Let’s Make This Simple
Senator Chuck Grassley is terrified.
He is so afraid that Democrats are going to win the mid terms that he’s asking members of the Supreme Court even considering retiring to step down now while Republicans still control stuff.
“I just hope that if there is going to be a nominee, I hope it’s now or within two or three weeks, because we’ve got to get this done before the election,“ he told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt. “So my message to any one of the nine Supreme Court justices, if you’re thinking about quitting this year, do it yesterday.“
I don’t know why he just didn’t say, “Anthony Kennedy, please let Donald Trump replace you. Pulleeesssse.”
This is coming from the party who held up replacing a Supreme Court Justice for a full damn year.
And for the first time in 30 years, the senate confirmed a federal judicial nominee without the support of both the home states’ senators. Senator Tammy Baldwin’s objection to a nominee was ignored, although “Wisconsin’s other senator, Republican Ron Johnson, single-handedly blocked Obama from filling this vacancy for more than six years. Johnson did that by ― wait for it ― not turning in a blue slip.”
Set that to music and dance.
Re: Grassley – there is nothing like the smell of flop sweat in the morning!!!
1There are pluses and minuses to either mandatory retirement age or term limits for certain elected officials. I’m mostly neutral on the subject and generally its not on my bucket list. Then guys like Grassley and Dotard45 spew out their ignorance and I have to give the topic some thought. However, ageism is a dangerous slippery slope. Teddie Crooze isn’t ‘that’ old, but he sure serves as a reminder that competence should be the main criteria.
Go Beto!
2So, thoughts and prayers are good enough when it comes to stopping school shootings, but on a republican appointed Supreme Court Justice we need action now? Couldn’t Senator Chuck just pray that one of them might die?
I’m embarrassed that years ago, I used to say that I disliked everything Grassley believed in but I thought he had integrity. I guess I was young
3I’m ambivalent about the senators’ ability to block a judicial appointment in their state. As we see above, it’s good if our side can do it and bad if their side can do it. But if the only time the rule is thrown away is when their side is doing it, that’s a bad thing. It applies to everybody or nobody.
4I confess to sending my thoughts and prayers daily to every elected nacilbupeR as well as the con Supremes. I guess I hold no sway with the deity of my choice because so far none of them have violently choked to death on warm apple juice.
Now as far as the current and illegally elected POTUS, my daily thoughts and prayers are that he have some sort of catastrophic injury or organic disease that leaves him completely paralyzed but leaves all the other neurological functions perfectly intact. In other words, he can’t move… but he feels everything. And then of course I’d like him to experience physical pain in quantiles beyond his own vivid imagination.
5I consider myself a decent and compassionate person, yet, I fear that only Micr’s suggestion for pres Shithole, or perhaps “enhanced interrogation techniques” will ever teach him to understand the pain and suffering of another. I wouldn’t watch either one, nor would I stop them. A few stress positions, a day or two crammed into the smallest wooden box they can mash that bulbous belly into, a little waterboarding– he might emerge a change wanna-be-despot.
Grassley and the GOP are unAmerican traitors. And @#$%%&%#!!@$#@&!
6Traditions are only as solid as their practice. The Republican party has decided to end any that aren’t in their favor.
When the shoe goes on the other foot, they will scream and cry like the world is ending, and never take responsibility.
Snowflakes…
7I am reminded of a quote that I heard (no idea who said it) that pertained to Bannon at the time, but could be appropriate for several: “I hear he’s been ill, let’s hope that its nothing trivial”.
8Hang in there, SCOTUS, especially Judge Ginsberg, the cavalry is coming in November.
