I Was Just Wondering
I know that Texas has a state bird, a state song, a state flower, a state tree, and state poet, but do we have a state tool?
If not, I have a nomination.
(Okay, I know I’m being totally goofy this morning. I’ll try real hard to straighten up and fly right by noon or shortly thereafter.)
Dewhurst must have been bitten by a mosquito carrying the Hayseed Flu. He’s gone from fairly reasonable, successful business man to a bully who rants like a tea bagging lunatic. Just a warm up for the primary; wait til he, Perry, and Abbott all square off for the “I’m more crazy than you” clown show.
1Excellent, Ms. JJ. I love you ALL the time, whether a little goofy or a whole lotta mad. You go!
2Oh, dear! I am going to have to plead for mamma’s understanding and forgiveness right now cuz where I come from “tool” means something other than can opener.
3“The plain truth is that Dewhurst’s only qualifications for lieutenant governor are his good looks, good hair, straight teeth, a close association with the extreme right wing of the Republican party — oh — and a personal fortune estimated at $200 million or so.”
This was found in a article from the Austin Chronicle, Oct 18,2002! For some reason I can’t link to the address without rewriting the above.
4JJ, I was reading this, and I was wondering.
Because I do it all the time.
You know how on a keyboard that “t” key……. is kinda right above and a little bit to the right of that “f” key?
I’m just wondering if ….maybe you meant to nominate Dewhurst for “State Fool”…. because I could definitely get behind that.
Just curious.
5Miemaw, I like your idea… State Fool… because “tool” implies it is something useful.. and I have NO USE for Dewhurst.
6In this instance, tool is being used as a synonym for fool. At least to my understanding a tool is a fool who lets himself be used to do things most people don’t want to do. For instance, committing a felony by changing the clock in order to claim that the
7nefarious bill had passed before midnight.
Dewhurst, the fool, is a tool being used by the Republican conservatives to further their agenda at all costs.
I just saw that Sen. Dan Patrick is going to run against Dewhurst. I am not sure that Dewhurst could beat Patrick in a primary
8Patrick, Dewhurst, Abbott, and Perry…..
Now that is a quartet in need of a barbershop if ever I have seen one. Dang, I’m not sure which one should be the state fool / tool. One thing I am certain of is that this is not being goofy, it is a legitimate question and I might add, a tough call.
9I may have to move. I can’t stomach Patrick at any price. IMO he needs to be killed almost as bad as Purty Perry does!
10Tool: a device for doing work: an object designed to do a specific kind of work such as cutting or chopping by directing manually applied force or by means of a motor.
Please explain what work Dewhurst accomplishes. Sounds as though he’s mostly eye candy for the reactionary right.
11Texas also has a state mystery. No, it isn’t “Why does the porridge bird lay its egg in the air?” — that one goes with Indiana, I think. The state mystery for Texas is “Why do the people of Texas continue to elect officials who hate the people of Texas?”
12Oh dear God, Dan Patrick wants to run against him, really ya’ll can someone remove the wheels on the crazy town clown car please, I cannot take this insane bunch of fools anymore.
And can someone who is capable of summoning spirits, please get to summoning Anne Richards back so she can whip these guys in shape.
I need to make an appt with my doctor for nerve pills
13The Dems asked Dewhurst to allow a vote on a resolution honoring Leticia van de Putte’s father, who died a week ago, and on the other two bills in the called session, before beginning debate on SB5. The Dems agree to make sure all of this happened before the time for debate on SB5 started. Dewhurst agreed to start early, and immediately took up SB5 inspite of the agreement.
14How about state fool for Lt Gov Dewlap? If kings could have them why not Texas?
15Post what you think on Lt. Gov. Stinky Doo Doohurst’s facebook page while it’s still up.

16May I just say that Leticia van de Putte should be giving lessons on public service. Even at a very difficult time in her personal life, she made sure to show up & represent her constituents. That’s called selflessness.
We need more Leticias and Wendys in office.
17Karen. Making an agreement and then turning around and violating said agreement, is a time honored tradition among Republicans. Think Sen. Mitch McConnell making the agreement with Sen. Harry Reid over filibustering bills. That lasted all of about 2 hours. Most of us just call this lying, they call it doing what the “people” want. “People” = whoever gives them the most campaign dollars.
18If you straighten up and fly right, I’m gonna start getting my hair done somewhere else.
19‘Do we have a state tool?’
No. Because only one would be too limiting. And put too many Republicans out of work, on the dole.
20Obviously, we have a real race for the title of State Idiot.
21Does anyone else think the picture of Dewhurst looks like Barney Fife when he’s just been given the one bullet he was allowed? What a dorky picture.
22Sheesh.
Judging from what I can see from the Way Far North 40, Texas has so many tools that what ya need is a State Tool Shed.
23What does he gain? Does his sister work for a lobbying group for doctor-owned hospitals and clinics, like Governor PRicky’s sister? Just trying to follow the money. It always goes someplace interesting.
24How about … instead of a state tool we share a state stool, as in excrement. I nominate rand, paulbot#2, prick pervey, a governor and missy mcconnell, a senator and his successor – creepy cruz, another senator.
25As usual Attila has turned the best pfrase of the thread.
26@Jan – You nailed it. Only Don Knotts was a lot funnier and acted half as stoopid.
27Kudos to Attila. That state toolshed may need an addition.
