Mike Flynn Ain’t Over Yet

June 10, 2020 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

US District Judge Emmet Sullivan ordered an investigation into the dismissal of charges against Michael Flynn by the Justice department.

The results are back and it looks like an explosion of righteous indignation under a crate of total crap.

The Justice Department’s handling of former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn’s case is a “gross abuse of prosecutorial power,” a court-appointed attorney and former judge wrote in a searing 82-page analysis on Wednesday.

The court-appointed lawyer John Gleeson also argued that Flynn should be sentenced for lying, including for perjuring himself in court for admitting his crimes then disavowing them.

Gleeson also argued that the Justice Department decision to dismiss all charges against Flynn undermined “the public’s trust in the rule of law.”

Sullivan giving a sentence to Flynn — which could range from no prison time to a maximum of five years in prison–would be a way to restore order to the justice system, Gleeson wrote.

Barr needs to go to prison, too, but that’s just me talking.

Thanks to Epp for the heads up.

Asking the Justice Department to investigate the Justice Department’s decision to dismiss all charges against Flynn is hilarious. Sullivan’s fiery rhetoric notwithstanding.

  2. at minimum, Mr. Barr needs to be disbarred, by the NY State Bar Association, for his multiple professional ethics violations.

Did a quick search and got a ton of links like this:
Attorney General Barr says what Michael Flynn did “was not …

Start with Barr. After all, he did co-opt the Justice Department along with individual one.

  4. I don’t recall hearing of Judge Gleeson before but one thing is clear: he doesn’t hold back.

If you have never read a court document before you should read this one. It hits and hits hard on every single shithead right wing talking point about Flynn’s supposed victimization. They are totally demolished. Nothing left.

He does make it clear that it is OBVIOUS that the DoJ’s action is solely to benefit a friend of the president. He explains why that the court should not allow this, and what authority they have to deny the motion.

Not that they won’t try, but I sure as hell would never want too e not he receiving end of a document like this.

The only real question is what next: will Trump do the pardon thing or will they try to get a reversal at a higher court?

My bet: Trump will pardon once the lawyers explain to him that there is no way to respond to Gleeson’s brief. Second choice: they will try some tactic to delay everything until after the election.

My guess is that Drooling Donald Trumpski will wait for the Court of Appeals to decide. If they don’t rule Trumpski’s way, it’s a toss-up. Trump isn’t known for bailing out minions – but he might want to try and stop a stampede of rats from putting on water wings and deserting the ship.

Thank you, Judge Sullivan and attorney Gleeson, for making the perfidy of the Justice Department under AG Barr perfectly clear in the Mike Flynn case. No matter what happens ultimately, a blistering critique was exactly what it all deserved. Well done, gentlemen!

Barr’s reputation is permanently in the toilet. And, he was always a bully. He’s a pariah in decent company from here on out. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. Maybe he can be pals with Alex Jones.

Barr should be tried and executed for treason!

    @BarbinDC, #8:

Just when you thought it couldn’t be any worse, here comes a WaPo article titled: “So this is why Bill Barr is such a bully”.^

“Back in 1991, during Barr’s confirmation to be George H.W. Bush’s attorney general, lawyer Jimmy Lohman, who overlapped with Barr at New York’s Horace Mann School and later Columbia University, wrote a piece for the little-known Florida Flambeau newspaper about Barr being “my very own high-school tormentor” — a “classic bully” and “power abuser” in the 1960s who “put the crunch on me every chance [he] got.” ”

A bully from a bullying family. Sounds like Barr, and sounds like Barr wanted to be BLOATUS’ bully just like the good old days…

Gleeson has dealt with massive crime before when as a federal prosecutor, he put John Gotti away. His scathing review of this attempted miscarriage of justice is beyond reproach and rebuttal. I liked this article in Esquire by Charles Pierce, particularly the headline:https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/a32828242/michael-flynn-amicus-brief-judge-gleason-william-barr/

  12. After Trump-ster has been voted out of office (and hopefully triad for Treason) will be the time to imprison the Trump cronies!

  13. Does this remind anyone else about the treatment given to Jeffrey Epstein by the U. S. Department of Justice?
As with the Epstein case, Flynn was given kid gloves treatment to keep him quiet. If he does end up in jail, make sure he is put on ‘suicide watch’. Don’t want to do an ‘Epstein’ before any really good juicy bits come out.
