Klan Overboard!

September 07, 2020 By: El Jefe Category: 2020 Election, Alternative Facts, Trump

Social media is still laughing about the Trump boat parade turned mass shipwreck Saturday on Lake Travis.  The memes are making the rounds and some of my favorites are Poseidon For Biden, Klan overboard!, Lake Travesty, and Make America Sink Again.  The real irony of the day, though, were the metaphors for Trump’s America…it was the perfect Libertarian event; poorly organized, and poorly managed.  No one knows how many boats participated, how many where swamped, and how many people went into the water.  The clearest metaphor, though, was how people acted – the wealthy, in flag festooned boats as long as 60 feet sped through the water with no regard for the every day folks in smaller boats in the parade.  The resulting wakes are what caused heavy swell that engulfed those smaller boats, sinking at least 4, and swamping an untold number.

The wealthier people did what they wanted, without regard to their effect on others.  Those others lost, but no one knows how many because, Freedumb.   Just like today’s economy under Trump.

One of the best videos of the day, though, was by comedian Brent Terhune, who plays a MAGhat of the first order.  Here he tearfully describes the loss of his beloved boat, the SS MAGAritaville.

Be social and share!

  1. Freedumb!!!
It’s their god given constitutional right to screw over anybody they don’t like.

And that’s why Democratic Government’s were created, to protect us from people like that.

So funny, I should have swallowed my bite of milk and cereal before watching!
Sort of off subject, but about Trumpfs cult- been seeing Franklin Graham for Trumpf ads in Portland made specifically for Portland suburbs. If I were an evangelical that had been in a coma for a few years and woke up to find Trumpf is now the spiritual leader of my “religion”, what would I think? Hearing Trumpfs ranting, Jerry Falwell’s pool Boy stuff, and then Franklin Graham, I might become a non-believer.
I get as nauseated by F..ing Graham commercials as much as I do seeing and hearing Trump

It didn’t take long for the conspiracy theories to kick in. My favorite: Lake Travis is an artificial lake and the federal money for the dam that created it came through an influential politician named Lyndon B. Johnson. Therefore DEMOCRAT PLOT! Nothing to do with poor boat handling or alcohol.

I love the idea of LBJ reaching out of the grave to sink Donnie’s boats.

  5. Thank you, El Jefe! We cannot have too many metaphors for sinking the SS Donnie from now until Nov. 3rd.

From Nov 3rd to Jan 20, 2021, we will be needing every lawyer on deck to prevent this maladministration from destroying everything in its wake. If only every state attorney general would be as sharp as NY’s Leticia James.

ROFL with “Poseidon For Biden” … if not for the innocents living here would be flying a huge reproduction of that from our gatepost. However, we are way too close to the nasty nest of eastern Oregon for that to be anything other than a risky “hold my beer” gesture.

@Malarkey, #3: Yeah, “Dumbkirk” is wonderful, although I’m pretty fond of “Poseidon for Biden” too.

@Buttermilk Sky, #4: New twist on an old chant: “Hey, hey, LBJ, how many boats did you sink today?” I can hear the laughter from. . .well, wherever he is now.

There is something that the smaller boat owner/operators don’t seem to understand: Just because you can change lanes on the Katy Freeway at 75 or 80 mph does not mean that your boat will be as nimble when surrounded by other boats in rough water. It takes skill to maintain your position relative to another boat and when there is no designated leader/pace-setter, you’re going to have chaos. And just as in a convoy of freighters, the USS Reluctant — the slowest craft in the convoy — determines the pace of the group.

  9. Some years ago a friend and I hiked to a small beach next to tall cliffs. Signs said to be wary of the cliffs due to slides. We sat under the cliff and smoked a joint. Walking back we spoke of what if we were hit with a slide. My friend said they’d probably find a large pile of dirt with an arm sticking out holding a roach.

That photo of the boat on the bottom of the lake, with the Trump flag flying above the water, made my day.

  11. I heard that most of the problem was due to the pilots refusing to maintain the required distance between boats and getting caught up in the wakes of the boats in front.

It was pretty much inevitable with this crowd.

AP said 5 swamped boats: 3 that got towed to shallow water, 2 that sank to the bottom.

My favorite … appropriate for Texas Lake Boaters: the Proud Buoys.

And perhaps there was a bit of confusion … these folks went for Swamp the Dinghys, instead of Drain the Swamp.

Unfortunately, the sunk boat with the Trump flag was photoshopped – it’s a boat that sank in Michigan in June. But “Poseidon for Biden” is my new fave!

  15. Wow, lots of comments from/about Oregon. Eastern Oregon is red, but lots of pretty places. But definitely Trump country. Lot more land than people. Currently the state is on fire, along with Washington and, of course, California. Usually the wetter side of the state (west of the Cascades) doesn’t have many fires but it’s been very dry and hot so there have been many. We’ve even had some fires near the coast. Really awful. As for boating on Lake Travis, my Trump-hating cousin & her spouse boat there & really enjoy it. But they obviously didn’t join in the Going Down the Drink Fest.

  16. It is, rather, to laugh as much as that sounds cold-hearted! I grew up in Michigan, a two-piece state in touch with at least 3 of the Great Lakes. We had real bots on those ponds! Ginormous oar carriers, oil tankers, cargo ships piled way up too high with those metal boxes. And we had pleasure boats of all sizes and descriptions and that includes the old clunker that took us to Bob-Lo Island for a fun day. Lots of these biggies sank on the Great lakes, usually because of storms that are mostly oly seen on the oceans. I remember the Edmund Fitzgerald and the Rogers City and the Mariners Chapel in Detroit all decked out on the inside with banners commemorating dead sailers. That farce on Lake Travis was a landlubbers wet dream when it comes to the behavior of the bigger sharks – er, boats – eating the smaller ones.
