I Was Wrong

August 07, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

When Trump got elected and I said he’s gonna kill us all, I thought he was going to get us into a nuclear war, and he still may, it’s still early in his term.

But, I have changed my mind – he’s gonna kill us all with the Environmental Protection Agency.

Get a load of this crapola.

I am not jacking with you.  Asbestos is back and it’s just as deadly.  There is no Clean Coal and there is no Breathable Asbestos.  Maybe they’re making it in refreshing mint flavor, I dunno, but I ain’t breathing that stuff.

Now, here comes the best part.  Wanna know who makes the most asbestos?

As the world’s largest exporter of asbestos, the Russian company Uralasbest operates an enormous open mine nearly half the size of Manhattan in a mountainous town 900 miles northeast of Moscow, according to the Center for Public Integrity.

And guess whose picture is stamped on their pallets of asbestos?

Aw, come on – this ain’t hard.  This is like second grade math. Follow the money.  It’s at the end of the dead bodies.

Thanks to SGray for the heads up.

Last I heard, they were trying to figure out how to demolish one of his Atlantic City casinos without dispersing asbestos into the air. Yes, even in the 1990s this idiot was using asbestos in his buildings.

Holy. . um. .Toledo! Returning asbestos to manufacturing is not just nuts, it’s guaranteed to make people sick, if not dead. Environmental Protection Agency, my foot. Trump is a greedy SOB who has sold out to the Russians, at the expense of all the rest of us. He’s not just unfit to be president, he’s unfit to be out of jail.

  8. Hell, the annual deaths* from just one disease caused by asbestos, malignant mesothelioma, are only about 3,000 per year, we can do a lot better than that!
Russia now produces about 55% of world production, let’s help them increase that.
Eliminate those EPA regs, import millions of tons of asbestos from Russia, plus restart our own production (which was banned by the EPA in 2003). The Canadians can also reopen their mines. More jobs!
Put asbestos back into filter cigarettes too, so good for you!

Make America Grate Again!!! RAT45 is our messiah!

    Rise in Mesothelioma Deaths
    By Cara Adler
Edited by André Sofair, MD, MPH, and William E. Chavey, MD, MS

The annual number of deaths from malignant mesothelioma increased nearly 5% from 1999 to 2015, despite regulatory efforts to reduce asbestos exposure, according to a CDC analysis of death records in MMWR.
During this period, 45,000 deaths were attributed to malignant mesothelioma in people aged 25 and older. Some 6% of deaths were in people younger than 55. The annual number of mesothelioma deaths increased from 2479 in 1999 to 2597 in 2015. By demographic group, the number increased in people aged 85 and older, in men and women, and in whites, blacks, Asians/Pacific Islanders, and Hispanics.
In terms of death rates, the age-adjusted mesothelioma death rate decreased nearly 22% over the period, from roughly 14 to 11 per million population. …

    Does Canada take retirees?

    10
  11. lazrgrl says: …Does Canada take retirees?

Canada, like almost all desirable places one might wish to move to, has very strict immigration requirements and controls (unlike the US until recently).
If you’re a “retiree” wanting to emigrate to Canada* (and most other worthwhile places), about the only way in is if you’re a very wealthy retiree (“Individuals with a certain net worth can also apply for permanent residence via certain programs.[32]”).
I’ve looked at it, even with a Canadian mom, it would be a big challenge to barely qualify (after selling off almost everything).
These countries basically want (young) highly skilled worker immigrants, or someone bringing a bunch of investment money of any age.
Everybody else is welcome to visit, but don’t hang around too long.

I used to cross both the south and north US borders often. The Mexican Aduana might look around the vehicle sometimes (or at the airport), but mostly just wanted a bit of mordida. The Canadians were very stringent and probing, with lots of questions and sometimes inspections; very polite and pleasant, but steely no nonsense types.
Never a hitch with the US BP, one or two questions and it was: ‘OK, pay the Texas beverage stamp guy over there’; living a few miles away made it a frequent and easy trip, usually at least once a week.

Immigration to most all (Anglo) Commonwealth countries is similar to Canada’s, tough. Even Mexico has quite detailed and stringent requirements, both for residence and long term visitation.

I was talking about emigration earlier today, as it happens. I know that people who can prove direct Irish lineage are eligible to claim citizenship there; I was wondering if any other countries have a similar policy.

  14. Well, don’t count out the possibility of nuclear war. One small thing I would suggest to you is to stock a supply of potassium iodide tablets. That seems like just a small thing, but it could help. It is a recommended ingredient for your emergency supply kit.

I never had one until I started looking at the odds of fire and earthquakes in the area where I live in the hot summer months. Then I was given a list of things to stock, and this was included. When I researched it and found out why, I had to agree and bought some.

KI (potassium iodide) is a salt of stable (not radioactive) iodine that can help block radioactive iodine from being absorbed by the thyroid gland, thus protecting this gland from radiation injury. The thyroid gland is the part of the body that is most sensitive to radioactive iodine.

  16. JMO, I don’t think there are many countries that like Americans. Our media has not helped our image at all. American tv reality shows like Honey Boo, Duck dynasty, etc, that were seen by the world, portray us as rude, crude, backward, ignorant, and loud. Media coverage of Trump’s rallies have only served to further reinforce that image.

Panama still likes Americans. Lot of expats down there.
Personally, I think I could get used to Panama. Mild weather, choice of two ocean beaches, reasonable food, and reasonable good medical.

    17
  18. Jill Ann,
Mere Irish “lineage” won’t get one an Irish citizenship. Only having one or more of your parents or grandparents “were born on the island of Ireland” will get you a “Foreign Births Registration” status, which might lead to citizenship. My Irish came over in the 1820’s, so grandsx4 don’t get it.

The other paths to Irish citizenship are similar to other 1st world countries like the UK Commonwealth:
Mostly they want only (young) skilled workers, or wealthy investors. Older US Q’Tips need not apply (middle-age or retired types).

For Ireland, even a “Stamp 0” status (for non-visa req’d people like US ‘zen), which allows a longer in-country stay, and might lead to a citizenship, requires a minimum E50K/yr income (~$80K US), and sufficient liquid assets to meet a major expense like a health problem (they use having the price of an Irish home as an example, which I’d guess is $300K or so).
    http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/Stamp%200

Their “Investor” class programs require a minimum E1M ($1.6MUS) Irish direct biz investment, and lots more stuff.
There is a strict 90 day limited Ireland tourist period (Schengen), so move on dudes.

  19. If Trump starts a nuclear war, we can now line our bomb & fallout shelters with asbestos, for added protection. It’s a clear, consistent, and coordinated policy decision.

    19
  20. That Other Jean says:

If Trump starts a nuclear war, this household stands no chance: we’re between DC and the port city of Baltimore–one definite and one likely target. It’s all for the best, really, since we wouldn’t last long in that kind of postwar world. We really need to get rid of 45 and his henchmen (and women) before it gets to that. Hurry, Mr. Mueller! Everybody else–vote blue!

    20
  21. Speaking of nuclear war… for a really depressing look at what that might look like go here: http://nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap/

You can “play” with the locations and settings to see some different results. For instance using the Trident 2 warhead yeild size (475 kiloton) per mirv (trident 2 carries up to 23 mirvs per missle) and you get this:
    http://nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap/?&kt=475&lat=29.7604267&lng=-95.3698028&hob_psi=5&hob_ft=7994&psi=20,5,1&zm=11

Not only scary, but just really depressing.

I’m ashamed, or would be if I had any, that I initially thought someone had finally got Susan to fall for something so transparently fake as the face of the President of the United States on pallets of asbestos from a Russian manufacturer and the President then legalizing the use of asbestos. Four too many margaritas, I thought. As if there were such a thing as too many.

And then to see Snopes label the claim as unequivocally true. I’ll just go back to sleep until tomorrow.

    22
  23. Seriously. This is where the longshoremen union comes in. they can refuse to unload the stuff. When Trump calls out the Army to force them to touch the pallets all hell will break loose. I’m to kidding U.S. manufacturers will quietly endow the ILU while fuming at Trump.

  26. And now it’s coming out * that a Mar-A-Pendejo triad of civilian scum have been given the keys to the Veterans Administration.
There is just no end to the RAT45 regime’s corruption. And they’ve only been there little over a year and a half.

Y’all who think that these vermin are “stupid and incompetent” have your heads up your derrieres. These are Republicans, they always have very detailed “plans” in place (and contingency plans), ready to strike as soon, and as fast as they can. They know exactly what they want when it comes to exercising raw power, and they ‘just do it’. It doesn’t always work out according to their plans, but they just roll with it and move on.
Contrast those overall actions with the usual nebulous and diffuse Democratic approach and you find why we are in such a f’ing mess.

  30. As for Chris Collins, right from the start of the campaign and through the transition, if you wanted something from Trump you first went to Chris Collins. Could never figure that out. Well, he knew that the insider trading deal had to float to the surface sometime so he was setting himself and maybe even his co-conspirators up for a presidential pardon! This guy is a long thinker but of the wrong moral kind. Cannot shed tear one for him.

  31. I’m thinking of a Welsh citizenship. Or fleeing to Mexico as an asylum seeker.

    31
  32. Micr, RE: Welsh citizenship.
Best sit down with a glass of whisky. As a ‘country’ (sort of like a US state) within the UK, Wales immigration, an external affair, is handled by the UK from Westminster, not from Cardiff.

UK immigration law, like that of Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, etc., is complex.
But basically, you ain’t gettin’ in permanently without a direct, immediate kinship, a desired skillset (and youngish with a productive future), or a whole lotta MONEY readily available.

Immigration to Wales is a “Specific reservations cover particular areas of social and economic policy which are reserved to Westminster, …” matter, under “…Head B – Home Affairs…immigration and nationality…”.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reserved_and_excepted_matters#Wales_Act_2017
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modern_immigration_to_the_United_Kingdom

It is a wholly “points-based system”, which boils down to pure points of $$, or lots of ££££s.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Points-based_immigration_system_(United_Kingdom)

So, like I mentioned, ain’t hardly any of us gettin’ outta Trumpisstain anytime soon.

PS, Mexico also has very stringent immigration laws and procedures, although if you’ve ever regularly dealt with the Aduana mordida process there might be some wiggle room.
Even those other places like Panama and Costa Rica are tough, but you can live in them long term without too much trouble.
