It Is With a Heavy Heart
I wrote this in the summer of 2016 for a magazine where I work. It was just after the last unspeakable horror in Florida, the Pulse nightclub.
I continue to scream.

Welcome to The World's Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc.
My name is Susan DuQuesnay Bankston. I live in Richmond, Texas, in the heart of Tom DeLay's old district. It's nuttier than squirrel poop here.
I am honored and privileged to know Miss Juanita Jean Herownself, hairdresser extraordinary and political maven. Since she does not have time to fiddle with this internet stuff, I type her website for her and you can read it if you want to. If you don't, she truly does not give a big bear's butt.
A lot of what I post here has to do with local politics, but you probably have the same folks in your local government.
This ain't a blog. Blogs are way too trendy for me. This is a professional political organization.
The orange orator is on the air right now with a marvelous gushing of platitudes. What his speech should be is “I was wrong, and I am reinstating the Obama gun regulations. furthermore I will be signing an Executive Order to ban all AR-15 weapons.”
1Until our legislative heroes make citizens more important than NRA dollars we will continue to have these problems. Sometimes the obvious is lost to those that follow some sort of insane logic (we need assault rifles to protect ourselves from our government) and so on it goes. In Central Texas I hear, “They are trying to take away our guns” on a regular basis. Either our education system has failed us or we are just a very dumb society. Either way…..Enough is Enough!
Vote out the GOP in 2018. That will be a start on the way back to some sort of national sanity. How can you look at America today and not shake your head in disgust.
2No, he cannot empathize. His kids went to private academies with only the $$ creme de la creme. If any of the students ever had a problem like depression, they had the opportunity to opt out of the school. With their bucks, there was always another school they could attend, and another and another, etc. They had options but then in the Golden Gibbon’s math, only winners have options. If any of his spawn ever got caught in such a situation you can bet his reaction would be totally different, but not because he could suddenly empathize. It would be his possessions, his property, needed protection. We have yet to see the GG embrace any member of his family in public or even semi-public.

This happens because this is how the NRA *wants* things to be…
time to use old faux news trisk
People have been asking if this shooter is a member of Ted Cruz’s family and if so is the mental health problem hereditary? Do we have to worry about ted going, as it used to be referred to, as “going postal”? Just asking since they have the same name and same political perspective. Only reasonable to ask.
Then again his supporters might find relationship to a mass murderer as a positive thing, After all texaz official praised slave holding traitor in just the last couple of weeks.
5k, I don’t know if he’s the same Cruz family, but keep in mind that Teddie argued the Heller case that convinced the Supremes to skip the part about a militia and just go with the part about “right to bear arms.” So he’s a big contributor to the current situation, related or not.
6Interesting that Drumpf and the Rethugs are bringing up the mental health issue, when they passed a law allowing the mentally ill to purchase guns and stripped the healthcare law of coverage for mental health. If this isn’t a huge issue in the mid-terms, I’d be extremely shocked.
