Honor Among Thieves

May 09, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

It’s good to know that there is honor even among the GOP thieves in the Senate.

The committee rejected the amendment by a vote of 5 to 13, with three Republicans — Orrin Hatch (Utah), Lindsey Graham (S.C.) and Jeff Flake (Ariz.) — joining Democrats to vote against it.

There is a price to be paid for being a son of a motherless goat.  Even the other goats shun you.

Thanks to Alfredo over at the Dairy Queen, who is cooking with gas today, for the heads up.

Be social and share!

  1. I notice that not all of the goats shunned him. I’m guessing the five who joined his herd are all Republicans.

Is Hatch, Ms. Graham, and Flake trying to earn some Brownie points? I’m always suspicious when it comes to any of these GOP creeps!

Cruz aint the only one. I have read one of Grassley’s amendments. It has to do with what are basically social workers who keep an eye on the progress of applicants for the different cards as they move through the process for eventual citizenship. This is a good idea inasmuch as both paper and people tend to get lost in a system at any time for any reason. Grassley wants to do away with this part of the process. I am getting the idea that if they get lost Grassley is just fine with that. He seems to have a real personal thing going on with immigrants, especially the ones who do not look like him.

There is another amendment from a Southern Senator about being biometriced when you come in or leave the country. Biometrics means retinal scanning, DNA, voiceprinting and fingerprinting. There may be some other stuff in this but you get the idea. Right now there are already at least two laws in effect that require this kind of stuff from people who are legal and get off international airplanes and even boats. They are not necessarily coming into the country to live and work but just for a visit of some sort. Really, none of this will identify ahead of time someone who turns out to be a terrorist. It just builds an enormous database which can identify someone after the fact, as in maybe identify a body.

The vast majority of my family lives in Canada. Lately the only ones who come to this country are those who actually work for the Canadian government at the various consulates in different cities. I would bet they have diplomatic clearance and don’t have to put up with having their eyeballs scanned.

I’m really thinkin’ hard about this stuff.

Let the shunning begin! Surprising that only 3 Repugs saw the light.

Elsewhere in that article I found this sentence

“Democrats have cautioned the White House not to alienate Republican lawmakers by campaigning too hard in public for immigration reform.”

I’d like to know what Democrat believes that there is any possibility that Obama could alienate the Republicans any more than they are alienated already.

Jeff Flake voted against a Cruz amendment? ? ? That’s saying something. Flake has always been about as flakey as Cruz. Does this mean Cruz has outpaced Flake in the crazy department?

Our mohair goats used to shun the purebreds–would tiptoe out and leave them friendless early in the morning. Just saying. Does that have a metaphorical use or something? and bottle fed goats always ran around getting into trouble. The other goat kids did what the old nanny goats told them to do. I guess I better quit right now.

Juanita, I have a tendency, based upon all the reports of the dumbarse GOP politicians coming out of Texas that there are hardly any ood ones.

Would you sometime soon, discuss those who are worth their salt and represent Texas and our country in a good way? It probably won’t take much of your time, but I need some serious faith rebuilding on thihs issue. I rather doubt that any GOP ones would make the cut.

The bad ones are so damn bad and so damn stupid that it disgraces everyone. So, any light you can shed on decent Texas politicians would be greatly appreciated.

  9. About “Alfredo over at the Dairy Queen”, shouldn’t that be “over TO the Dairy Queen”? Or is that more of a mid-western thing?

  13. THIS MUST STOP.
I will not stand idly by while JJ and her responders insult goats.

    That is all. 😉

She only insulted motherless goats. Most goats in this world have far better reputations than Cruz.

Let’s take a hard look at the Cruz amendment. If current border apprehensions of illegals are 80% effective … (Refer to the link below)

    https://juanitajean.com/2013/05/09/what-is-this-crazy-texas-day/

… then why would Cruz want to “triple the size of the U.S. Border Patrol and quadruple federal funding for unmanned aerial drones and helicopters”??

The current annual budget of Customs and Border Protection – parent agency of the U.S. Border Patrol – is nearly $12 billion. The Border Patrol has more sworn, armed officers than any other U.S. law enforcement agency.

How would the marginal additional benefits of the Cruz amendment pay back the billions of dollars extra that he wants to spend? Cruz’s own Tea Party supporters should kick his ass up around his ears for suggesting such wasteful spending.

    15
  16. I can’t help but wonder what Cruz did to these Republicans to piss them off at him. Did he fail to support something they wanted? Did he simply say something insulting? The possibilities are endless because he doesn’t want to ever compromise and he is arrogant enough to say bad things about everyone else when they are not falling into his Red Rover line.

  17. maryelle says:

The Cruz amendment was DESIGNED to defeat the immigration bill by making it too expensive. Repugs want to be seen doing something about immigration, but do not want all those new democrats sworn in, so they don’t actually want it to succeed.

    17
  18. Bosco Brown says:

    Isn’t Cruz a immigrant himself?

    18
  19. Umptydump says:

Yeah, maryelle, I figured as much. But the method Cruz chose to oppose it is just one more example of what an unprincipled scoundrel he is.
