Fun With Guns: Terrible Twos Edition

April 14, 2016 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Mississippi, y’all.

A mother went to a vending machine, she dropped her purse and the gun inside her bag went off.

The bullet ricocheted off of the vending machine and grazed her child on the face.

“Charges are not pending, it’s an accidental discharge,” said Officer Colendula Green with the Jackson Police Department.

That two-year-old is okay.

So, there’s no crime in shooting your kid?  They don’t have reckless endangerment in Mississippi?

Thanks to everybody for the heads up.

Accidental, my a$$. That gun should not have been loaded, the safety should have been on and it should not have been left in her purse. Add to all of this, the hospital where it occurred does not permit weapons on its premises. It’s reckless endangerment all right.

  2. “So, there’s no crime in shooting your kid? They don’t have reckless endangerment in Mississippi?”

Why would they? If you are raising your kid in Mississippi, you have pretty much doomed them to a sub-par life anyway.

  3. If I live to be 100 and never again hear “accidental discharge” I’ll be just fine. Inside the PD in the 70’s when an officer’s handgun fired it was logged as “negligent discharge”. You are responsible for the things you do. If your handgun fires a round off you are responsible for everything that happens after the bullet leaves the barrel.

But the child was protected against Muslim Terrorists in Mississippi. If only it was protected against Christian terrorists.

  5. It is time to have a requirement to carry liability and medical insurance if you own a gun. Just like for your car.

There can be a $1,200/month plan and a $25/month plan. The $25/month plan is for trained and tested gun owners. The $1,200/month plan is for this woman. The well-regulated militia gets it for free.

  6. George in Lee County says:

It is my understanding that “Reckless Endangerment” is the Mississippi national slogan. Or motto, maybe.

    6
  7. Hey, it’s Mississippi! What more can anyone say!

    7
  8. Sam in San Antonio says:

“it’s an accidental discharge” is a description of how Ted Cruz was conceived.

    8
  9. Ohhhh, Sam!!! And I here I thought it was a home accident!

    9
  10. WA Skeptic says:

That b***h needs to be put in jail and her child removed to another home.

  11. Linda Phipps says:

the safety was off? Was she locked and loaded and ready to do battle with maurading ISIL members?

    11
  12. Don A in Pennsyltucky says:

In Missischloppi, “reckless endangerment” entails forcing the donut shop owner to sell donuts to African American police officers.

    12
  13. two crows says:

There’s no such thing as ‘reckless endangerment’ in the land where Guns are God.

Sorry, kid [and all innocent bystanders] but them’s the breaks.

  14. Polite Kool Marxist says:

The NRA has multiple safeguards for their “Eddie the Eagle” costumes. A modicum of those measures directed toward gun safety and purchases would help.

***** beyond here is not safe for Mama or work.

  15. They are going to have to make stupidity a crime soon to take care of these types of parents.

Would they have charged the mom if the child was injured?

    15
  16. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Diane, if stupidity was a crime, we could supercharge the economy with just the house arrest bracelet industry. It would look like a fashion accessory for snacilbupeR.

    16
  17. l'angelomisterioso says:

@PKM-If it ever became a fashion accessory, you can be sure there’d be someone come out with a diamond-encrusted designer version available through Nieman-Marcus for something approaching the average take-home wage of the family of this twit.

    17
  18. l'angelomisterioso says:

@EF- You’re saying that the very act of birthing a child in Mississippi is “reckless endangerment”? I tend to agree and there’s several states I’d add to that one.A good many of them are in the old confederacy.

    18
  19. e platypus onion says:

Reckless endangerment is the Mississippi mating call.

    19
  20. Polite Kool Marxist says:

l’angelomisterioso, as long as the snacilbupeR are paying for the privilege of being on house arrest for their st00pidity and the bracelets remain the property of the state, let them add all the bling they want to the bracelet. Then use their ‘donated’ gems to retire the national debt.

Or, we could be generous and offer them a choice of house arrest or voluntarily submit to a trap/spay/neuter/release program.

    20
  21. Marcia in CO says:

This reckless endangerment is the first mistake …

The second mistake was made by whomever it was that named this person this: Colendula Green And that person is an officer of the law … SMH

Well, thank God the kid is OK and will carry a scar on their cheek for life and can proudly proclaim: My Momma did that!!

    21
  22. PKM, this gets my enthusiastic vote:
    “trap/spay/neuter/release program”

    22
  23. Linda Phipps says:

mysteriousangel, I dare say that the old Confederacy was more genteel than these rednecks. They (or their house slaves) took better care of their children, for one. Welcome, I haven’t seen you before.

    23
  24. Elizabeth Moon says:

Y’all have heard me before about “accidental discharge” as an excuse not to charge the ignorant/careless/stupid/drunk bozo whose gun just “goes off.” So I won’t bore you again. I told the source’s comment section what I thought.

    24
  25. So sue the gun manufacturer for a defective prod…. Oh. Never mind.

    25
  26. darn, theory of evolution takes another hit. As I started reading the bit I hoped (irrationally, I know) that mom was gonna be the “accidental” target. Darwin Award candidate for sure. But no, she’ll live to get another chance to shoot someone “accidentally”. Sure is safe though from ISIL/Mexican rapists/bad guys with guns/etc.

    26
  27. Marge Wood says:

Oh, that vending machine definitely had it in for her.

    27
  28. Harry Booker says:

“So, there’s no crime in shooting your kid? They don’t have reckless endangerment in Mississippi?”

Why do all these soft-brained people have to keep a round chambered? Are they so impaired they are unable to cock their weapon?

    28
  29. l'angelomisterioso says:

@EPO- I thought the Mississippi mating call was ” hold my beer”! Although maybe it’s more complex than we thought and made up of the two elements.
