Kapow! Kapow! Wait, Wait … Kapow! Some More.

Well, it’s just the wild west here in Texas since the legislature decided that everybody can and should have a gun. This immediately happened in Houston.

  1. Opinionated Hussy says:

“She didn’t aim or nothing. Just started shooting.”

Which is why untrained people should NOT own guns.

  2. megasoid says:

Texas Pandemic 2, 3, 4 and five all wrapped up in a single bill.

    2
  3. Stupid human tricks, brought to you by the Texas legislature.

    3
  4. Steve from Beaverton says:

Is this the Texas version of a karen? Awful plus armed.
So will this Texas law ban her of having a gun now if convicted? Probably not, just limit her from having more a couple while riding her bike.
I do hope her kid is ok.

  5. Nick Carraway says:

Maybe we could outlaw shooting while in transit, but what the hell do I know? I personally object to the big bad government for forcing me to get a license, insurance, and registration for my vehicle. We would be much safer without car control laws limiting our ability to drive from here to there.

    5
  6. CPS needs to remove the kid from the dangerous environment he’s living in.

    6
  7. Mike, you wouldn’t believe how bad some CPS outfits are as I came to learn in grad school. that really takes the cake, doesn’t it! Kinds in danger before and during CPS

  8. RepubAnon says:

“An armed society is a polite society.”

Question: what does Miss Manners say about shooting puppies?

    8
  9. Good point RepubAnon.

“Yes, I shot my child, but I was aiming at the puppy” isn’t a suspect’s strongest argument in their own defense.

    9
  10. This crazy biotch was just annoyed or frightened enough of a boisterous puppy to start blindly throwing lead around the neighborhood? JFC

Hardly notable anymore. Just watch the local news.
At least in San Antonio, and likely most other Texas big cities, on any given teevee local ‘newscast’ there will be one to four or five road rage and inter-personal shooting incidents covered [plus stabbings and bludgeonings, of course ‘if it bleeds it leads’ applies].
    It’s getting insane.

With the numbers of untrained undisciplined unrestrained yahoos now packing everything from .25cal pocket pistols to hicapmag Glocks, Sigs, etc., to ARs and AKs, in their sneakers to SUVs, one has to consider whether it’s even worth the risk of going out where these lunatics might be.
Roads, streets, shopping places, just about everywhere, there may be some hairtrigger asshole on the edge of blasting away. Ponder that a bit.

And thhennn— Just wait until Abbott and the Rethugs wet dream new unlimited unlicensed weapons carry law goes into effect in a few weeks[?].
Woohwee, every pindick Dirty Harry wannabe is going to be strutting around looking for an excuse to become a masterblaster.
    Damned ‘Good Times’!

  11. RepubAnon @ 8,

“An armed society is a polite society.”

Question: What would she say about shooting a classroom of kindergarteners or people shopping in a Wally Mart?

    11
  12. fenway fran says:

I googled Houston Shooting to find more info on this. The number of shootings in the last day or two pop up. At birthday party, at crawfish boil, etc etc. Good gawd, TX, you don’t need any more people with guns.

    12
  13. Buttermilk Sky says:

She should have used a Swiss Army knife. There’s a judge in California who says they’re practically the same as guns.

    13
  14. we have a high number of stupid folks in the USA.

    14
  15. The Surly Professor says:

Now this would not have been a problem if the kid also had a gun. Then he could have defended himself against his mother. That’s the NRA way: no problem can’t be solved without more guns.

Buttermilk Sky: it’s not just the swiss army knife analogy. The whole quote is the kind of letter an elementary school kid would write to his crush. His ruling knocking down the assault weapons ban in California has this doozy:

“Like the Swiss Army knife, the popular AR-15 rifle is a perfect combination of home defense weapon and homeland defense equipment. Good for both home and battle.”

You’d think he has stock in Armalite.

    15
  16. Mike in MO says:

    Buttermilk Sky @ 13,

And the knives are far cheaper, meaning you could own far, far more of them.

    16
  17. Jane & PKM says:

Seriously? That wingnut shot at a cute little puppy! As a bonus she shoots her own kid. She should be the poster child for a round of sane gun safety legislation.

    17
  18. So, as the dog`s owner didn`t run into his house when the firing was happening, I take it that this is an every day occurance ?

    18
  19. Elizabeth Moon says:

In the “Not just in Texas” department, another brainless female, from Tennessee but in Missouri at the time, in a fit of road rage because she was tailgating the car ahead and they flashed their lights to tell her to back off, drove up beside the car and shot into a family of six–parents and four children of whom the oldest was eleven–on their way to a vacation. Shot the dad in the hip, shot holes in the car, and zoomed away while the dad (driver) managed to get the car off the road safely. The 11 year old kid managed to get the car’s license number and remember it, so the police were able to find the idjit.

    19
  20. Elizabeth Moon says:

I forgot to add…the shooter-driver had two children in the car with her at the time, one of whom was specified as being her own. Just think of the safety issues…fast-moving car on big highway in traffic, two children in the car, and she takes a hand off the wheel to shoot out the opposite side of the car into the one she’s passing.

I would yank her parental rights, her driver’s license, and her firearm (any firearms found in her car or her home in Tenn) and make sure she gets a felony conviction so she can’t ever have a gun legally. I’m so mean.

  21. john in denver says:

still waiting for #1 person with a gun versus #2 person with a gun, and officers are called and then arrive on scene, making #3, #4 [and many more in some jurisdictions] with guns.

I’d bet that adrenaline and/or other drugs on scene means not every #1 and #2 will drop their guns and cooperate with police de-escalation

  22. DaddyWasATexan says:

What I can’t understand is how loose guns and Homeowner’s Associations can exist in the same state.
