January 21st

January 09, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

I have been asked to pass along the following information about January 21st.

If you knit, crochet, or weave, please make some hats for the march on Washington, DC.  Click right here for more information.

There is also a march in Texas.  Sign up today, TODAY, for a bus ride to Austin and save yourself a load of hassle trying to park.  I know of one last bus with empty spaces but the deadline is today.  It leaves and returns to the Target store on the Katy Freeway at Fry Road.  The cost is $30.  The deadline is today.

Thanks to everybody for the heads up.

Be social and share!

  1. For salon patrons who who would like to participate in the march but can’t make it to DC or are from foreign states here is a link to find what may be going on in your area: https://www.womensmarch.com/ Or what the heck, organize one of your own.

Also too, another useful resource: https://actionnetwork.org/

I’ma gonna make some fleece hats (pattern at JJ’s link) because I’m too slow with the knitting. It hasn’t been even 100 years since women won the right to vote. Y’all, let’s do what we can, where we can, when we can. It all matters.

  2. Took me a while to find the crochet pattern. I will pick up yarn on the way home and start tonight!

  3. For those in the Pittsburgh area, there will be a Progressive Protest at the Galleria in Mt. Lebanon, at 1:30, next Sunday at 1:30pm. It conflicts with the Steelers/Chiefs playoff game, but we have to prioritize. And you can check the score on your phone.

  4. Thanks for the hat info. I’ve forwarded the link to a friend who actually knits. Maybe she’ll send me one.

  5. I thought you were going to reference the knitting of Madame Defarge, in The Tale of Two Cities (Charles Dickens). Defarge knits, and her knitting secretly encodes the names of people to be killed when the revolution begins. Maybe we all need to start knitting.

  6. Jere Armen says:

There is also a march in NYC and one in Hartford (among many, many others).

I don’t knit, but I could make one out of duct tape . . .

Thank you for this post! I have just finished my hat and will make 1 more (a better one I hope) for someone at our Albuquerque Rally. Isn’t this exciting!

  9. Slipstream, duct tape will be fine. Please use pink tape or pink spray paint on the gray. Don’t want any of the doofi confused that it might be tin foil. ;>

  10. I can’t make the link let me find a local march. It asks for my email address and I was willing to do so. After finishing that I went back to the website and that same box popped up. I tried a variety of things but I got no response.

I Googled “womens march minnesota” and got the local information that way.

  11. Maybe the hats should all be black, along with the rest of the garb. Or at least wear a black arm band to show Mourning in America.
