Welcome to The World's Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc.
My name is Susan DuQuesnay Bankston. I live in Richmond, Texas, in the heart of Tom DeLay's old district. It's nuttier than squirrel poop here.
I am honored and privileged to know Miss Juanita Jean Herownself, hairdresser extraordinary and political maven. Since she does not have time to fiddle with this internet stuff, I type her website for her and you can read it if you want to. If you don't, she truly does not give a big bear's butt.
A lot of what I post here has to do with local politics, but you probably have the same folks in your local government.
This ain't a blog. Blogs are way too trendy for me. This is a professional political organization.
As regards the second toon, why not blame the Prez for the NSA overkill? He’s been blamed for the huge deficit a la Dubya and the Recession, also Dubya’s doing, with his unconscionable deregulation. The Obama administration needs to keep reminding the public about the Source of our current problems: Repugs.
1Blaming the guy before you is so common that a lot of people dismiss it. After all, GWB blamed Clinton for the 9/11 attack (“soft on terrorism” remember?) And Republicans are still blaming Clinton for the nonexistent “recession in the 1990s” (had that argument online recently) with claims of higher unemployment under Clinton (wrong–it was higher under GHB), and a higher national debt (wrong, too.)
So while it’s perfectly true that Obama came in with all the cards stacked against him, saying so is not going to get us very far, I don’t think. Even when you pull out the numbers, they don’t believe them. As someone I once knew said of something else “That’s not a fact, and if it is a fact you can stick it up your [bleep].” (He didn’t bleep. He was a Marine, like me. But this is JJ’s space.)
2I agree that tactic doesn’t phase the conservative extremists, but the average voter has a very short memory and needs to be reminded which party put the screws to him.
3Great article by Paul Krugman on the Republican War on the Poor in the nytimes.
Oh Maryelle, that was a terrific article. What saddened me though was to read all of the comments — a beautiful choir singing joyful music … unto itself. I wish they’d all get on Facebook and go to Lamar Smith’s page (my hated Rep from Texas). I just shake my head at the hatred and lies spewing from so many people. Not one single word positive, not one single word Democratic, and as far as I’m concerned they’re so far out there, there’s not one single word American on that page. Need some of those NYT commenters to post the heck out of that page.
