Krugman: Going the Way of Rome?

Welcome to The World's Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc.
My name is Susan DuQuesnay Bankston. I live in Richmond, Texas, in the heart of Tom DeLay's old district. It's nuttier than squirrel poop here.
I am honored and privileged to know Miss Juanita Jean Herownself, hairdresser extraordinary and political maven. Since she does not have time to fiddle with this internet stuff, I type her website for her and you can read it if you want to. If you don't, she truly does not give a big bear's butt.
A lot of what I post here has to do with local politics, but you probably have the same folks in your local government.
This ain't a blog. Blogs are way too trendy for me. This is a professional political organization.
Krugman is a national resource. Now if we could only get everybody to read his stuff. Maybe we should hire a Russian hacker to insert a link to his website on infowars.
1P.P.–I love it!
2I heard that speech before in high school, undergrad and grad school. I was all set for this to happen during the Nixon Administration. It almost got there! Nixon quit and left town before the curtain fell. Gotta ask! Is this guy, CJ, even that smart?
3Funny he should mention this. Just last night I wrote a friend to remind her of PBS’ _I Claudius_ on Masterpiece Theatre.
In its interpretation, Claudius handed the post of emperor to Nero specifically in order to hasten the Fall. In the production, he repeatedly said, “Let all the poisons that lurk in the mud seep out.”
Sounds suspiciously like, “Drain the swamp,” doesn’t it?
As to the actual Fall 500 years later — it was more of a Nudge than a Fall. Yep — just like now.
Or, as Steve Schmidt so eloquently put it, “Fascism didn’t rise in Germany because fascism was strong. It rose because democracy was weak.” When he’s not grooming Palin for VP, he’s pretty good.
4Oops. I commented before finishing reading the article. Krugman wasn’t talking about the fall of the Roman empire. He was talking about the fall of the Roman republic. That’s a totally different thing. And even more to the point.
5Ahh, Steve Schmidt. The only Repub talking head that I actually enjoy listening to. I feel for the guy. He really isn’t represented by any political party.
I can usually tolerate Nichole Wallace, too. But she’s still prone to injecting nasty little digs into the discussion
