Welcome to The World's Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc.
My name is Susan DuQuesnay Bankston. I live in Richmond, Texas, in the heart of Tom DeLay's old district. It's nuttier than squirrel poop here.
I am honored and privileged to know Miss Juanita Jean Herownself, hairdresser extraordinary and political maven. Since she does not have time to fiddle with this internet stuff, I type her website for her and you can read it if you want to. If you don't, she truly does not give a big bear's butt.
A lot of what I post here has to do with local politics, but you probably have the same folks in your local government.
This ain't a blog. Blogs are way too trendy for me. This is a professional political organization.
Willie’s from down around here, and everyone has a Willie story. My favorite…the drivers ed teacher who said they were gonna run by Abbott to check on a friend.
The friend was Willie and the teacher and kids spent several hours at his place playing cards, drinking lemonade, and yes, singing along with the redhead. All the kids thought Willie was the coolest guy they’d ever seen.
1It’s also my mother’s 84th birthday.
2Will never forget seeing Willie in person at a Virginia state governor’s inauguration ball many years ago. It was worth every penny!
3Absolutely. One of the greatest people from Texas, ever!
4Happy Birthday Willie. You may be 82, but you don’t look to be more than 70. Mick and Keith are both only 71, and you look way younger and better than either of them.
5My favorite 82 year-olds: Willie and Ruth Bader Gindsburg!
6I’ve been on the bus..what happens on the bus, stays on the bus.
7The first time I heard Willie Nelson sing I wondered who the … he was, and how could someone who sang so badly could be so popular. Then we got the Red-headed Stranger album and I fell in love. Been there ever since.
8Happy Birthday, Willie!
JanK, another great album, that you will likely enjoy is Phases and Stages. It is one I have, over the years, acquired as an LP, cassette, and CD; it’s that good.
9Dang, Eighty Two effen years!
10May he have many more (maybe there is something ‘medical’ about that stuff…).
Just like with Willies’ musicianship, true skill and quality shine brightly forth.
Willie is one of my heroes. Happy Birthday Willie!
11JanK.
12I have seen Willy so many times.
I was an extra in the damn films
I actually got to see Slim Pikins. A Huge Hero of mine
What you need to know is, he really means it.
