Except Maybe Not This Much

Old white people in Texas have all gone nuts.

They want to put secession on the March Republican primary ballot, along with repealing the law of gravity and making knuckled-dragging an Olympic sport.

Do they realize where their social security checks come from?

Yes, Tyler is the heart of East Texas and Louie Gohmert’s congressional district.

Be social and share!

I say, let ’em vote on it.

I’d love to see the expression on their little puppy faces when they catch that car.

  2. Sandridge says:

Oh Dawg, the collective IQ in that room wouldn’t reach what our outside temperature will be today…

  3. I wish they’d volunteer to colonize Mars.

    3
  4. Somebody on another site said we need to retain Texas “because oil”. I liked this reply:

“There are no net benefits to the other 49 states from Texas oil production. Yes, Texas produces 1.09 million barrels per day, about 5.5% of national production but consumes 1.13 million barrels per day. Overall Texas is an oil ‘taker state.’ For every dollar they send to Washington they get 79c back, over 33% of state revenue is Federal funding & 1% of the state population is a Federal employee. I think they would miss us more than we would miss them.”

  5. Sandridge says:

And WTF is with that image of OUR Alamo doing there? Maybe the ladies of the DRT have a non-commercial copyright type policy about using such images? (you just know somebody is making a buck off this, right?)

    5
  6. Wonder if the secessionists would be satisfied if the rest of us just contained them in a multi-acre site surrounded by a 50 foot fence? And threw away the f’ing key?

    6
  7. daChipster says:

So, check me on this, but isn’t the population of Texas majority minority?

So when Texas secedes, with all their oil and their gold and their weapons from their military bases etc., is it these folks’ intention to turn all that over to the hispanic and black majority in the new Democratic Republic of Texas?

Or is “apartheid” the new Texas?

    7
  8. daChipster says:

    Micr:

shhhh! Don’t give away the operational objectives of ade-Jay elm-Hay!

    8
  9. @daChipster

Sorry. I’ll be vewy vewy quiet.

  10. Betty in Georgetown says:

“Old white people in Texas have all gone nuts.” No, SOME old white people in Texas have gone nuts. Some of the rest of us have been working, organizing, registering new voters, door knocking, phone calling, volunteering, and generally trying to Turn Texas Blue.

    10
  11. If any district that would elect Louie Gohmert wants to secede, I’d be overjoyed to show them the door, and slam and lock it after they’ve gone.

Can we get the ones who elected Inhofe to go too? Please?

    11
  12. Ralph Wiggam says:

I wonder about these people when they say the Pledge Of Allegiance To The Flag. Do they know what that word that follows “under God” means, or are they just pronouncing big syllables.

    12
  13. Ralph, they probably think the word is “invisible” not “indivisible,” modifying God, not “one nation.”

    13
  14. maryelle says:

Oh goody. When they leave they will take all their obstructionist Senators and Representatives with them. Then the country just might have a chance to reverse the regression for which they are responsible.

    14
  15. What a Deal!
We can get rid of Ted “Calgary” Cruz, Louie Gohmert, Joe Barton, Blake Farenthold, Randy Neugebauer, Pete Sessions, Lamar Smith, and all of the other Tea Bagged Azzoles in the US Senate & House with one move…

Shafter, Tx looks like a great place to build them a FEMA Camp and we could build a good tall wall around the camp for them…

You know… To Keep those illegal aliens out of course…

As treasonous secessionists they will subject to arrest if they attempt to reenter the US….

    15
  16. Jacj Patterson says:

I’ve often wondered how Louie Grommet (that’s what I call him) keeps getting elected—I’m beginning to understand.

    16
  17. It is really hard to believe that there are so many downright stupid people in this country.

Do these people plan to take over all of the military bases and federal buildings in Texas?

Are they going to print their own money?

Isn’t there anyone who can explain these things to them?

    17
  18. Somebody has to not only mention the loss of Social Security to them, but the loss of any and all federal dollars for anything that involves an Executive Department of the U S of A. That means a lot of farmers and ranchers are gonna bite the dust in agony.

    18
  19. Old Fart says:

If it wouldn’t cost so much, it might be fun to withdraw all the federal personnel and movable stock outside the confines of Texas/wherever the exercises are being held & see how long it takes till the whining starts (from the RWNJs). That and throw up toll booths on all the US owned highways that they don’t want to pay for.

    :-/

    19
  20. Is it wrong that this makes me giggle and the comments, laugh-out-loud?

    20
  21. capitol dave says:

@SammyW: Like the old saying goes, we can explain it to them, but we can’t understand it for them.

    21
  22. 1toughlady says:

Yeesh, I’m so tired of us Texans looking like idjits because of Gohmert goobers. Can’t we just kick them all into Mexico?

    22
  23. Polite Kool Marxist says:

There are good people in Texas, despite the best efforts of Loopy Louie and his supporters to contradict the obvious. And, as Rhea pointed out, OK has a few to go, too, like Inhofe. In fact, what state doesn’t since Teabagistan came on the scene?

It’s time for a trade deal with Bibi. For every dollar he receives, we pick a nut to send along with it.

    23
  24. Ellen Childress says:

Well, what does Abbott plan to do with the $1Billion in gold bullion that he is bringing home to Texas to store at the University of Texas? When I mentioned this to my state representative’s staff, they sighed and said, “secession”.
Abbott signed that bill, HB483, in May 2015. I think they are serious, and “we, the people” do not matter at all.
If all of us who comment on this website would go vote, would join telephone banks, put up signs in our yards, support the Democratic party, weak as it is in Texas, we might make some progress here.

    Wholly chit!

    25
  26. Biggomama says:

    Wholly chit!

Split us up. It’s in the treaty. To the east ghostly Gohmet & Teapottery, to the west, Teapot wanna be buckaroos. Down the middle and with a little gerrymandering, Sanity. As the Mikado says, I’ve got a little list and they never would be missed.

    26
  27. Pancho Sanza says:

Putin, Iran, & North Korea approved!

    27
  28. True Blue in Texas says:

Yes, I’m from Tyler, but I definitely didn’t vote for Louie or any of our other Republican politicians. The sad thing is that our ballet has no candidates other than Republicans for many offices.

    28
  29. @True Blue in Texas—I’d pay cash money to see Louie in a ballet. How about “The Nutcracker” for starters?

    29
  30. Marge Wood says:

Ellen, I offered to store the gold in my garage for free. I mean, the gold is too heavy to steal. They better hurry, though. We’re about to clean the garage and have hopes of being able to see the floor.

    30
  31. claudeewelch says:

How considerate of the “Take Texas Back” bunch to want the issue on the upcoming Republican primary ballot to be “non binding.”

    31
  32. Thank you, Betty in Georgetown! THIS old white lady (and native Texan) thinks those secession people are missing a bunch of tiles from their roofs. Heck, I’m not even sure they have roofs. (And I have an old white lady friend in Tyler who agrees with me.)

    32
  33. Old white people everywhere have gone nuts. Why? They watch Fox News and vote Republican.

    33
  34. A non-binding referendum? Yup, that’ll fix things right up.

A government that doesn’t do anything is a right-wingers dream and Repub politicians have come real close to accomplishing that.

    34
  35. Wa Skeptic says:

Secession was taken off the table 150 years ago; these people are just f**ting through their lips.

    35
  36. Bitter Scribe says:

I keep forgetting…is East Texas or West Texas the dumb part?

    36
  37. Aggieland Liz says:

    @ bitter scribe, yes…

    37
  38. Bet that Mexican prison escapee is waiting to find out the location of Texas’ gold, that would be a good challenge for him.

    38
  39. Prup (aka Jim Benton) says:

Can I be another defender of ‘my generation’ (cue Pete, Roger, and the ghosts of John and Keith)? I’m 69, and remember it was us that marched at Selma and Stonewall, demonstrated in front of the Pentagon — and started the revulsion towards Vietnam, and the questioning of how America really lived up to the values she spoke for. It was us, male and female, who learned from Friedan, Steinem and the others who showed us that the first equality was sexual equality. We ended the draft, made HUAC a laughing stock, and started the country towards understanding that a ‘despised drug’ like marijuana had more positive benefits than dangers. We discovered a lot of overlooked heroes and wise speakers, from the Berrigans, the Dellingers, to Martin and Harvey and Cesar Chavez.

No, we weren’t a majority of our peers — more new voters in 68 went for Wallace than for McCarthy — and the retreat from politics and confrontation that started at Altamont and wound up with Kent State and the 49 state victory of Nixon eventually swept many of us to ‘safe, undraftable comfort.’

(And left the left timid and afraid, hearing Agnew’s “Silent Majority” celebrating the results and seeking ‘self-fulfillment’ instead of trying to keep the world changing. Left Democrats so ashamed of their own beliefs that both candidates in 2008 proudly and loudly rejected the idea of Same Sex Marriage and Gay Equality. No, I am not absolving my own generation of its failures, just reminding you that, at the same time, it was those who are ‘old white folks that should hurry up and die so they are ‘out of the way” who started the fights that todays ‘youth movement’ is finally finishing.)

    39
  40. True Blue in Texas says:

TexasTrailerParkTrash–darn, I just reinforced the opinion that all of us in East Texas aren’t too bright! I meant “ballot” of course. But “ballet” was more entertaining!

    40
  41. Did they say the Pledge of Allegiance before the meeting started? (If so, to what flag? Just askin’….)
