  2. I was going to set my plants back out in the atrium tonight. They are really cluttering up my kitchen. I guess not, now. I was just noticing this morning that the pear trees (I think; white flowers; not real pears) are in bloom. And the tulip trees. There’s buds on the tree outside my office window. I thought maybe the trees could tell that spring is here. Oh, well. The cats will still cuddle close for awhile yet.

In high 60s now in Austin & lightly raining; supposed to be 29 around 8 am tomorrow. While running errands yesterday and today, noticed lots of blooming trees, and wondered if the blooms would still be around come the weekend. Oh, well. At least we’re not in Boston.

Ha! We had freezing rain then snow on the south plains!

As ranchers say, “All there is between us and the North Pole is a bob wahr fence and it’s down most of the time.”

and wingnuts have the natural sweetness of a tangle of barbwire. I used to say that about my neighbor lady on the next section South of me. She was always glad to take half of the road with a car or tractor and equipment, except her half came out of the middle and she wouldn’t move over for nobody.

  8. Marcia in CO says:

    S. CO – 23 degrees and going down to 7 tonight … we’ve had snow, sunshine, snow, blue skies & sunshine and more snow! It’s suppose to be crappy again tomorrow and then we warm up for a day or so before the next wave rolls in.

    It’s been a weird day …

  9. Angelo Frank says:

Atmos Energy is making money off of me tonight and tomorrow.

  10. maryelle says:

Snow up here in PA too, and down to 17 tomorrow.
Good time for a big swig of Dr. Pauley’s Swamp Root Elixir to take the chill off.

  11. Sandridge says:

That sucker is just blowing through here now, yuk. 72 to 44 tomorrow, lost 10 degrees in the last 45 minutes, blecch.

One of the best ‘big view’ weather websites there is, autoupdates once or twice an hour, shows about everything needed (if you learn to read it):

  12. Central PA: snow, then snain, then rice, then real ice, then rain, and now more snow rollin’ in, maybe. Trying to escape to the midwest tomorrow, so it depends on if Philly has been a good city today as to whether the plane fairies will bless us. You Texans don’t even HAVE wool socks, you can’t fool me…

    13
  13. Larry from Colorado says:

That’s just “normal” weather here in Colorado. 3 degrees tonight. 60 next Tuesday.

    14
  14. Marge Wood says:

Gittin raht cold here in Austin. It might even freeze.

    15
  15. e platypus, I’ve found that the best way to deal with someone taking their half out of the middle, whether you’re both in vehicle or both on foot, is to just stop when you have a reasonable position. They have to go around you or else smack into you. Not recommended if you’re on foot and they have the vehicle.

Maryland outside of DC: 46° today, 4-6″ snow tomorrow, 5° on Friday morning, mid-50s by Tuesday. We’ve had worse drops this winter.

Anybody else notice more days than before when it goes up 15-20° for one day and then back to where it was? Seems to me that’s been happening more often in the past few years.

    16
  16. Minnesota. Now there is a word for scary winters, except Boston is even worse this year. Today’s high was 6°. Six Big Ones! Tomorrow? 16°. We’re planning on 50s next week! Woo-hoo!

Do you even Have wind chill in the South?!

Rhea-ex-neighbor lady backed a new pick-up across a two lane road and nearly hit the Medical clinic in town one day and then a short while later drove her new Cadillac into the front of a beauty salon before her driving privilege was restricted. The clinic was spared because of an extra high curb. She has plenty of money to pay for damages.

  21. Snowing here right now in Northern Virginia just about 16 miles from the Nation’s Capitol. Started out just as the weather lady said it would, with rain. At 8 AM I watched one particular raindrop hit the window and the characteristics of that rain drop changed visibly after it hit the pane and moved down on an angle just a bit. I knew right then the change over had begun and at 8:12 AM right here I had snowflakes on the back deck. I am actually thinking of getting my snowshoes out and using them! This will be an all day event.

As for them roadhogs, I seriously hope you don’t have more than just a few. Back in Ontario, while driving about the countryside in all seasons, never experienced any such thing. And the roads aren’t any wider than they are here. As for the stand-off that was previously recommended, I don’t advise that. Whoever is nasty enough to be a hog will have no inhibition in rolling right over you and then suing you for damages to their equipment!

    22
  22. e platypus and maggie, I was assuming that the my-half’s-the-middle person was at least halfway sane and not blind, which I grant is an unwarranted assumption sometimes.

So if you think they’re Republican, leave them plenty of room. Though those folks are hardly ever in the middle when it counts.

    23
  23. e platypus onion says:

Well,at least you know where they are coming from. They will be putting up about 300 wind turbines starting this spring in my neck o’ the woods(starting across the road and also right north of me) and when they start hauling them large tubes and propelloers around even tractors will have to give ground.

Rhea-this is nw iowa and it is bloody red all over the place. I’m not sure where the next liberal is in my county although I know there are a few somewhere.

It will be -2 tonight, and we have been having snowstorms almost nightly for quite awhile. Upstate NY is cold! I’m mostly just under blankets in my bed…we have the heat at 50 in the house, that “attending school” non budget for heat is tricky because of my RA….but two nice cats and a vacation coming very soon…to someplace warm!
EPO my cousins are democratic and live in Iowa…above Des Moines, I believe in a small town. Put my foot in it while I was there for an Aunt’s funeral, there were so many Repugs everywhere! Not sure how you do it! Or how my cousin’s do it either!
I got outspoken because of the n-word….

    25
  25. epo, if only . . . What?! My fluttering heart wants to know.

    26
  26. Wa Skeptic says:

Bright and sunny, 58 degrees F., trees and daffodils blooming everywhere.

Of course, the rainfall is only 38% of normal, but who’s worrying about a drought yet???

It’s not like we’re in CA.

    27
  27. e platypus onion says:

Debbo-A Reverend Hickey you are not.

    28
  28. epo, thank you.
