I Am Abnormally Happy About This
I just heard that Mexico has a retaliation plan if Donald Trump is elected and tries to force them to pay for a wall.
Mexican Senator Armando Rios Peter proposed that if Trump is elected, Mexico should repeal the 1848 Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. That treaty ceded Texas, California and varied places in between to the United States.
“The goal is to foresee and prevent any negative effects on Mexico if Trump becomes president of the United States,” he said.
Yeah, and negative effects to me, too, Senator Peter.
Plus, taco trucks on every corner!
Thanks to Brian for the heads up.
Thanks, Donnie! In the nightmarish event you should grip the executive pen, many of our NV problems with the snacilbupeR state legislature would be solved. Our family would become Mexican citizens without the necessity of moving. We like this idea. What can you do for Manhattan? Surely the original custodians of the land would clean up your mess.
1Hey, the secessionists in Texas would get their wish! Oh wait … become Mexicans …
2Heard about that and it sounds like a great idea. He’s still strutting around claiming that Mexico will pay for his wall.
3Let it be that the second Tuesday every forth November will forever be referred to as Taco Tuesday.
4Hey Donnie! Your wall just got a whole lot longer! And Mexico STILL won’t pay for it.
Meanwhile, I’m packing up for the move to Texas or New Mexico [soon to be Old Mexico.] I want to beat the rush.
5If Trump becomes President this Californian will happily become a Mexican instead.
Then we’ll build a huuge wall.
6Lajitas and Paso Lajitas looking awfully good rinow.
7See, Donnie… other people can ignore treaties too, if they want! Karma. She can be a real bitch… but only if you are.
8Good one. Let’s see: Louisiana goes back to France. That’s the Louisiana purchase, guys, the whole central part of the US. Alaska goes back to Russia. The East coast to England. Florida to Spain.
9…and then we can free Cascadia !!! (N. CA, Oregon and WA from the Cascades to the Pacific, and up to about Whistler on the western part of B.C.)
10Tilphousia: Nix on Louisiana and Alaska. Bought and paid for I’m afraid.
11What a boon the treaty repeal would be for us! When it was enacted – after the Mexican-American War – the US Army was in control of Mexico City and all lands to the north. Repealing the treaty would unite Mexico and America, giving us 5 or 6 new territories which could become states. So long to the border “crisis.”
12When I was a girl I was told that the treaty was written differently than how the land came to be divided, because the
13Surveyors got drunk in Nogales and were supposed to draw the line across to the gulf of California, but instead angled it up to where the Colorado River drys up around Yuma. I was always sad–Az with an ocean port! It would have made it
survivable…
Maybe with a revisit, it can finally happen!
