Trump University settled the lawsuit (the only person who didn’t actually see that coming is Stevie Wonder) for $25,000,000.
There are 6,000 victims.
The lawyers take 40% off the top. That leaves $15,000,000 divided by 6,000 … carry the 2, subtract the discounted settlement, add some gall and you have — ta da! $2,500 a person.
Trump tried to put the case off until after the inauguration citing the “critical and all-consuming” work the president-elect has to do before he takes office in January.
Yeah, like look up the phone numbers of the biggest racists in the country and offer them a job.
Once again, Trump crews the little guy and gets away with it.
He has so much to do he’s taking a victory tour of the red states. Wish I were that busy.

I’m back y’all. (I tried to leave the Catholic Church once and couldn’t do that either.). I’ve spent 10 days in the gloom, but I can’t live there, so humor will have to be the antidote. It seems that most of the people who post here are kind and decent. It grieves me to say so, but I find more of that here than I do at the church most of the time, holding Papa Francis excluded. I find a great deal of it in my work life too, and that is a bit surprising, because most of my clients probably voted for Mr Trump. I would say the split is about 40-60 Ds to Rs.
Primo, I think people lied because they were ashamed to admit that they really DID like what Mr Trump said, and that’s why the data was bad.

As far as I know the rape case was dropped. The victim was too afraid to keep going because of the death threats she kept getting. I believe it was a civil case, not criminal, alas. I’d love to see the SOB behind bars.

However, if these Lawyers were working contingency (likely) they most probably billed the clients for Costs which can be substantial.

10According to the WSJ, the plaintiffs lawyers agreed to 1 million dollars for expenses and no attorney fees. NY gets 4 mil. lawyers get 1 mil that leaves 20 mil for the plaintiffs if judge agrees to settlement.
Of course Drumpf does not have to admit guilt as per usual. He is free to lie about his benevolence in handing out his own money to greedy nobodies. Except I doubt any of the money will be his, as per usual.

yes they do. their attorneys are supposed to advise them whether or not they should accept the offer, based on a good faith determination of “hazards of litigation”. in other words, what are the odds they do better/worse, taking the case to a jury? I would assume, if this is actually a done deal (and the judge has to sign off on it as well), that plaintiff’s attorneys figured this is probably the best they’re going to get.
there is some (legitimate) concern that a jury might not find the plaintiffs any more empathetic than the respondent; all of them were greedy, Trump just got their money first.
15You all are AWESOME! I have missed this community; one of my very dear friends says that that is the root of all this, we no longer have a sense of community. I am trying very hard to put myself aside and build bridges and NOT be a “poor loser” – they just don’t realize that we are ALL the losers here!

16Uh huh. He tried to get this put off cuz he’s SOOOOOOO busy. Of course, he won’t be busy after he’s inaugurated or anything. Well, he WOULD get busy making it illegal to bring a civil suit against a sitting [or past] president. Or at least any president named Trump.
One of his flunkies said, a day or two ago, that he plans to continue the rallies throughout his **ahem** presidency. Because the adulation of the crowds is cocaine to him. I would say that was a Good Thing except for the fact that he plans to delegate the whole thing to Pence. God help us.
17I think the plaintiffs settled way too cheaply. I think they had Trump by the balls. Unfortunately, in most class action suits, the people who make the real money are the plaintiff attorneys and in this case it looks like they are getting a $10 million payday, so that’s pretty hard to walk away from, in the attorney’s perspective.

26In an ironic twist, Kellyanne Conway’s husband got a case to the supreme court on behalf of Paula Jones vs Bill Clinton. He won & established that a sitting president can be tried for crimes committed before being elected. I see this settlement as a dodge to buy time until Legislation gets passed making him immune.
