  1. Lorraine in Spring says:

I voted for Wendy on my pc, of course.

Then I voted for you via my phone. 😉

  2. Was glad to see Wendy Davis was way ahead when I voted.

  3. Don’t anyone get their shorts in a twist if there are enough East Texans who can read, who manage to put in the majority of votes for Ted Cruz. Texan of the Year doesn’t necessarily mean GOOD Texan of the Year. After all, TIME magazine in 1938 named Adolf Hitler their Man of the Year.

    3
  4. Wendy is way ahead so far.

    4
  5. @Cheryl – …Proving beyond a doubt that there are many more illiterates among Republicans and TP members who are unable to read newspapers.

  7. So I have to prove I am a Texan to vote for Wendy?

    7
  8. I don’t think Cruz is qualified as Texan of the Year because his insane one-man jihad has not yet lasted for a whole year. He may burn out very quickly.

Davis, on the other hand, has the potential to be a force in Texas politics for many, many years. That may not happen, but it’s more likely than Cruz being more than a flash in the pan.

    8
  9. Can’t seem to make it register, but I see Wendy is ahead.

Cruz could be nutcase Texan of the year, though he’d have a lot of competition for that, too.

    9
  10. The vote is anonymous (apparently), so they didn’t ask where you live. Since I was born in TX, well . . .

    10
  11. My thought was that if Cruz is selected, the DMN with a little “a” added would be more appropriate!
    DaMN Texan.
That’s what many in foreign states say anyway.

    11
  12. I nearly voted for Shudde Fath–she’s 97 and one of the lifelong ranters about envir. stuff in Austin–but I finally decided to be good and vote for Wendy because goodness knows she is going to need all our help.

  13. JAKvirginia says:

What a choice! Between Beauty and the Least! Hmmmm….

    13
  14. Marion (formerly known as MM) says:

JAKvirginia – I like that Beauty and the Least.

    I voted for Wendy.

    14
  15. Marion (formerly known as MM) says:

    What? No bathrobe pic?

    15
  16. dave in austin says:

Nancy Jane, I’m pretty sure Louie Gohmert has retired the trophy for Nutcase Texan of the Year.

    16
  17. Aggieland liz says:

I assure you, Wendy would look far better in any bathrobe you could provide than that a$$ Carnival Cruz! She wins that contest hands down!

    17
  18. Beauty and the Least – JAKvirginia I am giving that my highest honor: I am stealing it!

    18
  19. Ralph Wiggam says:

Windy vs. Wendy. I’ll take Wendy

    19
  20. When I tried to vote for Wendy, her name was partially blocked and the submit tab was entirely blocked.

    20
  21. mike from iowa says:

Ms Davis is well educated, civil, polite and would look much better in a paisley bath robe than Cruz,I’ll wager. Cruz reminds of an ecstatic mutt that thinks his visit to the Vet is to get tutored. The first cut is the deepest, you stoopid mutt!

    21
  22. Sounds like they’re looking for someone who made a big “impact” on Texas. Well, especially during a drought, when the ground is hard, what comes out of the back end of a bull can make a big impact on Texas.

    22
  23. OK. Vote. DON’T read the comments; they are stomach-turning vitriolic expressions of hate.
I forget sometimes what an uphill fight you are in, Ms. JJ.

    23
  24. I voted for Wendy and tweeted the poll a couple of times for my Texas followers and other Wendy fans. Go Wendy!

    24
  25. I voted for Wendy and I don’t live in Texas. Just click and “enter” and got a real nice Texas “thank you”. Now I think I will try to vote from both my phone and my Ipad. This is a poll, not an election, so even Libruls can vote twice!!!

    25
  26. Wendy may have been ahead on the 12th (per comments above), but Cruz is way ahead today (Friday the 13th). Found it interesting to note that the pie chart graphic at the end of the voting page on the DMN website has Cruz in blue and Wendy in red. Hmmmm.

    26
  27. JuJuBee, I think the largest pie gets the blue, as Wendy was blue last week. You are right, though, that Cruz has passed Wendy for percentage. Something tells me the Rs are stuffing the ballot box.
