Go Pick Some Cotton and Get Back to Me, Louie

March 01, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Louie Gohmert, who exists solely to confirm the stereotype of ignorant Texans for people from foreign states to feel superior,  has a new theory.

The national debt is just like slavery.  Well, and abortion.

“Slavery and abortion are the two most horrendous things this country has done but when you think about the immorality of wild, lavish spending on our generation and forcing future generations to do without essentials just so we can live lavishly now, it’s pretty immoral.”

Louie, the only people who are living lavishly are the people you keep giving tax cuts and refusing to pay their fair share.  The rest of us are living paycheck to paycheck.  But that’s not immoral?

Hey, at least he’s improving some.  He did leave off Hitler this time.  And he hasn’t mentioned terror babies in a while.

Thanks to Warner for the heads up.

I’m beginning to believe that Louie and Ted are really moles.
We Democrats want them in office in order to make all republicans look stupid.
Ted is there to remind America that we cleaned house and held both houses of congress for many years after McCarthy.
    Louie is just useless fun.

You need to cut Louie some slack. It can’t be easy to see a noob like Steve Stockman grabbing the stupid-is-as-stupid-does headlines, which just two short months ago you had all to yourself.

So he wants to enslave women? THAT’s the MORAL thing to do?????

Oh, Louie, pick a bale of cotton
Oh, Louie, pick a bale of hay

  6. Fred, so would contraception.

    6
  7. @Fred and SusanF, yes, and both would be free!

  8. Most republicans, OK 98% of them, can go to hell. The rest should have good reasons why they are one.
By the way JJ you have a post on Crooks and liars.

This is why, when travelling, I tell people I am from “Texas, home of Ann Richards.”

  10. Let’s compare Louie’s argument about how slavery and abortion relate to the national debt. As a member of Congress, and a congressman who accepts federal money in his district, and is personally paid by the taxpayer, he’s at the top of the heap. That would make him the slave owner, or in the case of abortion, the doctor. He’s certainly not the slave or the patient.

    10
  11. So what does that make President George W. Bush, king of the structural deficit?

    11
  12. Louie, Louie, LouI-
You just make us all want to cry-

I am beginning to believe that since most of the folks who died at the Alamo were from Tennessee – their ghosts just keep sending the stupid vibes back and forth through the air in both statehouses~

It’s the religion y’all, it MUST be! All you have to do is say the magic Jesus-is-my-personal-Savior prayerlet and Shazamm! you are saved! Nothing you do matters anymore!

And don’t forget, God’s got a plan, yesiree, he does.

And then you scramble a few bible verses that you THINK you remember pretty good -out of context-and go around spouting them at people so they will all KNOW that yew are a CA-RIST-SHUN, dammit!

Apply that litmus test in Franklin, Tennessee or Franklin, Texas: it fits, courtesy of Occam’s razor (papist!) and it ‘splains a great deal!

  14. Aggieland liz says:

@Eykis, at least you know you are not suffering alone and it’s probably NOT in the water. Also, I suspect Loony Louie will keep poor Peter Merkin crying, too! Damn, I’m glad I don’t live in Tyler, however beautiful it is!

  15. Sam in Kyle says:

Gohmert surely isn’t the Tyler Rose but he is a blooming idiot.

At the very moment when Louie thought he was finally going to be able to step out of the shadow of Michele Bachmann, who he has consistently stood behind in all her ravings, continually being overshadowed by Bachmann’s headline-grabbing insanities,Steve Stockman and Ted Cruz get elected from Texas. Whoops,Louie has REAL COMPETITION for Texas’ Most Outlandish Congresscritter. You can tell he’s really having to dig deep into his bag of lunacy to try to keep up.

  17. Mz Patti says:

Yes, InDeedie… there are LOTS of blooming idiots in that part of Tx…. they keep re-electing Screwie Louie by big margins.

  18. If Louie picked some cotton, it would be the first time in his life that he’s ever done any honest work.

  19. I’m so fed up with Republican nut cases yammering on about how concerned they are with the “debt that we are leaving future generations” I could vomit. They don’t give a damn about the people who are alive right now. What makes them think they can convince the rest of us they care about future generations? They are about as concerned about future generations as they are about all those fetuses after they are born. (Even notice how much an anti-abortion Republican supports hot lunch programs for school children or post natal care for mothers?)

The greatest debt we are leaving to future generations is the debt of spoiled water systems and the expense of babysitting toxic waste dumps for generations to come such as the one being created by Harold Simmons out in West Texas with the assistance of Rick perry and the Texas Republican legislature.

Simmons is willing to put not only the citizens of Texas at risk, but his heirs as well–and for what? So the 83 year old billionaire can add a few more million to his bottom line?

Rick Perry hand-selected a “commission” to decide that it was OK for Simmons to use land in Andrews Texas, over the Ogalla aquifer as a dumping ground for live nuclear waste. Simmons and his heirs won’t even have the responsibility for babysitting the toxic mess they create. After 15 years the ownership of the dump (most likely at capacity by then) will revert to the citizens of Texas. And millions of stupid morons in our state continue to vote for these Republican crooks.

And these are the same ignorant yahoos who piously sniff and harrumph like Mitt Romney over the “moral” obligation of leaving debt to future generations.

FURTHERMORE (You got me started) While the taxpayers collectively can be seen as owing the debt, taxpayers (or at least some of them) also own the debt. DUH! This is not a payment across generations; it is a payment within generations.

If the United States let the debt rise to $10 trillion and then left the debt at $10 trillion for 100 years, just paying the interest, then in 2111 some of our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren would be collecting the interest on the $10 trillion (most likely grandchildren of the ones so piously protesting), which would be paid from the taxes that the government collects.

    19
  20. The debt we’re leaving future generations? How about the environment we’re leaving them?
