Lordy, Lordy, I Hadn’t Thought of This.

From the New Republic.

Fate has no love for those who pursued the impeachment of Bill Clinton.Newt Gingrich, who led the charge against Clinton, lost the speakership in 1998 over his own extra-marital dalliances, while his successor Dennis Hastert, who shepherded the impeachment in the wake of Gingrich’s disgrace, has confessed to sexually abusing boys while working as a high school wrestling coach in the 1970s. Ken Starr, the special prosecutor who authored the famous report that graphically detailed Clinton’s sexual misconduct, is now facing the same sort of fall from grace that overtook Gingrich and Hastert.

They forgot about Bob Livingston and Hot Tub Tom DeLay.

Thanks to Kathy for the heads up.

  1. Actually, Bob Livingston resigned his post (as Speaker of the House) after Larry Flynt (he of Hustler fame) threatened his position. And of the group, Bob Livingston was the one who resigned with dignity, grace and the admiration of both Republicans and Democrats alike.

Livingston resigned because he had an affair, and was trying to impeach Clinton for having a blow job. I find nothing dignified or gracious about that. And gee, he was succeeded by David Vitter, another sexual deviant. The GOP appears to be a safe haven for pedophiles, cheaters, liars, and those who solicit prostitutes.
For all the press about Clinton, Lewinsky was an adult at the time, and never before had a President’s extracurriculal activities been dragged into the press.
If Trump chooses Newt as his VP, they will have six marriages and numerous affairs between the two of them. And I bet the evangelical Bible thumpers will turn the other cheek, but had Clinton had an affair, she would be a pariah. Not wonder the GOP hates public education. The kids might learn the meaning of hypocrisy and become Democrats.

If you like your job and want to keep it, keep your pants up.

  4. “never before had a President’s extracurriculal activities been dragged into the press.”

Not quite true. In 1884, supporters of James Blaine made a campaign song about Grover Cleveland’s child by his mistress: “Ma, Ma, where’s my Pa? Gone to the White House, ha ha ha!” Cleveland (unmarried) countered that having a long-term mistress and providing well for her and the child was better than using prostitutes. He married while President… to his legal ward, daughter of a late friend, who was 27 years his junior and had grown up calling him Uncle Cleve, but who am I to judge.

  5. Rhea, how about Warren Harding?

As for the Rethugs, they must look upon Capitol Hill the same way as frat boys look upon their own schools — as a hunting ground.

Bad cess to them all! As my grandma would have said.

I’m hoping that those who are now pursuing yet another impeachment of a Democratic president [just in time for the election] will take heed.

Nah. That’ll never happen — but a girl can dream.

May the Fates keep this current batch in their sites. Please.

Rhea, kudos for your superb historical reference!

Whether the Big Dog actually had a dalliance beyond the blue dress is immaterial. The snacilbupeR wish to flaunt their “family values.” ‘K, let them. How many of them have been married to ONE spouse for 44 years, raised a child with a world class education who later married before procreating?

Love or hate the Clintons, the snacilbupeR should be applauding the Clintons for exemplifying family values, or embrace the fact that snacilbupeR are colossal hypocrites.

Crazy snacilbupeR. Seriously. They can embrace the Donnie Drumpf Dufus, or the Goldwater Girl. If rationality was a part of politics, more snacilbupeR than Democrats would support HRC.

Something I have learned over the years: those who are quick to make accusations about others are often hiding something. They want to turn your attention away from themselves.

Jesus had something to say about this: “Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye?” (Luke 6:42, Matthew 7:5). But the churches that yammer most about Jesus seem not to have listened to him.

  9. The Repigs also forgot about the ‘love child’ of ‘no govt funds for abortion’ Rep Henry Hyde. They tried to make him Speaker before Hastert and the ‘love child’ was brought out.

Sheesh, the hypocrisy of the idiocy.

  10. Elizabeth Moon says:

The right wing still describes Chelsea Clinton as “ugly” and slam her for “never having held a real job” and having bought a condo in NYC.

    10
  11. Elizabeth Moon, thats their way of distracting us from their own ugly offspring still living in the parental basement and being fully supported by mom and dad. They haven’t a damn thing to brag about!

  12. The New Republic, eh? I read that once. They had an issue on the stand in the public library as soon as McCain picked Palin as a running mate. Most of the content was devoted to how much the A Lebel Repub women hated Palin! And McCain. And how je would screw the election with his choice. They were nasty!!!!!

    12
  13. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Elizabeth Moon, if Chelsea wasn’t the child of Democratic parents, the right wing would be celebrating her graduation from top flight schools, marrying a man with a future, and producing a wonderful child with another on the way. While this is NONE of my business, I might add that she looks good, too.

Eykis, Henry Hyde. There’s a link to a website out there that names all the snacilbupeR sex molesting hypocrites and their pervangelist fiends. If EPO or Micr don’t beat me to it, I’ll post that link later.

    Thanks for the shoutout!

There are literally dozens of pages dedicated to naming names of snacilbupeR who have committed every sort of disgusting sexual deviance from assaultive to perverted.

These snacilbupeR would attempt to sexually molest the crack of dawn!

    Alliteration is fun!

  16. daChipster says:

I believe it was Strom Thurmond who had a bi-racial love child, for double the irony, double the hypocrisy, double the fun.

Henry Hyde, who was the floor manager for Clinton’s impeachment, had had a five-year affair with a married woman some years before. I’m not aware of any by-blows from that or any other affairs, but that’s not to say there aren’t.

I got to know – and like – Henry slightly at the end of his life. By the time I knew him he was physically infirm and not always fully engaged in a conversation. But MAN he would light up when the young ladies would go by. So I doubt that the one extended affair he copped to was the only peccadillo in his career.

The sooner we end the sexual McCarthyism of this country, which has led to pretzel-like hypocrisy especially on the Right, the better off everyone will be as we can concentrate on things that matter.
