  1. The “Christmas Cheer” so beloved by rich conservatives completely misses the true spirit of this holiday. The ‘toon of the unemployed person with the knife in his back says it all. With cuts to food stamps, veterans, unemployment insurance, welfare, education, medical and scientific research, among others,is the Republican “gift” to America. Let’s work very hard to see that they get the gift of retribution come election time.

  2. Still mad about my disabled friend whose food stamps got cut from $238 a month to $15 a month, because she “makes too much” on disability and lives in a palatial one bedroom next to the shared laundry room and bathroom and kitchen.

  3. It would have cost $25 billion to continue to carry unemployed people a little while longer but of course it wasn’t around. It had already been deliberately and premeditatedly spent by the GOP when they shut down the government. Somehow someway the laws on treason have just got to reach out and cover this.

Yes indeed, Maggie, the Tea Bag hissy fit cost upwards of $27 billion and still counting from which nary a thin dime will be recovered. Whereas, money entering the economy via SNAP, social security, unemployment insurance and other social safety nets produces a return between 2-3 times the money spent.

The Pentagon for years has yet to produce an accounting of their expenditures. Until they do, my suggestion would be to reduce their budget to cover the costs of education, social safety nets, and job creation. If they cannot account for what they have been given, they sure don’t need more.

  5. It’s hard not to hate the Rethugs during the Holidays! 🙁

Amen. Make the five sided building keep a decent list of expenditures. It couldn’t be THAT hard. If it is, they need to quit taking stuff to the other side of the world and blowing it up.

Right on Zyxomma! I would add that we need to encourage more candidates like Wendy Davis and Maxey Scherr to run for office. Give the electorate something to be excited about, candidates who have solutions and are willing to put their lives on hold to serve “we the people.” Unlike the general run of the mill choices between the lessors of evil.

Kick out the corporate gohmerts of both parties. Thanks, Louie, for saving me the mouth soaping that can be avoided by using gohmert in substitute for a more vernacular term for prostitution. Ho, ho, ho and Merry Christmas to all!
