Just To Make You Happy
I know Alfredo over at the Dairy Queen and I seems overly concerned about the fake PACs who raise tax free money for political candidates and issues. Mainly, it just hacks us off because it encourages distrust in the system.
Not very often, but sometimes something is done to help stop it.
Scott B. Mackenzie ran up to 50 scam PACs over the years from 2011 to 2018. He joined Ronald Reagan’s presidential campaign in Los Angeles in 1979 as deputy treasurer, and he moved to Washington, D.C., in 1980. He remained active in Republican politics, and while I fully and completely support Republicans scamming other Republicans, it’s also very nice to see one get caught.
Mackenzie, who lives in Arlington, Virginia, was arraigned in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia in Alexandria. He faces a maximum of five years in prison, a fine of $250,000 and restitution of $172,200, according to court documents. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 21. His lawyer could not immediately be reached for comment.
Y’all, this guy even scammed for veteran causes.
On the upside, maybe he’d fundraise for Matt Gaetz next time.
