Welcome to The World's Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc.
My name is Susan DuQuesnay Bankston. I live in Richmond, Texas, in the heart of Tom DeLay's old district. It's nuttier than squirrel poop here.
I am honored and privileged to know Miss Juanita Jean Herownself, hairdresser extraordinary and political maven. Since she does not have time to fiddle with this internet stuff, I type her website for her and you can read it if you want to. If you don't, she truly does not give a big bear's butt.
A lot of what I post here has to do with local politics, but you probably have the same folks in your local government.
This ain't a blog. Blogs are way too trendy for me. This is a professional political organization.
Nothing on George Santos this week. He got pretty well got worked over again. All good cartoons.
1I know nothing about football, and I would be willing to share that lack of knowledge for $77 million!
2#7. If that 2nd inauguration happens, I have the feeling I’ll be watching from #1 with all the other patrons of TWMDBS.
Vote like democracy depends on it, folks, because it does!
3I am a Texas Aggie. Having said that, I’ve gotten dizzy from shaking my head over what my alma mater has done with, too, and for its football team. Before they bought out Jimbo Fisher’s contract, they spent roughly $400 million on dolling up their football stadium. So, they’ve laid out nearly a half billion dollars on the football team, presumably in an effort to buy a national championship.
A half billion dollars. I can’t help wondering what would have happened if they had taken, say, $100 million and plowed it into their physics department or somewhere else in the academic arena. They’d still have a fancy stadium and – maybe with a different coach – a national championship they could call their own. They’d also have a world class physics department.
In the year following their national championship they’d no longer be national champions (those things don’t last forever), but they’d still have a world class physics department.
Priorities.
4BFSMan, I taught at A&M for >20 years, and I couldn’t agree with you more. My ex used to say (30 years ago and more) that college football is just junior-league NFL, and it should be treated that way. He was wiser than I sometimes like to admit!
5Number 4! It says it all!
6Justice Thomas and the cookie jar is my absolute favorite cartoon, this week.
