Keep It Up

August 20, 2020 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

So, today is turning out to be a pretty good day.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s office fought Thursday to reinstate the indictment against President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, according to court documents filed in the case.

They had originally dropped it because federal charges were filed. However, it’s not double jeopardy in this case because yada … yada … lawyer talk … yada … heretofore … yada …

Manafort and Roger Stone were longtime partners in a “political consulting” firm.  Are state charges against Stone on the way?

I’m hearing the sweet birdsong of buzzards in the distance. I don’t know who’s gonna last longer his majesty or my nerves, but this gives me hope!

  2. So far its been the state chrages that have been sitting in the corner that will likely bring these goons down!

    3
  3. And no presidential pardon for state charges!

So much news this week negative to Trumpf that it’s hard to choose what to comment on. I would add to the list the report today that nearly the entire Trumpf cabinet voted in favor of Stephen Miller’s plan of separating migrant children from their families, which has never really stopped and children have been permanently traumatized.
The swamp became a cesspool under Trumpf’s rule and it’s overflowing it’s banks and covering our democracy with a smelly stench.

I look forward to seeing Trump’s Presidential Library being at San Quentin …

  7. RepubAnon:
Since f**king trump rips up every precedent, norm, and tradition (and oh yeah, treaties), he shouldn’t mind if we if we break tradition for his library. The criteria for content will be only books he’s read. Porn mags and pop up book versions of mein kampf and the turner diaries.
It oughta fit in a medium size storage unit by the feeder road. No need for climate control.

  8. Oh, and the art of the deal.
    Again, pop up version.

  9. I’ll just add this comment here in the most recent post:

    Joe Biden quoted Kierkegaard tonight.

Donald Trump struggles with a Twitter zinger. He’s stuck on how to spell Kierkegaard.

    10
  10. Julia Louis Dreyfus was a surprise emcee at the DNC. She had the best zingers about Trump.

  11. Steve from Beaverton says:

Off topic but maybe not. Joe Biden’s acceptance speech tonight was inspiring. No way Trumpf can match that. His will be filled with hate while Biden’s was all about hope. Exactly what we need!

    12
  12. Steve@12:
IMHO, f**king trump will be inspiring as hell. To fascists.
But yeah Uncle Joe did great.

OT– [my earlier/earliest post on TD 14 got lost]:

Tropical Depression Fourteen is likely to hit the Texas coast near Galveston/Houston –as a Hurricane– around Tuesday evening.
While [present] TD 13 is hitting Panhandle Florida, the second time, after impacting Key West/S Florida on SundayMonday!

!!! This means that the Gulf Coast is very likely to have –TWO HURRICANES — hitting the US at about the same effing time, this coming Tuesday evening!!!
    An unprecedented event IMM.

One, TD 14/Kyle, striking near Galveston, the other, TD 13/Josephine, near the Florida Panhandle/Mobile [their names could be switched, depending on TS upgrade timing].
    Soooo, some interesting times ahead…

[especially for us weather nuts; and damn, another possible storm hit, after Hanna, on the big boat down in the Coastal Bend marina, sunofabitch…]

Rick @10: to be fair, I could not spell “Kierkegaard” without looking it up first.

When it comes to Trumpoids, my favorite philosopher is still Schiller: “Against stupidity the very gods themselves struggle in vain”. But I’m not accepting the nomination for president, which means I get to go low.

  15. Sandridge says:

OK, I got the names mixed.
Tropical Depression Thirteen is now Tropical Storm Laura, Tropical Depression Fourteen will soon be Tropical Storm Marco.
Both likely soon becoming hurricanes together in the Gulf of Mexico by Sunday. Look out Texas and Florida.

At least they will tend to limit each other, not getting to major hurricane levels as the GOM just ain’t big enough for two whopper cyclones.

    Sandridge:

National Hurricane Center shows TD 14 ramps up to a hurricane, but drops back to be “only” a storm by the time it hits Texas on Tuesday.

Laura’s “cone” now hints it will be a hurricane when it hits Louisiana/Mississippi on Wednesday afternoon.

Fine competition for the Republican storm that will be happening in Charlotte, Washington DC, and the internet.

  17. Sandridge says:

    john in denver @17,
Right, these NHC forecast’s projection data change constantly, the nature of the beast.
The earlier ones showed near simultaneous landfall timing. I had been following these systems for days, first posted here midday yesterday, since as a ‘wxnut’ I try to give early warnings to Salon denizens. But that message was lost somehow [since I’m being ‘monitored’ for my latest transgressions, posting is erratic ;] …].

You can always refer to the given storm archive pages, all the textual and graphics are kept, forever?, for each system that has any reports generated.
Good ‘ol NOAA, livin’ in the real data-driven factual scientific world, as opposed to Rethugland.
