Lou Dobbs Finally Gets His Walking Papers

February 05, 2021 By: El Jefe Category: 2020 Election, Giuliani, Insurrection

It’s amazing how effective multiple billion lawsuits are at stopping illegal behavior.  Lou Dobbs, one of the worst human beings on the planet, has been well known for his incendiary commentary on television for years; he started at CNN as a normal business anchor but moved to Fox Business in 2011.  He was one of the original Obama haters and became unhinged when Trump started making noise about running for president.  Like Sean Hannity, Dobbs was all in on Trump every day, all day.  After Trump lost the election, Dobbs started repeating the same bullshit being spread by Trump, Giuliani, and Powell, especially the lies about Smartmatic and Dominion Voting Systems.  Those companies finally got a belly full of the defamation, and both sued.  Smartmatic upped the ante big time, naming Dobbs, among other deplorables in their $2.7 billion suit against Fox.  The network unceremoniously showed him the door this afternoon.  It’s over.

Good riddance.  So many more to go.

    Ah! Karma!

  2. Is there a name for right wing TV networks censoring right wing anchors?

I guess when a billion dollar lawsuit chases the Fox out of the henhouse, all you’re left with is Chicken News.

  3. Finally! It’s a corporation that does what no sane citizen could. They muzzled Faux with a hefty lawsuit. May this be a warning to other MSM shows that there are consequences for spreading lies and conspiracy bull shit.

Pirro, Bartiromo, and Hannity will get the axe soon. May they all roast in hell.

  4. So is this a living example of “Money talks; Bullshit walks”?

Well, I guess that will limit FUTURE damages — but what has ALREADY happened is going to make Fox Business pretty worried about the trial, the verdict, and the damages.

He will land on a far right platform somewhere in hell.

Poor ol` Louisa, can someone give her a clean diaper ?

What about Bartiromo and Jeanine? Will they leave also?

  9. Wow! I just knew this would happen some day! He finally shot himself in the ego! What a day! Greene got kicked off her committees. This means she has no official House duties. I would hate to see her “newsletters” to her constituents! The bull she was throwing around in Congress will probably now ricochet into print. And I hear that Charlie Crist of Florida is now a Democrat? If that is true, undoubtedly we will pick up more and the D’s in the Senate will actually be a countable majority without having to rely on Kamala to break a tie..

  10. It’s one thing to defame a person – a few million dollars in damages is a cost of doing business for a hate media outlet. However, treating a big corporation like Hillary Clinton opens the door to damages several orders of magnitude greater.

Plus, the corporation must sue, and win, to repair some of the reputational damage. The old “settle out of court for an undisclosed sum and no admission of guilt” trick won’t work to regain the trust of potential customers.

Apparently although top-rated, Dobbs has not pulled the advertisers so his show was not profitable. More interesting is that Fox Biz is keeping him on the payroll and therefore off other outlets.

This may or may not signify anything; depends how his contract reads.

OT; Louie the G becomes one of first two congresscritters fined for evading metal detectors. Keep ears peeled for monumental whining noise.

  12. I think Jack Holmes, Esquire’s political editor, had the best description of ol’ Lou, whose hair just kept getting younger and younger looking:

“And nobody will do anything for a buck—and some adulation and attention—quite like Lou Dobbs, the fashy Benjamin Button who hosts one of Donald Trump’s favorite shows on Fox Business.”

  13. Sam in Superior says:

Dobbs should be grateful; if this was Russian TV he’d accidentally fall off the roof. I like watching him melt in disgrace much more.

I wonder when faux news will start off their programs with disclaimers similar to the abc radio affiliate that pissed giuliani off at the start of his regular radio show. They still have a lot of loose cannons on the air even with dobbs off the air.
I hope faux news pays through the nose for dobbs and in turn faux makes dobbs pay as well.

  15. I can’t help but wonder about the *other* shoe that logically will have to drop: Insanity and Bow-Tie Boi.

It sure would be nice to see them both groveling while admitting that their whole act was a lie in direct support of the one who needs a shoe up his @$$…

  16. Steve from Beaverton says:

Let’s not forget laura ingraham- she needs a reality check, too. I’m sure a little research about her on air statements could (should) cost her some money. Her job I wish. Her name calling Dr. Fauci as sinister is interesting considering it’s coming out of her face hole. And her guest RFK Jr.- what a piece of work he is during this pandemic. Bet his dad and uncle are rolling over in their graves. Gee, hope he doesn’t come down with it along with ingraham.

@Harry Eagar #11: The whining has already started from Louie. He’s appealing the fine, because he says he wasn’t aware that he had to be wanded when coming out of the washroom before going back to his desk.

  18. One of the recent “Hacks on Tap” podcast episodes brought up a nasty fact: Faux Corp doesn’t get the majority of it’s funds from advertising. It gets the from the fees that the cable providers pay for access. That means that people who HATE Faux Corp are inadvertently supporting it because of the bundled packages. And we have no way to pick and choose…

  19. WA Skeptic says:

I agree, #18–I hate Faux News passionately, but the only way I can protest is by never watching them. I “favorite” mark the only channels I watch so there’s my protest, for what it helps. I also shudder at the thought of my money going to all the religious and shopping channels, so I block them too.

OT: I watched “The Night of the Hunter” last week: now I remember why I hate the sanctimonious psalm-singing preachers I see on TV. One of the best Robert Mitchum movies I’ve ever seen. If you haven’t seen it, find it and watch spellbound!
