Holy Cow! Where Was Ted Cruz?

December 10, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

As you know, Ted Cruz was the only United States Senator to attend Nelson Mandela’s funeral.  I don’t know this to be true for a fact, but suspicions are high that the only reason he went was to get his picture taken with a black person.   He’s tried in the United States but even Herman Cain ran the other way.

But, there’s a bigger story.

For the life of me, I cannot figure out why Ted Cruz didn’t throw a body block to keep this from happening.

Yes, that is President Obama shaking hands with Raul Castro.  I mean, here’s democracy, freedom, and outdated foreign policy going right down the tubes and Cruz did not a damn thing to stop it.  Hell, if he wasn’t will to die for outdated foreign policy, then he doesn’t know the meaning of the word conservative.

His posse is going to be so disappointed.  Not only does he go to a funeral for a black man, he lets a commie leave alive.

Thanks to Frank for the heads up.

That looks like an impeachable offense to me! How can he possibly justify being civil at a funeral.

  3. I’m sure we will hear from Daddy Cruz about that!

Weren’t Daddy Cruz and the Castro bunch pretty close at one time?

  5. For myself, I’m just glad NOT to see Cruz in the picture. I figured he’d have elbowed his way to the front to stand in plain view behind this historic handshake.

I watched most of the funeral service in the wee hours of the morning on CSpan…. I am fairly certain none of the rwnj’s did. Obama’s speech was pretty amazing. Another proud moment for me that we have him as our President. I kept hoping as leaders from such diverse countries as Brazil, India, China, and yes, Cuba, did their eulogies to Mandela that Ted Cruz was listening and watching. It was a very enlightening service… the impact Mandela had far and wide, to every corner of the globe, the lessons he taught the world about non-violence, forgiveness, and here it comes… the C-word… COMPROMISE… invaluable.

The pictures of the Castro handshake, to me, are simply indicative of the fact that Obama is probably a foot taller than Castro, it was extremely noisy there, so most conversations with anyone were done in close ear range. Obama wasn’t bowing to Castro, he was probably just exchanging pleasantries within earshot and having the class to recognize an opportunity to emulate Nelson Mandela’s spirit at his public service, that was broadcast worldwide. Only an ugly toad would have snubbed another speaker on the world’s stage at a Mandela Memorial…. and of course the vast majority of those yahoos all upset over the Castro handshake probably don’t know that the #2 leader of China spoke at the service, too, and Obama probably had to lean forward to shake his hand to exchange greetings, too. Gee.. President Obama bowed to two commies this morning!

And btw… the Obama eulogy was first, the Castro eulogy was the last of the “guest leaders” who spoke, Castro gave an extremely eloquent address, full of praise for Mandela’s strength of character to help the oppressed, and like every other leader who spoke, emphasized the long-term nature of their relationship. If you get a chance, watch the speeches of the world leaders online. Very interesting.

I am sick to death of the rwnj-hate-machine.

  7. I’m sick of it too. I’m sick of otherwise intelligent folks all over the place being rude and deliberately misunderstanding stuff. I have to say here, how about we try seeing everyone, everyone, with the eyes of kindness. It doesn’t mean being stupid or losing our brains. It means keeping the facts straight. The whole thing reminds me of a kid who is obsessed with getting something he is determined he oughta get for Christmas and mis-hearing what is being said and one (self) having to keep saying, KINDLY, “That is not what I said. What I said was……..” and keeping the facts out there. Also reminds me of the fact that the K. bros. are determined to get rid of renewable energy tax credits, regardless of the fact that fossil fuels have gotten 4 times more in the way of tax benefits for the last 95 yrs. These guys want it ALL. They don’t care what happens to the earth. Closing with plea to ask your congresscritters to please support PTCs for wind energy. Please. 202 225 3121 number for Congress.

  8. Oh it’s way worse than a handshake. Obama was bowing to Castro, because Obama is subverting ‘Merica to the Dictators of the World in accordance with the wishes of his dead father’s ghost.

    8
  9. Well, at least Obama didn’t kiss him on the mouth and walk off holding hands like Bush did with the Saudi king.

  12. donquijoterocket says:

@ grung_e_gene- I noticed that too and the RWNJs will probably calculate the number of degrees deviation from the vertical and conclude it was too much and a sure sign of subservience and homage to the communist ideal or agenda( whatever those are). He is a socialist you know? We ought to start a poll on where that meme will originate, whether it will be Faux Noise or Lard Limpball. Michael might have it right and we’ll never hear a word out of them from sheer ignorance although just the Castro name ought to set them off..

  13. No matter what our President does, he is viciously attacked by the baggers. The good news is Ted Cruz was nowhere to be found.
I’m still hoping he ended up in N.Korea.

Didn’t Dubya kiss a Saudi prince?

Holy Gohmerts, Ted was nowhere to be seen in South Africa and nobody cared. Did anyone check the wheel wells of Air Force One for a load of frozen gohmerts?

It is my mission, and yes I’ve chosen to accept it. Each day I will try to post a gohmert as verb, noun, pronoun, adverb, adjective, preposition, conjunction, and interjection, thereby saving my mouth the indignity a soap wash.

  18. daChipster says:

Somebody check me on this one: didn’t St Ronald of Rayguns consider Mandela a terrorist, whilst arming and training Osama bin Laden and the Taliban and (illegally) the Nicaraguan contras as “Freedom Fighters?”

Instead of naming aircraft carriers and airports we should be naming garbage scows and mental diseases for this doofus.

    18
  19. You are correct about Reagan, daChipster, and the link provided by Ralph Wiggam has the best lineup of Repugs making nice with enemies. My especial favorite is Donald Rumsfeld shaking hands with, and smiling at
Saddam, weapons-of-mass-destruction) Hussein. Those idiots on Fox need to gain some perspective, in addition to intelligence, honesty and most of all honor.

    19
  20. Polite Kool Marxist says:

daChipster, while the old codger was napping, he had a whole load of gohmert dreams that became his foreign policy, and his economic policy aka Trickle Down.

If the aircraft carriers are moth balled, and the airports closed, it would be appropriate to name them after Rayguns.

    20
  21. Grumps McCain is already whining that Obama shaking hands with Castro was akin to Chamberlain shaking Hitler’s hand. (heavy sigh… it’s hard for the older ones to go a day without comparing Obama to Hitler or making an offensive rape analogy).

Of course, when McCain was photographed huggin’ it up with the Syrian rebels who were later seen slaughtering folks for peace, we didn’t hear a whole lot about it.

If it were up to most of the old white men in the GOP, Nelson Mandela would have never been released from prison. For that matter, they’d have kept Martin Luther King in the Birmingham jail if given the opportunity to vote on his release…

We owe it to ourselves to pay less attention to the knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing troglodytes who clog up the shallow end of the gene pool.

What if he was leaning over to tell Castro he could hook him up with a boatload of iPads? Let the Cubans get hold of those babies to see what they’ve been missing, and they’ll overthrow the Castros by next week.

    22
  23. Ted probably wanted to avoid meeting Raul because 1) Raul knows Ted’s dad … which could be kind of embarrassing… and 2) Raul speaks Spanish.

daChipster-it wasn’t rilly illegal to arm the Contras because Ollie North and Fawn Hall both said there was a higher law than Congress that told them what to do and then told them to lie about it. I’m guessing that higher law was greed.

Probably John Alcala. Ollie North is too stupid to know the truth, if it bit him in the gohmerts. CIA Bush the 41st is probably too Raygunzed to remember.

For fun and sport Texas style, search CIA directors. The spooks must have had a conniption, when Leon Panetta was director. Makes a person wonder what the not so grand bargain was to seat John O. Brennan in the imploded seat left by Petraeus.

Oh Ted, anything Pappy Cruz can tell us?

  32. PoliticusUSA has this article yesterday which includes a short video clip of the infamous “handshake” that the wingnuts are ranting about. Yes, it does appear that Raul Castro is considerably shorter than Obama, as are all the other world leaders shown. Obama’s a tall drink o’ water. He has to bend to shake people’s hands. Also, there wasn’t much discussion with Castro, as you can see in the clip. There was no time. Just a handshake and a few pleasant-seeming words, which is what Obama exchanged with all the other leaders on the stage, regardless of their records and worldviews. By the way, the woman next to Castro is President Dilma Rousseff of Brazil. She is widely considered to be a “socialist”. Obama kissed her on both cheeks. Are they ranting about that too?

  34. I think Cruz was brilliant: on a world stage, as a U S Senator, he gets to snub Obama, protest against Cuba, and move to co-opt Mandela’s legacy for his drive for power. He will the Republican nominee in 2016, unless something dramatic changes, and he will be a formidable opponent against a tepid Democrat such as HRC. I hope I’m wrong.
