Fun With Guns: No, No, Wait, You’re Supposed to Shoot the Sheriff, Not the Deputy Edition
It’s North Carolina.
Davie County Sheriff Andy Stokes says he accidentally shot Deputy Chris Fleming after Fleming and his police dog had been shot by a man during a standoff Wednesday night near Mocksville.
I mean, Bob Marley tried to give you instructions, but no ….
But there was a happy ending any way.
Stokes later spoke to Fleming in Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, where Fleming was treated for a minor facial wound and a flesh wound in the shoulder. Stokes said he told Fleming that he had accidentally shot him.
Fleming then said to Stokes, ‘Sheriff, you was just doing your job,’” Stokes said. “He understood the situation. He’s (Fleming) a cop. He understood the necessity of it.”
It’ll be fun to see who volunteers to go on a raid with the sheriff next time.
Thanks to Brian for the heads up.
Sometimes, the results of cops pretending that every home they enter is an Al Qaeda stronghold is more tragic:
1I get understanding that it was an accident and it was during a stressful situation. But “necessity?”
2From now on, Sheriff Stokes gets to be Barney Fife. He’ll be issued one bullet but has to keep it buttoned up in his short pocket.
3Fine and dandy-idiots with guns part two billion and seven.Being the animal lover I am,my main thought after reading this was,how is the police K9 doing?
4Ya know, I would bet money that this kinda stuff happens in police and sheriff departments more often than anyone knows! I do understand why they would definitely keep it on the low down. Just so long as no animals, like police dogs, were harmed during the incident. PETA would have a fit!
5Shades of Darth Cheney.
6Anne, I clicked on the link above and am sorry to tell you that the dog died. He probably saved the deputy from being shot even worse, and they plan a memorial service.
The deputy’s shoulder shot was the sheriff’s doing; the facial wound was from the other guy’s shotgun.
7This deputy strikes me as brain dead. I got shot at a few times in the early 70’s. Always took it personally and have yet to forgive the shooter, although his or her identity is unknown to me. Of course I was shooting back in the same “to whom it may concern manner”. Maybe I should be more forgiving.
8@Rhea-that’s too sad about the dog! Relieved he helped to save his human partner, but it’s a shame he died in the process.I do think it’s right that they will do a memorial for the dog.As for the Sheriff? Perhaps a refresher course in weapons training might be a good thing for him to go through.
9Anne and Rhea, a good dog died due to two or three ‘human’ gohmerts.
Sorry NRA, not buying your definition of “accidents.” Seriously, you 2A-clueless gohmerts need to wake up, when you are winging or worse, killing your own.
PAID arm carrying gohmerts killed a dog, injured another of their own. Seriously, until LE can hit a freaking paper target, they have no right to threaten innocent people with their ineptitude.
Holy Gohmert, if LE cannot demonstrate a proficiency with guns, what the Gohmert can I say to illustrate the problem?
