Just a Couple of Heads Up

October 01, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

General Wesley Clark is rallying VoteVets and the website keeps crashing.   If it comes back online, go sign the petition if you are a vet or know a vet.

And then there’s this salute to America’s veterans!

A group of veterans on Tuesday reportedly stormed the Washington, DC’s WWII Memorial, which was closed due to the government shutdown.

Stars and Stripes White House and Veterans Affairs reporter Leo Shane has been reporting from the scene via Twitter. According to Shane, Rep. Steve King (R-IA) helped by “distract(ing) a park police officer”  while the veterans “knocked down the fences.” Shane said the veterans were part of an Honor Flight group from Mississippi.

They don’t appear to be leaving.  And that’s why we call them heroes.

One more thing for those of you not on Facebook.

I wanna see Ted Cruz & John Boehner show up & face these WW2 heroes.

Then I want to see those 2 get their butts kicked by a bunch of elderly guys in wheelchairs who are more patriotic than the entire TPGOP flock of chicken hawks combined.

I got a copy of a long letter that a Libertarian friend wrote to the gummint re: shutting down the government and veterans’ benefits. He survived VN and married a VN woman. I told him I had signed a petition too and to keep yelling.

  3. Are those the Four Nutjobs of The Apocalypse?
How proud they must be of the chaos they have caused.

I smell a rat! King just happened to be passing by the memorial when the vets from his state just happened to show up, ya right!

What they have done is not just spiteful … it is pure mean hatefulness … I absolutely hate them and everything they try to stand for!

  6. Ms JJ, I didn’t sign but sent this reply instead to the email sender.
“I am not signing because I don’t know what conditions you support to effect this petition; ie, compromising away some of the elements of obamacare, SS, medicare, etc.
I don’t know whether opening the link will automatically sign me on.
I think you should be more clear regarding the bottom line conditions of ending a shutdown.
IMO, reluctantly, I am in favor of the shutdown as anything else is essentially a form of kicking the can down the road wherein it morphs into a 55-gal drum. Pay me now or pay me later.
Without some pain inflicted upon those who presently promote and benefit from this systemic cultural affliction, there will be no significant change.
As a retired service-connected disabled vet, I will suffer consequences from this 1% orchestrated CF along with many other vets.”

My Army son, still in, almost suicided out 3 years ago after his return from Iraq. I’ve met some of his combat vets buddies from 1st Cav, Ft Hood, and they all have suffered mentally and/or physically. But they have a bonding that is hard to describe except for those who have been there. This idea of group welfare appears to be totally lacking in today’s right wing.
I should hate these right-wing, religious hypocrites but I don’t because that would bring me down to their level. I don’t even like/dislike them but I do not respect them. IMO, they have knowingly sold their souls.

  7. I have a question. I read what “essential” employees means, and that Congress is considered “essential.” I can pretty well go along with that on one level. But I also read that furloughed employees by law can’t go to work, even as volunteers. So if Congress were not essential, it means that they couldn’t go to the Capitol and get us out of this mess. Is that right?
My students were surprisingly well-informed today about this. Although one did say, “Wait. The government is shut down?” The response was so vehement that they were almost all talking at once. It was heartening to hear. Maybe we need a bunch of 20-somethings in DC!!

Bill Clinton-it isn’t spite,it is more like implied truculence-something on the order of a dog with two bones and he drives himself mad because he can’t enjoy one bone because he has to watch the other one so no one steals it. Pretty soon he is so pre-occpied with hate for both bones, because he can’t enjoy either one, that his head explodes.

  9. I hope you all have seen the clips of the WW II vets at the memorial: smack-dab in the middle was ol’ Crazy Eyes Bachman…jumpin’ in there to get some creds and speak about how sad it is that the memorial was shut down– I have to just admire her b**** at complaining about the shutdown government THAT SHE DID… I do think the Dems are incapable of the chicanery that is being displayed by the second wave of John Birch. Lovely people, all of them. And I think that TX congressmen Culberson and the other one, the pajama king, are among the loveliest. I am writing ours, Pitts, every night. So far, he hasn’t replied.

    9
  10. Of course Bachmann hustled over there as soon as she heard– there were cameras!

And Rep. King is this guy, quoted in the WashPost:

Morale wasn’t helped by a statement from Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), reported in the Huffington Post. “It’s a temporary inconvenience for a lot of people,” he said. “But if Obamacare is ever implemented, we will never recover from that as a nation. We can never be a free people again.”

What color is the sun on his planet? In other words, Yo, your proctologist called, and they found your head.

I’m glad these veterans got to see their monument, such as it is, but could have done without the grandstanding Rs yelling that it was all the Dems’ fault. King also called Obama “spiteful” for closing the monuments. I guess he thinks Park Police get paid in air.

  11. President Clinton was too kind.

“Spiteful” is not a word I would have used to describe what these folks are doing.

“Lunacy” and “Ignorance” come to mind

    “Spiteful” was way too kind.

  12. Jan, those 20 somethings got to be better than the 4 year old -somethings that are there now.
