Indiana – Please Get Out Of My Uterus

March 28, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

The Bible Thumpers in Indiana have figured out another way to harass women seeking an abortion.  You’d think they’d have exhausted all options, but noooooo….

A new state law directs Indiana doctors and hospitals to compile and submit a detailed report every time a woman seeks treatment for a physical or psychological condition that is in any way connected to a past abortion.

Starting next year, a care provider who fails to submit an “abortion complications” report to the State Department of Health risks being charged with a Class B misdemeanor, punishable by up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine, for each instance of noncompliance.

The government has no damn business knowing my mental or physical state.

So I wonder if they plan on repealing Hipaa laws or just ignore them and hope nobody notices.

How ’bout this?  How ’bout the State of Indiana gather data and a psychological profile of anyone who owns an assault rifle?  How’s that fit in your underwear, Bubba?

Thanks for the heads up to “So mad I could spit nails at the IN legislature”

  1. This what happens when the nut jobs have too much power.
They return to the womb. I can’t see many doctors going along with this ridiculous abuse of human rights. Hopefully the ACLU files suit along with the AMA.

    1
  2. And who is it that will rat out to the government on such problems with a patient? There is that good old doctor patient relationship thingy, ya know. This is where I start imagining that the RWNJ’s plant nurses and techs in such clinics and hospitals that will spy on whatever and become government informants. Remind you of any one of a number of countries on the globe now where spying and informing are careers paths from poverty?

Don’t get mad. Return the “favor.” Form a registry of all the forced birthers who want to play doctor without a license. Then round them up for a complimentary vasectomy at the WMDBS. Don’t forget to remind them that anesthesia is for wimps. If Thelma asks, sharpening her scissors is optional; her choice.

  4. “a physical or psychological condition that is in any way connected to a past abortion.”

And they’re supposed to know this how exactly?

Another easy and offensive solution to a complex non-problem, brought to you by the GOP. And if it screws women, people of color, or the fiscally disadvantaged, that would be them too.

Oh, take these horrible tiresome people away, though it’s hard to think of a country I’d wish them on. (A majority of the Russian populace thinks Putin is doing a fine job, but most of them don’t remember the USSR days.)

Rhea, for eons the religious wrong have been promising to either end time or rapture themselves off the planet. That should be sufficient time to be considered adequate due process so that we can simply launch them off the planet and hope for the best.

  6. James Cargas says:

Indiana is not as large as Texas. It would be an easy drive to Illinois, Michigan, and even Ohio or Kentucky.

We are becoming a less “united” states of America, where blue states and red states have radically different laws, rights and economies.

  8. Jane & PKM says:

James Cargas, why should a woman be forced to travel outside her own community for health care? That definitely places an undo burden on women without the financial means to travel to seek health care. If the religious wrong don’t like it, they’re free to take a healthy dose of MYODB and maybe a course in doctor/patient ethics.

    8
  9. If Indiana is so concerned about the general welfare of it’s citizens, maybe they should direct Catholic priests and psychologists to file a report anytime someone who owns a gun confesses to or discusses violent tendencies?

    9
  10. RE WX: Just posted it because the mesosystem that has been pounding us all night is moving ENE and the SPC thinks it will intensify.

    On topic:
I always avoided IN if I could, it seemed a backward place even fifty years ago.
Today it just needs to be totally boycotted. I’m waiting for somebody to post a list of IN-based companies that I can cease trading with.
    Screw them all.
And this topic is one that I normally avoid, as a male and still a little conflicted about it, but these damned biblethumpers are going extra-legal IMO. With no respect for our laws or Constitution, they DO want a fascio-theocracy here).

Wish that something would ‘rapture’ their sorry asses gone ASAP.

  13. How ’bout a registry of all the beneficial aspects of abortions?

One less child for society to support because the mother did not have the wherewithal to do so herself?

  14. I used to live near Gary, IN, aptly named the armpit of the country. You could tell when you were getting close by the strong funk in the air. Indiana’s also the state that’s suffering and AIDS epidemic because they couldn’t be bothered to fund a needle exchange program.

    14
  15. For years I’ve wondered if you wanted to give Earth an enema where would you stick the tube? My first thought has been Texas, given it’s snacilbupeR con traditions. Then I think, well maybe Oklahoma ’cause y’know it’s Oklahoma. But Indiana might just have skyrocketed to the top of the list. Who knew?

  16. Jane & PKM: “sharpening her scissors is optional,
My mom, grandmoms, had those ‘pinking shears’ thingies, with the jagged edges like a serrated knife edge.
Bet those things would work just fine as RWNJ neutering tools.

“Pinking shears are scissors, the blades of which are sawtoothed instead of straight. They leave a zigzag pattern instead of a straight edge.”

  17. Sigh. KY just outlawed abortion at 11 weeks, though I suspect it will be overturned as it violates Roe v Wade and Casey v Planned Parenthood.

Jane, I agree about the forced vasectomies. For certain, anesthesia is for wimps and not for gun-totin’ red-blooded Amuriccan men.

Once again, time for women everywhere to read Aristophanes’ Lysistrata.

    17
  18. @Wayne, “Indiana is the New Jersey of the midwest.”

Really? We have a Dem governor and legislature, 2 Dem senators, strict gun control laws, and here, a woman has the right to privacy with regard to the full panoply of medical matters in accordance with the law of the land (the right to choose, in other words). We ain’t the purtiest state, but by gum, we ain’t the worst.

Indiana could only wish to be NJ these days.

  19. My Alaskan granddaughter went to a university there for four years. She said the people were really strange in Indiana.

  20. Its too bad these religious aholes are not complaining about the xtian taliban and the xtian sar-rya-ss Law. When isLame does this it is terrorism, xtian do the same thing its gawd’s will, a bunch of women hating hypocrites!!!

    20
  21. Like I said, how in the blazes are they going to enforce this law? Commandeer private/personal/privileged documents from doctors? Raid their offices? Waterboard personnel? If the RWNJs really push this, it may even shut down ALL hospitals and clinics etc. And then when a RWNJ’s granny needs surgery fast, where do they go? to the local vet?

    21
  22. NJ gal, thanks for sticking up for NJ, home of my beautiful grandchildren. NJ has been #3 in solar capacity for years behind much sunnier and drier states. Way to go NJ!

    22
  23. This could presage the loss of health care, generally, for the women of Indiana. After all, if a doctor has any women on her/his patient list, how long will it be before the state simply assumes non-compliance if no negative effects of abortion are filed?
After all, the members of the Indiana legislature obviously have their minds made up — women are suffering terrrrrrible guilt! This problem must be addressed! So let’s just toss some people in jail till they fess up.

So, the simple solution? Just stop treating women patients. Problem solved.

    23
  24. Indiana should, if it’s going to be looking into “effects of abortion, also look at effects of not obtaining a desired abortion. I want a complete listing of all the mental, physical, economic, and social sequelae of being *denied* an abortion. Including the effect on a woman’s educational prospects, her employment, the health (physical, mental, emotional) on all other family members including children of prior and subsequent pregnancies, etc. Because there can be lots and lots and lots.
