Just You Wait…
It was just eight years ago that we all got ice water splashed in our collective face when Don the Con erased Hillary Clinton’s glide to victory. Then, four years ago, there was literal dancing in the streets when Joe Biden, as a youthful septuagenarian, kicked Bronzer Boy out of DC.
Now we’ve come full circle and await the onslaught of another four years of street brutality, migrant detention facilities, boons for billionaires, and overturned alliances.
And whatever else they can think of to throw in.
Times are bleak, and they don’t do anything for my ability to string two cogent sentences together, either. But I do hope to recover sometime before we bid a fond farewell to governmental sanity. Hopefully it will be short-lived.
Andy Borowitz, who authors the subscription website The Borowitz Report, seems to be similarly deflated. So much is the case that he filed this serious piece on his website, which is free for this one posting. .
I suggest you read it. It might help. It did help me somewhat.
Thank you….nice perspective from Borowitz.
1Loved that Borowitz piece. I put it on FB and sent it to all the relatives. ;-}
It brought back memories. Having been a McGovern and Mondale voter, it seemed I was totally out of step with the world when the votes were counted. The world knew Nixon was as guilty as sin and voted for him anyway.
IIRC, 70% of us wanted to invade Iraq even though the weapons inspectors told us they could account for everything the Iraqis had down to the part numbers. Where are those 70% now? They certainly are not the anti war MAGAs.
2Let’s hope a 3rd time don’t work.
3Thanks for this link. We oldies lived through those times as young people, and the memories are strong.
4Thanks. I probably never would have seen this if you hadn’t posted the link.
5Thanks for this, Half Empty. I need to sign up for the Borowitz Report.
Here’s another good daily that I just signed up for-

6Lo and behold, I hear a very tiny trickle of movement about midterm elections. I am delighted that Vindman won his seat. And other winners like Alsobrooks in the Senate. One thing we can count on hearing and seeing: the flying squad of tRump picks for White House jobs landing, then infighting to the point that the original group breaks up and leaves town one by one. And the screaming from certain industries regarding kicking out the “illegals”. When their labor is gone, so are a number of industries, some of which actually produce stuff for ordinary people who are going to be pissed that the ordinary stuff they need has disappeared.
7Thank you for the Borowitz Report. It is tremendously helpful to me to read things like this. Right now I’m still overwhelmed and trying to figure a way forward.
8Thank you.
