Welcome to The World's Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc.
My name is Susan DuQuesnay Bankston. I live in Richmond, Texas, in the heart of Tom DeLay's old district. It's nuttier than squirrel poop here.
I am honored and privileged to know Miss Juanita Jean Herownself, hairdresser extraordinary and political maven. Since she does not have time to fiddle with this internet stuff, I type her website for her and you can read it if you want to. If you don't, she truly does not give a big bear's butt.
A lot of what I post here has to do with local politics, but you probably have the same folks in your local government.
This ain't a blog. Blogs are way too trendy for me. This is a professional political organization.
Health benefits? You bet! Long before Medicare existed and certainly wayyyyyy before Obamacare, the unions provided the kind of health insurance that covered everything like all the expenses in heart surgery! Not only for the union member but also covered family members!
1A Labor Day Present for you all — and I wish there were more than six of these.

Happy Labor Day to all the 99%’s who make this country work and who are saving Texas. God bless you all.
3Happy Labor Day to everyone at TWMDBS! I wasn’t a union member, but I worked in the office for a large corporation that had unions in its plants, and because of that, we received benefits very similar to those of the union. When one of my sons went to work for a union business he didn’t fully understand just how good it would be. Now he does and is a proud union member.
4Yeppers “Happy Labor Day to everyone at TWMDBS!”
5I guess those are all reasons why the right wing is trying to destroy labor unions completely.
Happy Labor Day to everybody, especially those like me who have to work today. Not that I’m bitter. I also work Thanksgiving and Christmas.
6I am proud to say that I was among the first group of teachers in Pittsburgh to strike for the right to unionize. After establishing a union, we went on strike to demand better wages, healthcare, working conditions, class size limits, aides for students with special needs and a voice in the planning for school goals and grading procedures. Unions are not just responsible for improving employee conditions, but bettering efficiency and productivity. We all owe a lot to labor unions.
7I work in a union shop. I also don’t mind working holidays and weekends. The union makes sure I’m paid double for working those holidays. And I have decent, relatively affordable insurance and a retirement plan.
