Welcome to The World's Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc.
My name is Susan DuQuesnay Bankston. I live in Richmond, Texas, in the heart of Tom DeLay's old district. It's nuttier than squirrel poop here.
I am honored and privileged to know Miss Juanita Jean Herownself, hairdresser extraordinary and political maven. Since she does not have time to fiddle with this internet stuff, I type her website for her and you can read it if you want to. If you don't, she truly does not give a big bear's butt.
A lot of what I post here has to do with local politics, but you probably have the same folks in your local government.
This ain't a blog. Blogs are way too trendy for me. This is a professional political organization.
So…. you would think…..maybe…. people who want to win elections, might invest a little money in Texas politics?
That would help.
1Rethugs think it’s serious: they’re at term limits again!
2I think we oughta be out stumping for a new gubernatorial candidate. I am serious. Suggestions of anyone who would have at least some name recognition and a chance of raising money for a race? I like Wendy Davis myself. I’ve heard others mentioned but so far nobody has said “I’ll run!”–not anyone you can take seriously anyway. And if y’all contact Battleground Texas and have a venue for them, they’ll come and talk to you, work with you. Anyone have experience with them yet? It’s so easy to spread the money too thin. Help help!
3If that’s accurate, then the eschatologists can prepare for Armageddon in the Texas 1st, 27th and 36th Congressional Districts. The false prophets who represent them may suddenly find themselves headed in a direction they never intended.
4The electoral votes in PA may end up being split according to districts if the Repug governor, Tom Corbett has his way. This may not be the only state where they are trying to change the way these votes are calculated, so state races are of great import now.
5Turning Texas blue is a noble objective in its own right, but maryelle is correct about Pennsyltucky. The last time I looked, Michigan and Ohio were contemplating similar changes. (Thank you ALEC for the model bill.)
6What I find interesting is that if that happened, there’d be a screaming for getting rid of the Electoral College that would happen so fast you’d think a cheetah couldn’t keep pace.
And the winner in the Electoral College likely would be the loser by 5% in the popular vote.
Frightening thought, isn’t it?
7@Maryelle and Don A, what they are trying to do really scares me. However, I think if a Republican were elected president with a number of votes much less than what the Democratic candidate received, there would be a huge problem for the country. The gun nutz and Tea Party might get a big surprise they didn’t expect. I, for one may be old, but I would protest as loud and as long as I could and would travel far and wide to do so. I’d expect there would be a number of other people who would so as well.
8Ah June, I wish that was true, there’s just one problem that can be summed up with four numbers, 2000…….
9JJ you live there, so if you say Texas is in reach, well maybe. But you have Georgia blued on that map of yours and to that I say pass the doobie!
10Really, the only thing we need to turn the whole country blue is…
The Rapture
…honestly, can you IMAGINE how much we could get done around here if that whole crowd just DISAPPEARED?
11as of 2 days ago Wendy Davis has world wide name recognition and people willing to spend money to get her elected
