I’m Fessin’ Up

April 20, 2016 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

I have stayed coy about who I support for President, but I have a confession to make: I have been sad since Elizabeth Warren said she wouldn’t run.

Here’s why.

Ted Cruz send out a whiny fundraising letter about all the sacrifices he’s making to run for President. He whines about no sleep, no time with family, health care is limited, relatively little access to porn, can’t smoke dope … okay, I made some of that up, but you get the picture.

Elizabeth Warren responded on Twitter:  “Two words – boo hoo.”

And then she set about ripping Cruz to shreds.  She took each of his complaints and brought them home in the light of day.

Ted’s obviously never been to boot camp, taught kindergarten, hosted a teenage sleepover, mowed his own damn yard in Houston summer, or carried his own plate to the kitchen, dammit.

Right now, I am watching the teevee where the National Guard is rescuing people trapped in their homes.  They have to walk through overflowing sewers to do it.  Shuddup, Ted.  Just shut the hell up.

Thanks to everybody for the heads up.

Be social and share!

Loathsome Ted by inference is correct about one thing: there is no easier job than being a nacilbupeR in the Do Nothing 114th Congress.

And for that matter neither has Drumpf, Ksuchasheis, and a whole herd of other wannabes. While at some level I agree with those assertions, if they are true in the purest sense then likely only Joe Biden is qualified. I think even Hilary would have trouble with some of them, as would Bill and Obama. They are not the be all end all. But what they are as collection are an assessment of heart. And that Bill, Obama, Hillary and Bernie possess in great quantity. Heart is the difference.

I once said I would never vote for POTUS a candidate who had never as a military officer written a letter to a grieving mother explaining how her child died on his watch. Writing that letter takes a combination of courage and heart (compassion). There hasn’t been a nacilbupeR qualified since maybe Eisenhower.

    Heart and intellect.
    /Rant over

My apologies. snacilbupeR pi$$ me off.

I read Elizabeth’s response to Ted’s “Poor Me” missile … He must think if he were to EVER be President, that it would be all feather beds and sitting with his cowboy boots up on the desk in the Oval Office. Evidently, he just thinks being the President of the U.S.A. is a damned walk in the friggen park!! Maybe he should talk to someone like Barack Obama or Bill Clinton or even Jimmy Carter!! Bush would just say he doesn’t recall cause he spent so much time on vacation during his run as the President!! However, he did get some wars going and pulled brush at the Ranch and played a few rounds of golf.

Perhaps Elizabeth will consider running for President the next time around but, for now, we need her right where she is!!

I’m with you, JJH. It broke my heart to take my Rosie-the-Riveter/Elizabeth-Warren-bumper-sticker off my car the day she made the announcement.

I replaced it with We-Want-Bernie! but, last week, he lost me. HOW does he propose to unite the party after that diatribe? Does he REALLY want to usher Hate-everyone-who’s-not-just-like-me Donald, Lyin’ Ted or Sleazeball Paul into the Oval Office?

  5. Let me fix it for Senator Warren

    Momma ….. look away.

    Y’all have a good day.

We all are just trying our best to stay safe and dry.

Cruz father should rethink – God has chosen him to be President. An asinine suggestion that should piss the Deity off.

  8. Sandridge says:

    @Micr,
You overlooked several vet POTUS’s after Ike: JFK, Jimmy Carter, GHW Bush were officers, although only GHWB is a Repuke.
I think G Ford was a vet too, Reagan was a celluloid stage officer only, with no actual hands on military service.
GWBush was also an ‘officer’ in the TXANG, though most likely ever without any reporting subordinates (and we all know how he bugged out of his last year or so of military obligation).

JFK and GHWB saw combat, and may have had occasion to write such letters. Carter of course was part of the “Cold War”, still dangerous duty; but may have had accidental casualties.

  9. Warren / Gillibrand! That’s the ticket!

    9
  10. if we’re lucky, Sen. Cruz will be sucked back down into the black hole from whence he came. unfortunately, we aren’t going to be that lucky, and we’ll be stuck with him for another 20 years. at the end of that 20 years, he’ll be just as oblivious as he is now.

    Sandridge@8:

Gerald R. Ford, Jr. (aka Leslie Lynch King, Jr) served during WWII as an instructor and on board the aircraft carrier USS Monterey in the Pacific in 1943 and 1944.

    11
  12. @Sandridge

    Yeah I skipped over Dems.

But I don’t mind an opine or two aboot ’em…

Bush 43 was a habitually unsatisfactory TxANG “officer”. At some point in spite if owing TxANG some time he was promoted to civilainhood. Of course a coked up F-102 pilot may be less than a good idea. Wash.

Bill had no military service. Remember he “loathed the military”.

Bush 41 found himself with a right fine little war and dived right in. Later he augered in, while driving a TBM torpedo delivery system. He’s Navy. Looked cute in his ice cream suit.

Reagan made propaganda films for the USAAF during WW2. Classic example of round peg jammed into round hole.

Jimmy Carter survived years in the nukalur navy with Adm Rickover. Nuff said. That service alone justifies elevating Carter to Benevolent Dictator for Life im<ho.

Jerry Ford, in spite of years of playing futbol for Michigan without a helmet, served in honorably in the Navy during WW2.

Tricky Dicky served also in the Navy during WW2, as a transport officer. Got a Letter of Commendation as well.

LBJ was in Congress and right after Pearl Harbor was majicked up as an O-4 naval reservist. Dougie MacArthur figured out a way to majick LBJ a Silver Star for being an observer on a B-26 with a bum generator.

Rich boy JFK used his father's influence and power to force his way into the Navy then into combat. Having his motor boat sunk under him enraged his inner bada$$ and the rest is history.

And that takes us to Ike, who in spite of his nacilbupeR-ness served honorably and well in the Army. I have read two letters he wrote shortly after D-Day to families of officers killed on Omaha beach. They belonged to Bradley but he handwrote letters as well. Not the cause was just and their lives contributed to success both on the beach and inland. Highest traditions of service etc etc, but "I knew him. He was a bright young man. Its tough to see him and so many other lose their lives."

  13. Sandridge says:

    eyesoars@11,
Tks, I thought so, but slow internet kept me from Wikipedia’ing it (those were peak WWII combat years too, my uncle was KIA aboard the Fletcher class destroyer USS Boyd on 8Dec1943 off Nauru).

    13
  14. Sandridge says:

    Micr@12,
Tks, wasn’t sure about Nixon and LBJ (dimly remember LBJ’s service).
JFK certainly had the background for PT’s as a sailor-yachtsman, IIRC he needed to ‘bend’ a physical impediment slightly to get in, but he did volunteer for about the most hazardous duty there was (in the Navy anyway).

There’s a story about GHWB-41’s splashdown too, put out by some R election opponents once; really vile, worse than that smear against McLame (by W-Rove). Of course McLame did lose five expensive aircraft, several his own fault (which would have washed out anyone not an admiral’s son in a heartbeat).

And then there is good ol’ five-deferment Dickus Cheney (ChickenHawk General, not Rtd), warbird par putrescence…

    14
  15. @Sandridge

I never supported McCain but I also don’t support second guessing a man’s service years afterward. Criticize McCain’s crashes yes. At least the one’s B of Inquiry determine as majority pilot error. Criticize McCain’s son of admiral tenure when anyone not a son of admiral would bounce from the naval service like a Slinky down stairs.

As an 18year old I negotiated with my AFROTC colonel a way to get into F-111s or something similar. My historic performance of the AFOQT and my family’s exemplary enlisted service in the our country’s Corps of Marines and Navy could not overcome 20/50 uncorrected vision. I even promised cross my heart not to napalm the wrong peaceful southeast Asian village. His best offer was missile silos in North f’ing Dakota. We parted ways. I cudda been anuther JFK!!

    15
  16. Mary Beth says:

My dad served with both LBJ and John Connelly. I remember my mother saying shaking hands with Connelly was an experience. Huge hands. Eat your heart out, Drumfp.

    16
  17. Sandridge says:

    @Micr,
I agree: “North f’ing Dakota”, yikes.
It might be an apocryphal family story, but supposedly my above Navy uncle also had a slight vision deficiency, he then ate a bunch of carrots for a while (as advised) and passed the test (he taught at Great Lakes before becoming a USS Boyd plankholder).
Little known is that GHWB-41 took some advanced flight training at the (former) Grosse Ile NAS at the end of the Detroit River/Lake Erie. A mentor of mine guarded the place as a USCG officer (partytime at the island mansion that served as OQ’s back then).
A recent addition to the family, an AF vet, was trained as a pilot, but eventually had to give it up for a desk job due to a persistent ‘motion/air sickness’ type problem, go figure. I’ve only had a moment of queasiness once in many decades of sea, air, and land movement (some of it mighty radical, as in storms, etc).

    17
  18. I guess I’m one of the few who is delighted that Warren chose not to run. We need our Lioness of the Senate right where she is. I’m glad she’s not out campaigning in this farce of a race.

That said, I’m increasingly pleased with Hillary’s performance. She may be in the middle of a circus, but she seems to be the one with the whip. I just hope her foe will be Donald Trump.

    18
  19. BTW, a nice present for Elizabeth would be a Democratic Senate in 2017. Let’s work on that.

    19
  20. WA Skeptic says:

I definitely agree with LynnN; Ms Warren is definitely the Lioness in the Senate.

So, HRC in the Oval Office, keeping things official; Bernie in the VP spot, keeping things going for the people.

    Win/Win/Win!!!

And definitely dump the lazy bastids who take the money but won’t do the work.

    20
  21. Polite Kool Marxist says:

WA Skeptic, in the interest of protecting 2020 and beyond, I hope whoever is the Democratic nominee selects a running mate who is younger than either of the candidates. Bernie or HRC for four years is fine by me, but someone who is able to take the following 8 years is a must.

No more snacilbupeR in my lifetime or the next one hundred years; whichever comes first!

    21
  22. AliceBeth says:

Some day after we are all dead and gone, Elizabeth Warren should be on US currency (if it still exists). I have never heard her say anything with which I disagree.

    22
  23. Sandridge says:

    @Mary Beth,
I can see the Connally Ranch from my back deck (house deck, not boat deck).

@Micr, looking through some Wiki pages, etc., my uncle’s destroyer served in some actions with Ford’s carrier in the summer and fall of 1943; and later too in the same Task Groups, interesting connections (of course he, my unc and dad were all born about the same time, into a much smaller world).

    23
  24. Linda Phipps says:

Warren rocked the internet with her judicious flame, applause all over the place.

    24
  25. Fenway Fran says:

Bernie should stay in the Senate where he can help EW get s@$t done. If he can get reelected. More diversity both personally and geographically will work better for VP.

I love EW, too. But after reading her book, I really got the impression she was not all that interested in being President at the time, that it might be too frustrating (like is has been for Obama) or suck the life out of her. Maybe just my gut feeling. She will be a mover and shaker in the Senate for as long as she wants to be, and will also be a great high level appointee.

    25
  26. Warren is my hero! Let’s put her on $50s, Eleanor Roosevelt on $10s, Sandra Day O’Connor on $5s. We’ll go back to the Sacajewea $1 coin, no bills. Ditch pennies. We’ll think about who we’re putting on the coins.

I really like Ben Franklin. He was fairly bizarre and must have been quite entertaining in the day. I mean, you don’t have to understand all about electricity to know it’s not a good idea to stand on top of a hill in a lightning storm. Ben can be the token male.

    26
  27. okie-dokie says:

Senator Warren can do the same as the late Teddy Kennedy – stay in the senate. He did a lot and she is just getting warmed up. Much as I adore Bernie he can stay in the Senate. Senators Warren, Sanders, Sherrod Brown, Durbin and maybe even future Senators Duckworth and Grayson can keep President Clinton to the left. She will break our hearts but we know she will be getting excellent advice. Too bad the establishment Democrats hold we liberals in such contempt. We are a natural part of the Democratic base.

    27
  28. Elizabeth Warren = Senate Majority Leader. I like the way that sounds! Hill is going to need all the strong Senators she can get in order accomplish anything in her tenure. There will be just enough rethugs still left limping around to screw things up in committee on technicalities.
