Looney AND Stupid
It’s exactly as we thought. The letter bomber today is not only a mouth breathing, drooling Trumpist, he’s crazy as hell AND stupid as a bag of horse manure. First he mailed letter bombs to people who don’t open their own mail. Stupid. Second, he misspelled the same words on multiple labels. Stupid. Third, he had a van covered in anti-Democratic images and slogans, including death threats to Democratic officials and their families, and Nazi like images of Trump. Stupid. Fourth, he filled his social media accounts with poisonous bile threatening to kill everyone from Hillary to George Soros. Stupid. Fifth, and most important, the letter bombs he manufactured are covered in his DNA and fingerprints. Incredibly stupid. Since he already had a felony record and drove around in a rolling nutjob billboard, he was easily and quickly caught. Let’s be clear here – this guy is not only a terrorist, he’s a 24 karat gold dumbass. Here’s a good pic of one side of the van.
As if you needed it, this goofball is the perfect example of why Donald Trump is so dangerous. Trump has no limits, no judgement. He is so obsessed with self that he uses idiocy like this guy displayed to his advantage. And while he breeds this kind of terrorism, other more normal people, now called 401(k) Trumpists, look the other way because (at least up until this week), their retirement accounts have been going up. That weakens our democracy.
The reality here is that we got lucky this time because no one was injured and this guy was so incredibly stupid that he made bombs that didn’t work. But thereare smarter people out there who are just as looney. They are the ones who scare me.
But, but, but!
His fellow workers at The Gentlemen’s Club (actual place he worked) said he was nice, and funny, and never talked politics!
1They’re calling that thing a Vanifesto.
2They probably never talked politics with him. I know a few who are extremely funny, but will go wingnut when you talk about politics.
3Faux Noose and Rump’s syncophants can’t say he was a Democrat, but they’ll try. The van could be the evil GOP clown car for Rump’s rallies. I hope that van goes to an auto dump and is crushed for scrap. I hope he gets the federal slammer for a hundred years.
4Trump probably looks on that van, and it’s MAGA style adornments with a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction.
5I’m wondering how they’ll accuse George Soros of recruiting this waste of protoplasm?
6@Charles R. Phillips #4
They may have a list of people to accuse, but the one they should look at is sitting in the oval office.
7The next standard fallback position is the “whocouldaknown lone wolf” excuse:
8Who could have known that a lone wolf would hear the king say “will nobody rid me of this turbulent priest” and then kill Thomas a Becket… er, I mean shoot Dr. Tiller. No, wait, I mean send bombs out to Trump’s preferred targets…
I am not aware that Trump ever got his fandom fired up to go out and do good. Fox and other conservative sites are offering some very curliqued fantasies about how the lift has somehow engineered it.
9This is great. Steve Mnuchin stole Cesar Sayoc’s house. You can’t make this s* up.
https://boingboing.net/2018/10/26/roosting-chicken-bomber.html
10I’ve noticed bumperstickers, at least around here– MD suburbs of DC. I have 4-5 on my car, which is about the limit of sanity. Most people have none, even in campaign season. Maybe they have one or two about their honor student or what they’d rather be doing. Greenbelt is a lefty town so we have more vehicles than usual with 4-6 lefty stickers. But anybody in the area who goes over that number tends to go WAY over, like our friend up there, and if so is at least 90% gonzo right wing mouth-breathing loco, and possibly antiabortion. (I say 90% because I did once see a van completely covered in lefty stickers, though it was possible that they were all that was holding the van together.)
11Our Inciter-in-Chief cares not that his glorification of violence
12and false incrimination of Democratic leaders and the press, which fact checks him, amounts to advocacy for nut jobs to commit violence in his name. All the while, the R’s accuse Democrats of being an angry mob. We need a blue wave to save our democracy.
Top Youth Soccer Recruits For Trump??? Seriously? Who made that up? Most of the stuff on that van has to be made up out of thin air, probably by the owner.
13BillR,
Here is the source story, from a much ‘cleaner’ site (per my browser’s blocker).
(only quoted a couple of paragraphs below)
So RAT45’s Treasury Sec Steve Mnuchin screwed this Sayoc MAGAot bomber dude, and he goes craycray on Democrats. Gawd I hope Nov 6 begins to straighten out this FU’ed mess of a nation we are watching devolve into a Fourth Reich.
https://theintercept.com/2018/10/26/cesar-sayoc-foreclosure-steven-mnuchin/
“CESAR SAYOC, THE Donald Trump-loving Floridian who was taken into custody in relation to pipe bombs mailed to prominent Democrats, was foreclosed on in 2009 by a bank whose principal owner and chair is now Trump’s treasury secretary, Steven Mnuchin.
The documents used to enact the foreclosure were signed by a prominent robo-signer and seemingly backdated. Nonetheless, the evidence was good enough for the famously inattentive Florida foreclosure courts to wave the case through.
Years later, Sayoc became a supporter of Trump, who came into office and appointed a treasury secretary who ran the bank that snatched Sayoc’s house.”
PS: Voted early this morning, among many residents from all over my farflung rural TX county drawn in to the county seat. Think that Cruz and the Reptaliban will still take the usual 73%+ here, if all the Anglo geezers who were out in force are typical for this county. Seemed to be more Hispanics than 2016, but different time of day too.
14I’m glad their retirement accounts are going up. Mine has lost $16,000 since the first of the year. Thanks, Donald!
15Are we sure there’s only *one* MAGABomber?
16My former car, referred by the grandchildren as the Peacemobile, had an Obama sticker, peace sign, rainbow sticker, and a couple of Quaker sayings. So I guess if any packages with peace song CDs show up on the White House doorstep and John Bolton’s office, they will be a knockin on my door.
17i just reread my comment with the misspelling of “left”, turning into “lift” (“fantasies about how the lift has somehow engineered it.”) Quite Freudian. I said to one of my sons that the thought had briefly entered my mind that perhaps this was the work of a disgruntled Berniebot (with much anger at Wasserman Schultz) and he reminded me that a lot of Bernie people would just smoke more pot.
Maybe the constant repeats of whatever “that person” says at rallies might have incited the bomber, but then, he said those things, CNN didn’t make it up. Trump is incapable of connecting these very terrible dots.
18Linda Phipps, I think most people underestimate tRump; he knows exactly what he’s doing, and will continue what he’s doing because it’s good for his “bidness,” IE, keeping him in power.
Plus, he likes the results, the angst, chaos, angry back and forth, the growth of the far right, the ability to blame others for all the bad that happens as a consequence.
19To Papa: oh no! Don’t crush the van – start a new exhibit at the Smithsonian under the category of “Terrible Mistakes”.
Charles R Phillips – I agree. Snake oil salesmen don’t sell anything the people won’t buy.
20For the record, I have never owned a car with a bumper sticker. I would not put a bumper sticker on a vehicle I own. If someone wants me to advertise for them, there’s a fee and maybe a place on a rear window.
However, under no circumstances will those stickers be religious, sexual, or political in any way. My views on those issues are mine alone and no one else’s “bidness.”
21@Linda Phipps #20
I like it!
@Charles R. Phillips #20
I’ve only had one sticker on a car. It for getting on a military base. I think in the wrong circumstances, stickers could attract attention you don’t want.
22Charles R Phillips: back in the day when all could afford was old clunkers: one notable one a red plymouth that had several confederate flag stickers – I called it the Luke Duke car.
23Do you have Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ number? I need her help to find citations of Bernie Sanders advising violent action to his supporters. Also, if I say, “When they go low, we body slam them!” is that civil enough for her?* Finally, if Trump tells his supporters to use violence against his opponents, does he have any responsibility if one of his opponents uses violence against his supporters?
24*Personally, I don’t approve of kicking, either, unless it’s kicking the hypocrites out of the government (That’s a metaphor, Sarah).
@ Max #24
IMO, Rump has repeatedly incited violence by telling his supporters to use it against his opponents. If his opponents do the same, then I say it’s an equal and expected reaction.
Please know that I do not approve or support the acts of violence done by Sayoc.
25For sure, this stupido is not the only one out there.
Last night, Rachel told us about two groups [one in California and one in New York] who are 1] just as violent and 2] just as stupid.
One guy in NY spoke at a Republican organizaton and mansplained to them why they’re both on the same side. Then, he and his cronies went outside of that facility and beat up people on the street who were counter-protesting their having been invited to speak there.
And another guy from the same group was invited on FOX to recruit more people to his “cause.”
The FBI has infiltrated both groups and are currently in the process of rolling them both up. Numerous people from both are currently working their ways through our court systems as I type this.
Thank God for stupid criminals.
If any of these guys [or our president, ftm] grow a brain, we’re all in deep trouble.
26@ Papa # 4:
I hear he’s looking at 48 years in prison. That’s good enough for me.
and
@ Charles R Philips #6:
27I’m sure they’ll accuse CNN and any and all media except FOX. Aamof, our current resident of the White House has already begun.
Donnie ‘Don’t Blame Me’ Dotard has sidled up to the role of leader with his covfefe version of “the buck stops here.” In his emolument clause crushing fashion his words are “$, ₽, and ﷼ deposits here.”
After a weeks of parcel bombs and now a anti-Semitic shooting spree in PA, Dotard45 is once again hitting the campaign trail to incite his MAGAts.
28Rightie spin machines are now claiming the van “decorations” were photoshopped onto it by the media.
29OK, El Jefe. So this guy was dumber than a Brillo pad. There is something niggling at the back of my mind that says ergo some one of obviously high IQ of alt right sympathies and up to his eyebrows in resources is going to take up the banner and really show the world what he can do and how it is done with bigger and better pipe bombs. This ain’t over yet.
30Maggie, you might well be right. However, I think it more likely he/she will get another monosyllabic idiot to do the bombing for them.
31The nazi in Pittsburgh shot up a bris (circumcision ceremony). That means at least one person present was an infant. I’m having trouble even processing today’s evil.
32When was it that federal agencies were told to suspend tracking white hate groups because the poor little special snowflakes were being ‘victimized’ and/or unfairly targeted? We can only hope state LE agencies have been keeping track of the miscreants such as the Bundy clowns in NV, the Idaho tater heads and the other arms stockpiling white nationalist friends of Donnie.
As FL candidate for Governor Andrew Gillum said to Donnie licking Ron DeSantis: “I’m not calling Mr. DeSantis a racist,” Gillum concluded. “I’m simply saying the racists believe he’s a racist.” That statement encompasses every snacilbupeR in Congress who fails to check & balance Dotard45. Hell, it’s the snacilbupeR in and out of Congress including those voters who give Donnie a pass on every one of his lies and repulsive actions and twitter rants.
Or, as we were warned by Pastor Martin Niemöller so many years ago: “First they came…” Stand with our Native American brothers and sisters, stand with people of perceived color, stand with MeToo and the young people of NeverAgain, stand with the LGBTQ, the Jews, and every population targeted by the white nationalist fiends of Donnie. As much fun as they are to mock, please do not underestimate the seriousness of the threat the cra-cra crackers represent.
33The Pittsburgh temple mass killer was pumped up by Trump’s frenzy about killer caravan refugees coming to kill America + the 46-year old anti-Semite conflated a Jewish resettlement organization’s posting about a fund raiser for refugees [to help them settle in Israel] + Redneckistani’s thoughts process: Jews helping Arab terrorists in Central America’s caravan!!! = “all Jews must die” mass murder this morning.
Trump went full on blame the victims…’if they had armed guards, the numbers would be better” <— show ratings lingo.
FYI: 4-armed SWAT members were shot by the AR-15….but security guards would not have been?
PS: right wing is already on it!!! A leftist mass shooter!!!! Anti-Semite didn't like Trump's 'globalist' links aka Jews married into the family.
34With such a group of mindless whacka doodles beleiveing any delusion put forth one must wonder when the D’s take control of the House will we have a new reichstag fire in D.C. to justify demented donnies desire for martial law?
35@k #35
At this point, anything is possible, unless a person or group declares “enough”, is able to stop it.
36A bit off subject but
Is anyone tracking how many “new” or “rarely” voters are coming out in early voring?
I remeber that during mail in voting one could go to county offices and get the names of people who had already voted. This was useful in getting out the vote calls etc. since there would be a, hoepfully, shrinking number of voters to target with calls and cards to get out the vote.
37Take that info and compare to voting databases tat show “historical” voters and one could get a read on how many are new voters.
Not cheap. Used to cost a certain amount per name to get info every day.
Different state then texas but I imagine that they are similar options.
Or has your ag declared voting records a national security issue that must be protected until thuglicans can purge the vote.
Please let’s call them what they are. Looney and DANGEROUS.
38So with news of unorganized mobs of armed wingnuts headed to the border to protect poor helpless texas from a caravan of underfed, unarmed women and children one will have
391) armed mob
2) Armed ice
3) armed government employed murders wearing blue and a badge
4) Military must assume armed.
5) Unarmed women and children
All coming together. If one shot goes off for whatever reason what are the odds that the “official” thugs in uniform will just start shooting women and children even if they know it was one of their own or of the armed mob that started it.
After all a few bombs in the mail meant nothing. A mass shooting in a synague was only worthy of a joke about a bad hair day so what does more dead and ignored women and children matter espiacially if they are not white.
Great back drop to voting.
Here in NC I am watching the Beto/Cruz situation, my daughter
40who loves Austin, lived there and went to college there has
a friend who is working for the Beto campaign, we are all Beto admirers. Anyway my comment is that I am very worried about reports of votes being switched to Cruz, is there anything being done about it?
God help us and our country to rid ourselves of these advocates for violence and hate. VOTE! VOTE! VOTE! for Democrats to take charge again and clean house. If Rethug gerrymandering and voter suppression/intimidation work to steal another election, we are lost.
41@k #39
I agree with all you have said. My worst fear is that ragged, unarmed people along with their families will be killed by these nutcases only because they come here asking for asylum to escape from violence in their country of origin.
@maryelle #40
I’m concerned what Nov. 7th will bring to our communities. Our country is lost to fascism if Democrats lose.
42Max Kerkpelman, what tRump is doing is a crime in Canada. Its called incitement.
43@maggie #43
Im not a lawyer, but I don’t think incitement is covered under the right to free speech in the US. But if I’m wrong, someone please weigh in and correct me.
44Incitement is what they got the Haymarket prosecutions on
But then Altgelt set aside judgement
By the way how is Alex Jones case going? Any updates?
45Papa, you’re not incorrect. The SCOTUS has been inclined to leave “freedom of speech” relatively unscathed. Coincidently, the court overruled Ohio in Brandenburg v Ohio (1969) in which it was ruled that Brandenburg and his KKK cohorts had the right to march, burn crosses and indulge in what many would regard as inflammatory speech. The key word was “imminent.” Often cited example is “yelling fire in a crowded theater” in which obvious imminent danger is clear.
That is not to say the case against the synagogue terrorist might not reach SCOTUS at some point, if he is charged with hate crime statutes above and beyond the murders, attempted murders and other crimes. That LE felt it necessary to increase security around synagogues and other places of worship in NY and other states immediately subsequent to the Squirrel Hill, PA attack. Government and defense lawyers could parse the key word of Brandenburg, “imminent” versus “immediate” in that circumstance.
The legal standard is high and solid in government vs individual rights to free speech. Private entities are entirely different. Facebook, Twitter and the social media sites such as Gab used by this alleged perp set their own standards, or lack thereof. However, subject to market pressure it appears Gab is disappearing, since none of the money passing platforms wants to be associated with it.
46Eventually at the office someone is going to raise a question as to blame etc. For a good while, after the infatuation of tRump wore off and his name was not even allowed to be mentioned, I am betting that circumstances will eventually bring up the question as to what I think of the possibility that tRump has a whale of a responsibility for the way things are, I will have to run simple on that one. Previously no one put much stock in my conclusions as to the morals, mental health et al. of the man so I am reduced to simplicities. I will simply have to tell them that he is the reincarnation of George Wallace. Now that man has been dead a good number of years and there are people around who have never heard of him. That means they will have to think and even do a Google search. Once they see the videos and hear the tapes, they might have a glimmer of understanding.
47maggie, you’re too kind. A George Wallace comparison may not capture the ‘full Donnie Dotard.’ It is important to remember that Donnie kept Hitler’s collected speeches, My New Order, on his nightstand. Unless a scholar, historian or researcher in another discipline, who would even have that garbage in their house? That the man who is known for NOT reading had time for reading those particular speeches says something. Anyone in the psych field here to help explain what that might be? Our ‘pResident’ is material for the FBI’s BAU.
