I Have a Question

September 03, 2015 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

With all the Republican presidential candidates lining up behind Kim Davis, how the fool tarnation can we trust that these guys will follow the law if elected?

Honey, when Lindsey Graham is the voice of reason, your party to totally screwed up.

  1. Marcia in CO says:

The Trump is on MSNBC right now … spewing his “I am the light and the way” rhetoric. No one has a clue except The Donald. The man truly believes he will be president! He had to state he doesn’t know about Kim Davis.

He signed his worthless Pledge to the Rightwing Pribus and that piece of paper is as worthless as toilet paper. LOL

  2. W. C. (Pete) Peterson says:

The judge was appointed by George Waste Bush hisownself. Even without trying, sometimes you do something good.

  3. If I was a woman, and I’m not, I would have only to look at the string of promises T-rump made to other women and broke to know exactly who T-rump is. (Pardon my participle as it dangles. Too lazy to fix. it.

    3
  4. I am a Muslim. And I work for the DMV. And I have a sincerely held religious belief that women should not be allowed to drive cars. So I will no longer be issuing drivers licenses to women. My sincerely held religious belief. C’mon now, where are the Christians who support “sincerely held religious beliefs.”

    4
  5. Mark J – Quakers. Gun permits.

    5
  6. Huckabee is soft on crime but only if the laws are broken
by a right winger. On national tv this morning he was asked about his double standard on breaking the law. Huckabee’s argle bargle on behalf of jail birdette Davis was classic right wing blather.

  7. Larry from Colorado says:

Kim Davis is now in custody. Shall we follow wit;h all the Republicthugs?

    7
  8. I actually assume that most Republicans are not currently following the law, they just haven’t been found out/exposed yet.

As for Kim Davis, I would have preferred she just be removed from office and given a hefty fine. I know the judge didn’t want to fine her because her “followers” would have paid it but it doesn’t matter – stupid bigots should lose their money.

    8
  9. So glad she got jail, so the national bigots association (i.e.rethuglicans) couldn’t hold a fund drive for her.
She won’t resign ’cause the 80K she makes is more important to her than her “values”. Apparently, because she is an elected official, she cannot be fired. Does Bubba have suggestions as to how to get rid of her? Special election?

    9
  10. Wyatt Earl –
Yes, I would like to see a Quaker refuse to issue gun permits for anything other than the weapons Jesus himself used or approved of in the Bible. Huckabee? Cruz? Anyone other than the crickets have something to say?

    10
  11. Mark J – exactly. Why have none of these so-called journalists asked Huckabee, et al. if they would support Kim Davis if her “sincerely held religious beliefs” were based on her faith in islam? They are the same beliefs re same-sex marriage. If I wanted to establish shariah law, the first thing I would do is try to get a court, legislature, etc to agree that whether Americans can exercise their recognized legal rights is determined by the “beliefs” of a clerk, which the clerk need not prove, and then switch the clerks. Morons.

    11
  12. Justice Scalia said in 2002 of the death penalty (lonq quote from “First Things” in 2002:

“[I]n my view the choice for the judge who believes the death penalty to be immoral is resignation, rather than simply ignoring duly enacted, constitutional laws and sabotaging death penalty cases. He has, after all, taken an oath to apply the laws and has been given no power to supplant them with rules of his own. Of course if he feels strongly enough he can go beyond mere resignation and lead a political campaign to abolish the death penalty” and if that fails, lead a revolution. But rewrite the laws he cannot do.”

And neither can a County Clerk in Kentucky. Or Texas. Their choices are simple really: Issue or resign.

    12
  13. Ted Cruz loves him some publicity and is quick to denounce a mythical “war on faith” all the while happily participating in open warfare on truth and reason. What a hypocritical a$$! May he quickly subside into the obscurity that he so richly deserves. And that goes for the rest of the GOP clowns, too.

Charlie Daniels went ballistic on Facebook, accusing Obama of shifting the Scotus clear to the left and he blasted wingnuts for allowing it. CD is another seriously disturbed, uneducated, homophobic, religious wingnut with s### for brains.

    14
  15. Perhaps Republican presidential candidates should listen to another Republican who succeeded in getting elected to the office, Richard Nixon, when he found it impossible to fulfill the duties of the office:

“I have never been a quitter. But as President, I must put the interest of America first. America needs a full-time President and a full-time Congress.”

    15
  16. Prup (aka Jim Benton) says:

Guys, here’s a ‘rotten tomato’ to throw at the first person who calls Judge Bunning a “left-wing judge.’ He wasn’t just appointed by Bush, his father was ex-Sen (and Hall of Fame Pitcher) Jim Bunning, who was one of the most conservative Senators of his time until he was finally forced to resign because of what wasn’t called ‘senility.’

(And no, the fact that I was on the bus traveling to Shea, without what was then called a ‘transistor radio’ while he was pitching a perfect game had nothing to do with my dislike of him — and arrived just in time to see the last out — there was a double-header that day, and I figured missing the first game couldn’t hurt. Totally ot, but I like telling the story.)

  17. @Rick

When someone mentions Tricky Dick I immediately think of Good Morning Viet Nam and this exchange…

Lt. Steven Hauk: Respectfully, sir, the former VP is a good man and a decent man.

General Taylor: Bull$hit! I know Nixon personally. He lugs a trainload of $hit behind him that could fertilize the Sinai. Why, I wouldn’t buy an apple from the son of a bi*ch and I consider him a good, close, personal friend.

    17
  18. JAKvirginia says:

NEWS FLASH: People who break US laws and ignore court orders will no longer be called criminals. They will now be called martyrs. Eat dirt Joan of Arc!

    18
  19. It looks like Kim just got her horse shot out from under her. Five of her deputies have agreed to start issuing marriage licenses rather than have Judge Bunning throw them in jail for contempt too. Her son is also a deputy and refused to comply, but the judge said that will not matter so long as the other deputies are complying.

    19
  20. OK, I have a beef with the media about this. The focused so heavily on what Davis wasn’t doing about same sex licenses that I just now found out that she and her cohorts weren’t issuing any licenses to anybody at all! No fair! Hey, not everybody in that part of Kentucky can afford airfare to Vegas and the Elvis Wedding Chapel of Hunk of Burning Love. Damn, I do hope this costs her the job. There are so many other way more competent and sane people in that part of the state who really need an $80K a year job and wouldn’t mind issuing licenses to all and sundry.

    20
  21. Linda Phipps says:

Maryelle, we’re stuck with Davis, I guess, but her son, who is just as stupid wasn’t elected I think. I wonder what that county has in its books about felons serving as county officials? Just askin’.

    21
  22. Marge Wood says:

    Martyrdom,
    Oh martyrdom!
    May we all fall down
    And worship
    Martyrdom….

You should read church history, the things folks would rather die for than comply. Anabaptists, forerunners of Mennonites and Quakers, were tormented to death because they didn’t believe in infant baptism. I don’t either but I think that’s going a bit far.

  23. mary aleba says:

Sadly, after digging, discovered she is an elected Democrat! How did that happen? Is she one of the left over Dixiecrats? Her mother held the job for nearly 40 yrs and her son is a deputy. Family business.
