Senator John Cornyn has removed his name from consideration as FBI Director.

The other Republicans in the Senate were pleading with Cornyn about it because they knew that Governor Greg Abbott would appoint Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick to the senate seat just to get him the hell out of Texas.
Dan Patrick makes Ted Cruz look sane and kind.
And Donald Trump look self aware.
And Justice Scalia look liberal.
Y’all, we really dodged the bullet on that one.
Could Abbott have appointed himself?
1Well, think about it. A Senator Dan Patrick couldn’t make the emasculated Senate any worse. He’d have to share power with 50 others and he wouldn’t have the bully pulpit he has in Austin. A Tweedle Dum/Tweedle Dee senatorial combination from Texas might even give us a few laughs. Though the rest of the country would laugh at us. And we wouldn’t see a Senator Patrick hovering behind McTurtle every time a camera’s on. Maybe there are some positives after all.
2The FBI won’t let you wear those fringe jackets. That’s why he withdrew.
3Even though he tried, Big John’s fringe was not quite “Hollywood Cowgirl” enough to fill the shoes of America’s most famous transvestite, J. Edgar Hoover.

5Now that that clown is out of consideration, let’s push for the appointment of a real Texan as director of the FBI: Willie Nelson.
6I so wanted Corny appointed FBI director. That get’s his ignorant a$$ out of the Senate.
If the Guv appoints Dan Patrick and Patrick accepts, Texas is better off and the Senate is no worse off.
Additionally, I suspect Patrick, being Patrick, is beatable come the election in which he would have to defend his incumbency.
Then of course Drumpf would likely fire Corny by say, mid-July so you have the possibility of Corny running against Patrick. Yes pass the popcorn indeed!

IMO Willie’s lifetime of … uhhh … experience would better be utilized over at Drug Enforcement Administration.
8I wholeheartedly concur with Micr. His first move would be to concentrate on drugs other than weed.
9He might be dumber than a bag of rocks, but he’s not politically suicidal. Cornyn wants no part of the Trump Sh*t Show.
10McTurtle would nail Coryn’s feet to the Senate floor rather than lose one more vote on any damn thing! As for Willie, gosh! Saw him perform once for a bunch of Democrats and loved it!
11With the publication of Comey’s memo, one wonders if this guy’s survival instincts might have kicked into high gear.
12What on earth is in Texas water that the rabid rethugs are drinking? Or for that matter all over? Fracking chemicals?
13Could he possibly have been worried about what the vetting might have turned up?
