He Used To Break My Beautiful Vases, Now He Breaks Grown Men UPDATED and MORE UPDATED

August 04, 2022 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Thank you guys for all your kind words about my son.  If you have any memes or stuff I just must read or things you want to say to Mark, you can do it here.

Yes, I am proud of Mark but I am equally proud of his big brother, Bryan the librarian, who not only found the clip of Jones calling Neil “slow” on his broadcast while Neil was testifying but also got it to Mark within minutes, clipped and ready to go. Bryan goes to work every day to push back frontiers of ignorance and he loves it.

We will all wait semi-patiently for the jury verdict, but the team at Farrar & Ball are taking comfort in the realization that they followed this case for almost four years and did their best.  Sometimes hard work pays off in getting lucky.

Hey, I am also proud of my daughter-in-law for ordering this mug for her husband. I was there when he came up with that line.

UPDATE: Mr. Jones’s attorney filed a motion for a mistrial this morning due to the fact that he screwed up. That wasn’t a real starter with the judge. I just asked Mr. Bankston for a clarification before I told you this: I did, in fact, hear that there are text messages between Mr. Jones and Roger Stone in the data dump and that he has heard from the J6 committee.

MORE UPDATE: The jury came back with $4.1 million in compensatory damages. Tomorrow they will decide punitive damages – ie., the damages to punish Jones.

A friend sent me a picture of Mark on tv after the verdict.  He’s pleased.

Be social and share!

Oh, my Lord, get thee hence to the Chris Hayes page on MSNBC’s website and the first entry features YOUR SON literally destroying alex jones!

  2. AlanInAustin ... says:

Maybe you need to get him a keychain with two tiny balls on it, one labeled “Alex” and the other “Jones”.

    2
  3. I haven’t even figured out who I want to sue yet, but I *have* to hire Mark to do the suing!

Because I want my Perry Mason Moment!

Tell Mark congrats! Best weasel hunter ever…

    3
  4. I think we’re all following Mark’s successes with great joy…and glee. Did I mention glee?

    4
  5. BarbinDC says:

Glad you posted today. Little Bubba is blowing up all over Twitter and Facebook. He’s the most famous lawyer in America at the moment. There’s gonna be no living with him after this!

The most fun part of all of this is that the DOJ is interested in those phone records, too, since Jones was in attendance at the Ellipse on 1/6. He is sooooo screwed. Not that that’s a bad thing.

    5
  6. Malarkey says:

Bubba Junior made Heather Cox Richardson’s newsletter this morning and he made George Takei’s newsletter yesterday!

I’ve been grinning from ear to ear!

Congratulations, Mark, JJ and everyone at the Salon!

    BIG WIN!!!

    6
  7. Mark was on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah last night too.

Congratulations in raising two (obviously) very fine sons!!

    7
  8. Kenneth Fair says:

As a lawyer myself, I only hope to one day have a moment like Mark did in court with Jones over his texts. Wow! He’s doing a fantastic job!

    8
  9. Story and video hits international news: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/aug/03/alex-jones-sandy-hook-shooting-defamation-trial

The Bankston family is full of people to be proud of.
Fingers crossed for a good jury decision.

    9
  10. You should be very proud of your son.

    Tell him thanks for me!

    10
  11. I was so excited to read Heather Cox Richardson’s letter before I went to bed last night, I had to message JJ immediately. I hope she turns off notifications when she goes to bed. So proud of Little Bubba. Wasn’t it just yesterday he was a college kid with his eyes on law school? And of course Bryan, who taught me all about using this new thing Votebuilder, a very important skill! They make an incredible team. You must be on cloud nine, JJ, and Bubba is bursting with pride on the ‘other side’.

    11
  12. Mary O'Grady says:

The live stream of the proceedings has brought me great joy, mainly thanks to Mark Bankston.

    12
  13. Between the evisceration of Jones and the vote in Kansas this week has almost made me stop worrying that the Nats trading Juan Soto will bring down another “Curse of the Bambino” on our heads and we will be in baseball purgatory for the next 100 years.

    13
  14. Thank you Susan and the late Bubba Sr. for being such wonderful examples for your children to follow.

    14
  15. Steve from Beaverton says:

Congratulations to the Bankston family. Mark is becoming a symbol of good lawyering. We watch the CBS morning news and yesterday’s Jones lawsuit proceeding was their lead story this morning. They also reported that there’s a law in Texas that evidence submitted by the lawyers cannot be taken back after 10 days so there’s no legal grounds to get the phone data back. Besides, the damage was done. Since under oath Jones had said there were no texts on his phone about the case, he basically admitted to lying yesterday. I’m no lawyer either, but pretty sure stupid is no defense in a civil case such as this.

    15
  16. UmptyDump says:

When Mark rebutted Reynal’s request this morning for a mistrial, he made it abundantly clear that Reynal had 10 days under an available legal procedure to demand that the extra texts be deleted by the plaintiff’s attorney. In essence, Mark gave a tutorial to Reynal about proper legal procedure for handling this error. Ranell is so awful as a lawyer that Jones may claim grounds – if he loses this case – to ask for a new trial on the basis of his lawyer’s incompetence.

    16
  17. It has be a privilege to watch your boy(s) in action. Well done. You raised some good humans and then they went out and all on their own became even better humans.

    17
  18. I’ve been impressed with how quickly Alex Jones’ comments have been brought to the trial. Calling the jury “extremely blue collar folks” who “don’t know what planet they’re on” and introducing that for the jury to hear, well I can only imagine what impact that will have.

    Great behind the scenes work.

    18
  19. Steve from Beaverton says:

I googled whether a defendant in a civil case can appeal based on ineffective counsel (incompetent). Using ineffective counsel to appeal can only be used in criminal cases. So again, stupid is no defense including the defense lawyer.

    19
  20. Rick @ 17.

Not to mention insulting the judge. Jones has no filter whatsoever.

    20
  21. I got hooked on Mark’s talent when you posted a link to the Discovery proceedings awhile back. For the last two weeks, I’ve been so transfixed on this trial and I am truely in awe of Mark and his team. I really think this is the end of that pissant. Mark pulled the lynchpin and now many of the dominoes will begin to fall.
Also, enormous kudos to Bryan for delving into the muck for that ‘hot of the press’ sewage spill. Little Bubba owes Big Brother’s some new clothes or at least a cold one!
Thank you for all you do and raising such wonderful guys.

    21
  22. UmptyDump says:

@#18 – Steve from Beaverton – Good! Thanks for that!

    22
  23. I stand corrected: your sons are national treasures.

    23
  24. Grandma Ada says:

Give those boys and DIL gold stars!!! I was watching the judge when Mark called Jones a liar and then show the evidence. The look on her face told me she has something special in mind for Reynal and I don’t think she’ll call a mistrial. Proving someone is a liar in court can’t be beat. And the lawyer obviously had those texts and emails and didn’t turn them in during discovery when he was supposed to. I hope this gets wrapped up soon, the poor Sandy Hook families receive justice, and you all can have an extended spa vacation!

    24
  25. Juanita, your wonderful son has been putting a smile on my face from afar, all week.
I would have given anything to be there when that horrible sinking feeling came all over Jones when he found out he’d hired competent lawyers—then fired them or they ran—- just to finally end with the most incompetent of all . . . . . .

    25
  26. Excuse me—–your wonderful sons!

    26
  27. Juanita Jean,

You and Mr JJ raised 2 damn fine sons. They fight (and win) the good fight whenever and where ever it happens to be. Tell both of them how much we appreciate all they do and how proud we are of them.

    27
  28. Your son has provided me with so many smiles. For me, those smiles are a bit hard to come by in Texas.

Also, i derive great pleasure from forwarding stories, clips, etc of his court activities to certain of my conservative acquaintances….

Please pass my sincere thanks to your son and tell him to bury that sorry excuse for human excrement.

    28
  29. daChipster says:

Team Bankston, making a little history. Prouda You!

“I am under request from various federal agencies and law enforcement to provide that phone, absent a ruling from you saying, ‘You cannot do that Mr. Bankston,’ I intend to do so,” Bankston told Travis County District Judge Maya Guerra Gamble.

If that don’t schaden your freude, I don’t know what will.

    29
  30. RepubAnon says:

As ineffective counsel only works for appeals in criminal cases, I expect Alex Jones is getting ready to sue his latest lawyer for malpractice. Should be amusing.

    30
  31. Steve from Beaverton says:

Good luck finding a lawyer, Alex. He probably needs to sue to pay his other legal bills.

    31
  32. K Malone says:

I’m bragging all over the place about you, Mark, Brian, and Don!
My Dad, Bud Malone posted this word on one of your posts many years ago, and I think it fits for the Alex Jones Trial. My schadenfreude is jumping for joy from Mark’s extraordinary work yesterday! Here’s the second word that fits for me when I see or hear Alex Jones: Backpfeifengesicht. I love you Dad!
We ❤️ you Juanita Jean and the whole lot of you!

    32
  33. Old Fart says:

    IANAL. Query:

If Jones has not given over all evidence that he was required to concerning finances, and such evidence comes to light, is that fraud? And again, are his lawyers accessories after the fact (if they assisted in hiding evidence that was required) in that fraud?

    33
  34. To the parents who raised Mr. Bankston, a bouquet of stars and stripes forever. And a few moons, planets, and suns for the sibling and sibling-in-law, too. You people are all just brilliant and I appreciate you! Thank you!

    34
  35. Patricia S Hanley says:

I cannot BELIEVE how this has turned out. I thought Juanita Jean was just carryin` on about her kid, but … Perry Mason moment, indeed . And now the J6 connection . I am just a long time reader, but so proud I could bust ! Congratulations to all.

    35
  36. At a level where either one is useful, luck and talent are indistinguishable.

Mark Bankston has both; no more could be asked.

But he has not beaten Jones or Jones’s lawyers, because they are not playing the same game.

    36
  37. Sam in Mellen says:

Reynal’s performance is not unlike that of Perry Shriner Attorney at Law from Cheech and Chong.

Mark has done a fantastic job.

    37
  38. Grandma Ada says:

Yea! Punitive damages aren’t taxable to the receivers so that’s extra good!

    38
  39. The verdict is in: $4.1 million compensatory damages.

    39
  40. It’s really good that Mr. Mark is a lot smarter than I am. If I had been in his place, my paranoia buttons would have been going crazy. If it’s too good to be true, it ain’t. It’s a trap. If I got a wide open shot at their Qb it’s because a pulling 300# guard is about to blindside launch me into the 2nd row of the bleachers. Sounds like he aced it.

    40
  41. slipstream says:

The Reynal Scale of Attorney Incompetence

1 Reynal: Occasionally loses his train of thought

2 Reynals: Chews gum in court

3 Reynals: Represents a client who will probably never pay
4 Reynals: Asks for eight dollars in total damages

5 Reynals: Forces a jury to listen to Alex Jones, both live and on video

6 Reynals: Quotes Martin Niemoller (implying that the plaintiffs are Nazis)

7 Reynals: Loses defamation case by default after refusing to provide documents and testimony

8 Reynals: Can’t keep his client from publicly mocking the judge

9 Reynals: Sends opposing attorney evidence to convict his client of perjury

    10 Reynals: Andino Reynal

    41
  42. It seems that all your readers share my feelings that we are all part of the takedown of that heinous thing. It is the shared love for you, JJ.
Bravo to your son. He is now everywhere. He needs to be hired by Mr. Garland to hurry up the DOJ. Mark has done a wonderful job. Thanks for letting us, your people, be so involved. And extra points for you and your husband for raising such wise sons. How beautiful that your boys worked together to get this bottom feeder, hopefully out of public life. We thank you all.

    42
  43. weakgrip says:

Mark may not yet have his own Wikipedia page, but he is mentioned in their “Perry Mason Moment”

    43
  44. Scotty in Indiana says:

Please pass along my congratulations and thanks to Mark and Bryan, and do take a victory lap yourself and raise a glass to Don’s memory.

This has been a good week for the good guys. We needed it badly and the Bankston family gets a majority of the credit.

    44
  45. john in denver says:

Given the headline, I am left wondering … were the pieces of the vases as pulverized as the reputations of Mr. Reynal and Mr. Jones?

Wish there were some way to force Jones to put the fines and damages into an escrow account while any appeals play out. The numbers show the jury’s and the judge’s sense of fairness — but until the money is actually out of Jones’ control, it isn’t much in the way of a consequence to him for the damage he has caused.

    45
  46. AliceBeth says:

Congratulations on raising smart sons who are on the correct side of things.
I think your daughter-in-law could order those mugs and sell them…surely there are other lawyers who would want one. Hell, I am retired RN and I want one.

    46
  47. Sorry to weigh in so late, but I was up all night watching the video snippets you all have been talking about here on all the news networks (except Fox).

Congratulations to you and your sons on a job very well done.

    Mr. B

    47
  48. van heldorf says:

John @45: If I recall correctly from years ago in TX, loser in a monetary valued judgement has to post a supersedes bond equal to the judgement value with the court if they want to appeal the judgement.
With no appeal, plaintiffs have to chase down any attachable assets excluding what would be sheltered under bankruptcy.
In jones’ case, there are likely enough hidden assets to make the search worthwhile.

    48
  49. CU inTenn says:

JJ, obviously your boys were Raised Right. And your baby boy, WOAH! As we say over here in the hills, he done good.

    49
  50. The texts were sent so they could ask for a mis-trial . Didn`t work .
