Louisville, Kentucky

April 10, 2023 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

As of 9:30 am Texas time, in downtown Louisville five people are dead and six others are hospitalized.  The shooter has been neutralized.

We have decided that this is an acceptable price for allowing mentally ill people to exercise their right to be a well organized militia of one with weapons of war.

  2. If we don’t vote those Republicans out in huge numbers, this is never going to stop.

  3. The Surly Professor says:

The satirical site The Onion runs an article about each of these events, with the same headline:

‘No Way To Prevent This,’ Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens

Sometime in the future, some investigative journalist will trace gun money given to GOP pols, and somehow, I feel it will be coming from Russia. These random killings are such a great way to destabilize us.

RE 4 BarbinDC: Generally that is the trend of youths voting for the future.

On the other hand, not all youth will avoid indoctrination. Here are youth athletes / wrestlers, in Missouri:

  8. Every day there’s another mass killing. When I go to a grocery store, I note the nearest bathroom, exit door or a possible place to take cover. I never sit with my back to the door at a restaurant. The increasing likelihood of it happening to you or someone you know is unsettling.

    AK Lynne @ 2,

Voting out Republicans will help towards establishing a majority that will make laws to stop the proliferation of assault weapons. But how do we get the AR 15s and others already out there, off the streets?

  9. Charles Dimmick says:

At this point I feel that the most important thing I can do for the effort is my continued financial support for my Senator, Chris Murphy, and urging him to continue his effort toward sensible gun control. And for my congresscritter, Jahanna Hayes.

  10. Steve from Beaverton says:

The second amendmenters just keep saying there will need to be some people sacrificed by guns in order to preserve their rights (over yours) to own any weapons they want. Just blaming mental illness and Thots and preyers ain’t workin is it.

  11. Papa, how about a buy-back? Schedule it when everyone really needs the money.

Where’s Mitch? Where’s Rand? Praying I guess. But Charles@9, ouch, Chris Murphy is your most excellent Senator, but Jahanna Hayes, awesome in her own right, is a Congresscritter? I know JJ uses it as a term of endearment for many of the TX critters, but Rep. Hayes hardly qualifies. My R-E-S-P-E-C-T Meter is a little sensitive these days.

  15. Papa, they are happening at more than one per day since the beginning of the year. I do like the buyback idea, but I don’t know either how you pry all those weapons of war back from the nutcases that are stockpiling them.

  16. Steve from Beaverton says:

2 governators were personally impacted by the Nashville and Louisville mass killings, both with AR 15 assault rifles. Now they say they want action. Pardon me if I’m a bit skeptical about what that means. As far as I can see, it has nothing to do with banning weapons of mass killings, but they think they can keep them out of the wrong hands. Maybe that’s a crack in the thots and preyers only stance, but I’m guessing it’s not even close to really doing something.

  17. Nick Carraway says:

I’ll take any action at this point. If you can get movement on even just expanding background checks on specific weapons you take it and just keep chipping away at this thing. Even if you get some movement on the mental health side of things you take what you can get.

The reaction to the Tennessee three could be a microcosm for some movement. They get their seat back and the GOP get to look like racist assholes (sorry momma). Similarly, maybe just maybe they will realize they have to do “something” or this whole thing will get away from them.

  18. Old Fart says:

Back in Nashville, where they DID SOMETHING about mass shootings by kicking out 2 young black men who were representing their constituents’ wishes. Which of course was promptly reversed by the will of their constituents. Which shows yet again, GOPs accomplished nothing to protect against the threat of firearms. Even if it means loss of dignity, or their minds.
