  1. I guess we won’t be seeing the Clintons for a while .

Now we need to find new candidates with no strings attached.

    1
  2. My son told me some time ago that Trump would win and I was aghast! I just did not believe him. Now he is hiding from me! to me, this is the greatest loss.

OBAMA IS A MAN OF CLASS
to be replaced by a pompous ass
    misogynistic, vile and crass

Never forget Obama’s grace and charm-same for Michele and
    their children.

C’mon Old Fart-Drumpf is up to his ass in legal troubles. He is being sued all over the place. He is charged with raping a 12 or 13 year old girl-repeatedly.

HRC has been investigated right along with the Clinton Foundation for forever and there have been no charges, no indictments and absolutely zero convictions. Those strings are imaginary in fevered wingnut minds.

It really bothers me that people claim there is something wrong about the Clinton’s. There is no there there. Sorry for the rant. And no offense meant to you Old Fart.

  5. Sandridge & AKLynne- oh believe me, I “feel’ it, but in any practical day to day way trump”s presidency will mostly effect my psyche. My friends and neighbors will pay more heavily, commiting daily offenses like driving while black, flying while Muslim, loving while LGBT ot worse, living in America while poor.
It is why I’m willing to be bumper grease. I’m not willing to hurt the people who’ve made this nightmare but I do think it’s time for real sacrifice on my part to counter it. If merely voting or violence are the only alternatives, namby pamby liberal bullshit is all I’ve got.
I was pretty much in despair when I woke but all the teachers and librarians I know (not mention lots of others) picked themselves up this morning and went to do their job. I’m taking some inspiration from them.

There are many, many people and organizations to blame but that won’t get us anywhere. Building a solid organization to the 2020 do over begins immediately. America has had very bad leaders before, yet we survived. We must learn to listen. One thing I can’t stand about many of my liberal friends is that they
simply do not hear the legitimate concerns of the kind of person who pulled a lever for Drumpf. And, I’m sorry, but damn it Hilary was a marginal choice who decided it was her turn to be President. She owns a large piece of this disaster. As does the media. Let’s move forward. putting America and our children first.

  7. @e platypus:

How I wish that logic always holds sway, but *clearly* it does not.

These folks will take the attributes of a saint and reform them to the direst mold unimaginable. A fresh start (like a young Senator from IL) might be best. I have little doubt that we just squandered the potential of a great POTUS, but here we are…

PS: It KILLS me that the hypocrisy of the Gingrich/Rove crowd lies unexploitable. Ultimately “If it bleeds it leads” has done tremendous to progressive USA.

HRC had a better than even chance to defeat Drumpf, if that was all she faced, But, she faced Drumpf’s team of dirty tricksters, the FBI NY office with rogue agents, Comey, head of the FBI, wikileaks, Russian intelligence and hackers and the entire wingnut congress and their never ending investigations.

Comey’s unfortunate attempt to sway voters worked. Not because the info was damning, but because the timing was so close to the election. That was when the polls shifted to Drumpf’s favor.

Crimes, I believe, were committed by Drumpf’s campaign and the FBI. Not HRC.

    9
  10. Without the intent of Congress, can the Hatch Act be enforced?

This intervention by FBI agents is Treason to more than half the voting population of the US!

Will we get justice?: too late…

This was a long election process. As Democrats, one of the first things we can do is come to terms with the fact that more people went to the voting booth and chose Donald Trump overy Hillary Clinton. She had plenty of time and opportunity to make her case to the electorate. THE next question we should be asking are related to both our core beliefs as Democrats and to our chosen candidate. What did voters reject when they chose Trump as the better alternative. Some rejected our entire philosophy and core beliefs about Government’s role in making America a better place for everyone regardless of who our candidate was. Some rejected the idea that our candidate was a suitable vessel for those core beliefs. The rest rejected our candidate outright, even if they held Democratic core values. I hope our philosophy and values do not change so there’s not much we can do about the first group.
As a mere P & Z commissionesr were often admonished to avoid even the appearance of impropriety. Our careful future choices of committed progressive Democrats to representhe us up and down the ticket will at least give our values a fair hearing in the electorate without the distortion of meaningless but distracting side issues.

  12. Deb in CA says:

To understand what happened yesterday, read Thomas Frank’s “Listen, Liberal.”

It would also be helpful to never again tune into MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS or NBC and believe the crap those neatly coifed millionare anchors and pundits ooze out of their bubble-pores. I had to stop watching TRMS six months ago, I was so repulsed by her willingness to violate journalism ethics on behalf of her candidate.

The MSM elites rallied around the establishment flag and lied to the American people for a full straight year, telling us Hillary was a great candidate, a tremendous candidate, the MOST qualified candidate in the history of the world. She is none of those things. That is why she lost.

The DNC establishment is already trying to blame Bernie and anyone but themselves, but in truth, this is all on Hillary and Bill and DWS and everyone else who conspired to rig the system on behalf of a terribly flawed candidate.

We could have had a great president, a humble man who would have unified America and made us stronger. Instead we are getting a clown. All because of the greed and selfishness of the Clintons. The one saving grace is that this will mark The End of The Clinton Era. They destroyed a once-great party. Let’s hope we can build something from the ashes which will harken back to the values that the Dems used to stand for, before the Clintons and the DLC (financed by Koch brothers money) began the ruination of the party.

    12
  13. I can understand why people wanted change, but they didn’t put much thought into the vehicle.

Drumpf is the Pinto of Presidency.

    13
  14. elise from CA says:

Linda, voting for Drumpf because you want change is like voting for O.J. to support civil rights.

  15. Deb in CA: Rachel Maddow is a fantastic journalist. For our time. She doesn’t just “do the news”. She does the political news for our time, meaning explaining (as much as possible), the reality of what actually is versus the deluge of fake (repugnant) news that so many of our neighbors seek out and trust as gospel. She is an invaluable resource. Just don’t forget to still read print media. Even if its online. Hillary wasn’t my first choice. Joe Biden was. But I was proud to vote for Hillary. I’ve always liked her. Always respected the hell out of her, and she is qualified beyond anyone who ran. We all underestimated how effectively the right painted her as crooked. THAT’S why she lost. I’ll bet we all know some guy who says he doesn’t have a problem with a woman president, just not Hillary. And I’d bet my bottom dollar that most of them, if they’re honest, would admit that in 1992 that wouldn’t have been the case. They’ve evolved. And so has their hatred of Hillary Clinton.

  16. e platypus onion says:

Wonder how long it will take for wingnuts to get rid of the filibuster so they can seat a Scotus nightmare with the 51 votes they have in the senate?

I keep hearing that WE weren’t listening to the other side which is why we lost. How many times do I have to hear Obama is coming to take our guns before I tune it out? How many times do I need to hear Obama is a Muslim and is going to force Sharia law on all of us?

THEY are coming for your healthcare that too damn many Dems couldn’t bother to vote to protect. THEY will try to force kristian Sharia law on all. THEY will prove that only white, straight, radical kristian lives matter-except for the Potus and elected representatives who have neither morals or ethics.

  18. Linda Phipps says:

Elise, I hope you don’t think I voted for Darth Trump. I can’t look at his face, hear his speech or read anything about him. I feel terrible for anyone in this country who is not a white or white supremacist or evangelical. I have heard nothing but terrible news about Darth’s plan for the reshaped government, including planning with Ryan to get rid of Social Security, and the beatings and vandalism from Darth’s loyal upstanding Americans. Sick.
