are disgusting.
36Huckabee
37Schmuckabee. If there is a just God, the old huckster may be in for a big surprise.
38Oh yeah… let’s arm the teachers. It’s not like they have anything else to do.
Huck… kma.
39Let’s not stop with the teachers. Let’s arm the kids.
I assume that God was in the churches, but that didn’t keep kids from being molested by priests.
As to religion, atheists are the fastest growing group in America for a reason. Young people look at these type of “christians” and find them hateful and ugly. Real Christians don’t spew this crap, but when the bad represents the whole (because, for one thing, they are louder and more attention-grabbing) to the world, people are turned off by religion. It’s going to be bad for them on Judgement Day.
40I found this today. This could be the answer we’ll looking. Gun Insurance, you have to pay for the right to own a gun. Much like a car. http://crooksandliars.com/susie-madrak/modest-proposal-what-if-we-required-0
41Perhaps lessons from the Old Testament should be learned through the behavior of the Jews, God’s directions to seeking his favor, and the repeated failings of those folk when ignoring those directions form above.
Of course, the unlearned will dismiss such as fairy tales, while repeating the errors of the Jews from ancient history. And destined to repeat similiar fate.
42texjeff, love the mandatory gun insurance idea. We require insurance, licensing, and demonstration of usage skills for having a car, so why not for a device intended to kill?
New Yorker article from April 2012 shows how much the NRA has distorted rational and historical interpretation of the Second Amendment (As the governor of Texas explained in 1893, the “mission of the concealed deadly weapon is murder. To check it is the duty of every self-respecting, law-abiding man.”):
http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2012/04/23/120423fa_fact_lepore?currentPage=all
43“faced with the fact that little children have been victims of violence, Mike says it’s because we took God out of the school and apparently God is pissed about it.”
Let me see if I have this right. Huck says he knows the mind of God, who is omnipotent (right behind Huck), and God decided to kill 20 babies so his representative on Earth could make a point, a point that, among other things, trashes the Constitution that allows Huck to play – guess what – God. I thought Pat Robertson was a freakishly insane fool, but, not to worry, his replacement is waiting and ready. POS.
44I want so badly to say something relevant and intelligent about this, but I can’t. I’m just so heartbroken for the families and everyone that there’s nothing I can say. I will keep them in my prayers to my God, and I guess the Rev. Huckabee will bang on his “religious” and political drum. I’m heartbroken, and I’m just going to pray. I know that my God isn’t his god, and my Jesus isn’t his.
45A long time ago my then wife became mentally unstable, in my opinion (she has long since been diagnosed as psychotic and been on drugs for 20+ years). I got my rifle out of the house, and until I did the bolt was locked and hidden in my wood shop.
Turns out I know the grandmother of the best friend of one of the six year olds, he was home sick that day.
46These “evangelicals” have taken God out of religion period…they replaced “God” with money and greed…
47Dear Rubymay, we are on the same proverbial page, so be heartbroken for the families and the people in Newtown and Hoboken that have to deal with this tragic mess (I can’t help thinking about the unopened presents that are gonna go back, makes me weep for those poor people, what a bleak Christmas) so try to think of the little ones as they must be now, and that they were never very far from God to begin with. Try not to think of the other one at all yet, but if you must, only someone incredibly bitter and twisted and tortured could have dreamed something like this up in the first place; and since he is dead at least we (and Newton) will be spared an ongoing media circus surrounding him, unlike those poor folks in Aurora, CO.
48@Cheryl
“It’s going to be bad for them on Judgement Day.”
For whom? The “christians,” as you so correctly call them, or the atheists? Or both?
I sincerely hope you’re not telling me I’m going to hell – I’ve had enough of that in my life.
(Sorry for getting off the topic of the children, but I’ve *really*, *really* had enough of that in my life. And needless to say I believe the tellers are wrong.)
49Throughout history, more harm has been done in the name of God than can ever be recounted. When men presume to know the will of God, they risk the wrath of God. Beware Huckabee!
