Welcome to The World's Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc.
My name is Susan DuQuesnay Bankston. I live in Richmond, Texas, in the heart of Tom DeLay's old district. It's nuttier than squirrel poop here.
I am honored and privileged to know Miss Juanita Jean Herownself, hairdresser extraordinary and political maven. Since she does not have time to fiddle with this internet stuff, I type her website for her and you can read it if you want to. If you don't, she truly does not give a big bear's butt.
A lot of what I post here has to do with local politics, but you probably have the same folks in your local government.
This ain't a blog. Blogs are way too trendy for me. This is a professional political organization.
With all due respect to the artist, the hasp and padlock are on the INSIDE of the closet. The GOP can’t keep ’em in, but they can try to keep them without visiting rights and registering at Bed and Bath…
I mean, where are the catastrophic reports of heterosexuality ending in marriage equality states? Or was that just the sound of bigoted heads exploding?
1Let’s face it. Obama needs to bring Congress back in session NOW.
Or is the Ebola problem really not important enough to give funding?
2@2 Old Fart, we need to get a grip here. One case of Ebola in the US and we are running around like our hair is on fire. The flu will kill up to 50,000 Americans this year and is completely preventable. And EV-D68 has been found in 45 states and is sickening thousands of kids. Both are much more threatening to us than Ebola. http://www.forbes.com/sites/davidkroll/2014/10/09/enterovirus-d68-and-influenza-far-more-dangerous-than-ebola-in-u-s-say-top-infectious-diseases-physicians/
3@3 Dan,
Sorry, my tags didn’t show up.
That being said, a robust (read: well funded) public health effort can best be carried out by coordination between international, national, regional, and local organizations. Without doubt, the deadliest public health issues are probably the ones we already experience, and are therefor “dismissed” by being familiar. I find the distinction between terrorists efforts to poison our public drinking water supplies, and accidental contamination due to industrial accidents to be moot. There are any number of “most important” issues that should be reasons for Obama to recall Congress, unfortunately the need to keep the Senate “blue” outweighs them
4Doh,
AGAIN, my semi-snark tags for @2 didn’t show up…
5Sorry, Old Fart. I didn’t pick up the snark. In this environment, I can no longer tell satire from the real thing. Even Rachel Maddow is talking about little else.
6Thank you so much for the Panetta cartoon. Been seeing this back stabbing sorry sack on TV all week. Then I see Republicans, Krauthammer and FOX use him in talking points against the Pres. He had his chance when he had the job. All he cares about is selling books. A pox on his book.
7I remember when I used to laugh at cartoons.
8Ditto Lucy @7! I have as much for Panetta’s opinions as I do for Cheney’s. N-o-n-e.
9Whoops. Meant to type “as much USE for.”
10I love the “cross contamination” one. SO true.
11Maybe some good news for TX: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/10/10/1335750/-Lone-Star-Rising-Voter-Registration-Soars-Across-Texas?
