UPDATE: There have been questions who the reporter was. It wasn’t an actual reporter, but one of the propagandists for Trump on OAN (One America News) which is not really news. Her name is Chanel Rion (actually Chanel Nmi-Dayn Ryan. She changed her name when applying for credentials in the Trump WH). Here’s the whole thing with the Rion video:

8Bullies frequently employ the “a lot of people are saying . . .” tactic, when really they are the one saying it to a lot of people. It is a basic go-to tactic for Trump. Dunno who asked the question, but obviously a Trump supporter.

13My guess is Psaki’s predecessors from the golden idiot 45 regime are jealous and in awe. She can hold a news conference without a single lie. One Asinine News network better be better prepared for prime time or plan to be embarrassed every time.
14El Jefe, we will be needing roller skates and faster scrolling to keep up with Jen Psaki as press sec. Her greatest hits were awesome this week. The individual shown in the C-SPAN clip is definitely OANN Chanel Rion. It was ABC News reporter Mary Bruce given the ginger snap yesterday.
Maybe Ms. Psaki should play a few bars of Peter, Paul and Mary’s Where Have All the Flowers Gone before she take the podium. Emphasis on the refrain: when will they ever learn.
15Jen Psaki is a badass. When I first saw her briefing I noticed something, but couldn’t quite put my finger on it. It was the look she’d get sometimes. An intensity. It took awhile for me to remember what it reminded me of. There’s a scene from the West Wing when a general thinks he’s gonna steamroll over C.J. Craig in her office. Then he calls her kitten or somesuch. The look she gives him before and as she eviscates him reminds me of Jen Psaki’s. Allison Janney’s a force of nature as an actress and deserves every accolade she ever got. But she could probably do a few takes if she needed. Be shot from the best angle and overdub dialogue.

I will tell you something about her that other people may not have noticed. But I did, having taught speech under various names that the state came up with, for years. She learns. The first time I saw her I said keep your hands off your hair and lose the filler sounds. You know what? The next time I saw her she had. She either watched herself or somebody else watched her and told her. I really admire that.
17John #10: I know the question has been answered about the woman who asked the question, but wanted to fill in about Weijia Jiang (who you mentioned), who is something of a badass herself. She got into it with the FoGu (former guy) last summer at a press conference in regard to his referring to Covid in racist terms. I’ll see if there’s a recording.

19Silly season. If you thought the sexuality of Potatohead was inane, counting the days to the first press conference is inaner. And the so-called respectable networks picked it up.
I am glad I was a print journalist. I did not have to come up with a 4-second sound bite, which the teevee people do.
(I have spent the past 8 weeks studying McCarthyism. That involved reading a lot of politicians’ responses to questions from reporters. Stevenson gave brilliant respnses and would have been a star in the 4-secod age, but even allegedly bumbling presidents like Eisenhower sounded like Cicero compared to anybody on today’s stage.)
